The old lady apparently didn’t realize that she had the same temperament. As she recalled events from the past, she rarely showed a childish smile.
“Back then, we were all young and hot-headed. During arguments, we didn’t remember the good in each other, and with our families to look after, our interactions gradually decreased.”

The old lady finally murmured softly, “Clearly, we’re both at such an age, with only a few good years left, yet we still hold grudges.”
Shu Yu’s heart tightened, “Grandmother, don’t talk nonsense. You’re still quite young. Grandma Liu’s illness has nothing to do with age.”
The old lady really wasn’t that old; she was only fifty-four this year, which isn’t even the age to receive a pension in modern times.
But here, fifty-four is considered old age.
Shu Yu hadn’t realized that the old lady had such thoughts.
“Grandmother, you’ll live to a hundred, how can there be only a few years left? You’re only halfway through life, there’s still plenty of time.”
The old lady was amused by her, “I’m only halfway through?”
“Of course, so Grandmother, if there’s anything else you want to do, or any regrets, take your time to make up for them. There’s ample time, you won’t run out of it.”
The old lady paused for a moment, “I don’t have any regrets anymore. My biggest regret was not finding you. Now you’re back, your father’s leg is healed, your sister is married to a good family and is about to have a child, and your younger siblings will also have promising futures. Everyone else is doing better and has their own plans. I feel very content.”
Shu Yu pursed her lips; that brief pause in the old lady’s speech, though fleeting, did not escape her notice.
The old lady must indeed have some regrets, but she was unwilling to voice them.
Shu Yu didn’t want to press further at this delicate moment, fearing it might disrupt the elder’s hard-won peace of mind.
Shu Yu laughed, “Then your aspirations are too modest. You have to see me get married, see Ah Rui achieve academic success, see Ah Ning excel in her studies.”
The old lady was amused by her words, yet inexplicably, a sense of anticipation arose.
Indeed, there are many things yet to be acplished.
Seeing her mood improve, Shu Yu sighed in relief, kept her pany for a while longer, and helped her to bed when she yawned.
It was only after watching the old lady fall asleep that Shu Yu left the room, taking Ying Xi back to Yu Garden.
Originally, she thought the matter would pass. The old lady might be down for a few days, but she’d recover soon.
