Dabao felt incredibly wronged. “Apologize? Can this little guy even understand?”
Shu Yu was about to burst into laughter. How e every single one of them is a joker?
She hugged the little kid in her arms who was sobbing and forted him, “Alright, no more crying. Let’s not hold it against Uncle. Auntie brought back lots of goodies for you, let’s go check them out, okay?”
Shu Yu carried the little kid straight into Yu Garden. The items placed on the carriage earlier had all been brought in by Ying Xi.
Her share had already been placed in Yu Garden. This time out, Shu Yu brought things back for the few kids at home, all packed in a single box.
The box was opened, and she placed Little Huohuo’s share right on top, allowing him to grab it himself.
The little guy took hold of a rattle in one hand and a small ball in the other, immediately showing them to Shu Yu.
“Do you like them? They’re gifts for you.”
She carried him to the bed, placed him on it, and played with him while talking to Shuyou.
The little guy cried quickly and stopped quickly too. Now that he had toys, the previous incident was long forgotten, and he started giggling again.
He could now stand up by holding onto something, though he couldn’t walk alone yet. But he crawled really fast, ‘zoom, zoom, zoom’, within a moment he’d crawled to the edge of the bed, and Shu Yu and Shuyou had to sit outside to block him.
He was very attached to Shu Yu, but when he heard Shurui and the others conversing and playing outside, he got curious and kept peeking out, holding onto Shu Yu’s arm as he wobbled and stood up.
“Want to go out and play?” Shu Yu pinched his soft little cheeks.
The little guy raised his head and plopped back down, playing catch with the ball he had.
Shu Yu laughed heartily. As soon as she heard Shurui’s voice and laughter outside again, and saw Little Huohuo peeking out with his chubby face, she couldn’t resist shouting outside, “Ah Rui, take Huohuo out to play.”
“ing.”
Shurui really liked his little nephew, so without another word, he came over and picked him up.
This time, the little guy didn’t refuse. He just babbled to Shu Yu, as if he were saying ‘I’ll be right back,’ and then was carried out by Shurui and the others.
Shu Yu really adored him; how could he be so cute?
Shuyou shook her head, “Only at times like this is he cute; most of the time, he’s like a little devil running amok, impossible to handle.”
“But you still find joy amidst the chaos.”
Shuyou paused and then laughed, “Your description is spot on, you wouldn’t believe it, but this little one actually helps me blow off steam.”
Shu Yu was curious, “How does he help you blow off steam?”
“Last time I was on the street, I bumped into the Zhang family. Zhang Jin rushed over to me and called me Aunt. He’s so skinny now that it took me a while to recognize him. He said he hadn’t eaten meat for ages and wanted me to buy him food. I laughed; how could he have the audacity? I hadn’t even refused yet when Huohuo peed on him.”
Just a couple of days ago, she was taking the little one to Lu Erbai’s shop to deliver something.
Originally she thought it was a short distance, and she’d be back soon. But who knew the little guy would poop halfway, and she hadn’t brought a spare diaper. So she had to find an empty alley, and let the maid fix him up.
That’s when Zhang Jin rushed over. He stood before Shuyou, staring her down in a way that said he wouldn’t leave unless she bought him food. And Sister-in-law Zhang just pretended not to see.
