Shu Yu tucked away the information Wei Ronghua provided about An Letian and led the way towards the shop ahead.
At this time, both An Letian and Ren Yiping were cleaning and organizing the shop. The goods could be displayed in the past couple of days, and the two were busily working.

Shu Yu amusedly said, “I heard that you can read?”
“I recognize a few characters, not many.” He hadn’t read books before; it was only after arriving at the prefecture that he realized literacy was important. Handling medicine and reading prescriptions, one could be easily deceived without it.
He seized every opportunity to learn. Colleagues working alongside him, neighbors around his residence, even the pharmacists in the medical shop would be asked whenever he had a chance. Over the past two years, he had accumulated some knowledge.
Shu Yu nodded, “Alright, then check if the contract has any issues. You can ask the shopkeeper about anything you don’t recognize or understand. Sign or imprint if there are no problems; take your time, read it carefully.”
“Yes.” An Letian accepted it and moved to the side to read carefully.
Seeing him not rushing to sign, Shu Yu was pleased. People so cautious would have fewer chances of making mistakes later.
An Letian spent two more minutes carefully reading the contract and seemed to understand all its clauses, asking Manager Wei several questions. Some parts even seemed incredible to him.
He had seen contracts from other places, where the requirements for staff were almost harsh. This was mon as many landlords exploited long-term workers, yet despite this, many still willingly sought work for that small wage.
But Lu Sanzhu’s contract was simply… the best in the business?
It seemed he had seen too little of the world.
An Letian signed his name painstakingly, the handwriting somewhat crooked, yet quite firm.
Shu Yu glanced twice, then took the contract and said to An Letian, “Wele to Lu’s.”
“Thank you, thank you.” The dust settled, and at this moment, An Letian finally felt relieved.
Shu Yu put away the contract and looked up with a smile, “I heard you were renting before. Our shop’s backyard still has some empty rooms. If you think it’s feasible, you could live there; Ren Yiping lives in the backyard.”
An Letian nodded repeatedly, “The shopkeeper mentioned it to me, but my rented place has half a month before the lease expires. The landlord said if I find the next tenant, I could get my rent back for that half month. I’ve been looking in the past two days, and once I find someone, I’ll move in.”
