Luke's "Arican-spec" Range Rover Autobiography ca to a smooth stop in front of a classic middle-class villa in a typical Arican suburban neighborhood.

The Daddario family ho was built in the classic Colonial Revival style—cream-colored walls, a dark roof, and a small, ticulously maintained lawn with several palm trees out front.

The mont the engine shut off, the front door of the villa burst open, releasing a wave of cheerful noise.

The first to rush out was a blonde, blue-eyed, middle-aged white woman who had kept her figure well and was wearing an apron. Her face glowed with a warm smile as she spread her arms wide and headed straight for the car.

"Mia! Alexandra! My babies!"

She pulled both girls into a big hug the second they stepped out, squeezing them tightly. Then she cupped Mia's face in her hands and studied her carefully.

"Oh, my little Mia, have you been eating properly in Los Angeles? You look great!" She turned to Alexandra. "Alex, you look even more mature and charming. Are your classes at UCLA keeping you busy?"

"Mom!"

Mia and Alexandra called out in unison, hugging their mother back with pure joy at being ho.

After the embrace, their mother's gaze naturally shifted to Luke, who had just gotten out of the driver's seat.

Her eyes lit up with open curiosity and appraisal.

Mia quickly pulled Luke forward, her expression a mix of pride and shyness. "Mom, Dad, Grandpa, Grandma, everyone—this is Luke, my boyfriend."

She placed special emphasis on the word "boyfriend."

Alexandra chid in with a teasing tone, "That's right. This is the 'Dragon Kingdom boy' and 'lucky boy' who's completely swept our little Mia off her feet—Luke."

Luke smiled and stepped forward proactively, greeting them politely in fluent English. "Hello, everyone. It's a pleasure to et you all. Thank you for inviting ."

His attitude was neither humble nor arrogant—respectful toward his elders while carrying quiet confidence.

Mia's father, a tall, sturdy white man with a neatly trimd salt-and-pepper beard, wearing a plaid shirt and jeans, also ca out of the house.

He hugged his two daughters first, then walked over to Luke and extended a large, strong hand.

"Luke, welco to the Daddario ho."

His father's voice was deep and his handshake firm, but his eyes were kind.

"I'm Frank, Mia's dad. I've heard Mia talk about you so many tis. Today I finally get to et you in person. You look like a fine young man!"

"Very nice to et you, Mr. Frank." Luke returned the firm handshake.

At that mont, a spry old man with graying hair but a still-robust build, along with a kind-looking silver-haired old lady, also stepped out onto the porch.

The grandfather walked briskly up to Luke, looked him up and down, and even patted his arms and shoulders.

"Good lad! Solid build! Like a young bull!" Mia's grandfather laughed heartily, his voice full of energy.

"I heard you're the guy who dug up that 'red heart' in Arkansas? God, what incredible luck! The whole family was stunned when we saw it on the news! When Mia called and said her boyfriend was you, we could hardly believe it!"

Mia's grandmother was even more direct. She stepped forward, gave Luke a standard Arican cheek-to-cheek greeting (light touches on both sides), then took his hands in hers. Her blue-gray eyes were full of appreciation.

"Luke, you are so handso! Even better-looking than in the photos! You're from Dragon Kingdom? Wonderful! I've always found Dragon Kingdom culture so mysterious. When I was young I dread of traveling there—and even regretted never dating a Dragon Kingdom boy!"

She gave a playful wink, making everyone laugh.

Then she looked at Mia, who was nestled beside Luke, and her tone turned sentintal: "Our little Mia has never had the best luck since she was a child. She never wins anything, chokes on water, and sotis trips while walking… We even nicknad her 'Little Miss Bad Luck.'"

"But now it seems she saved up all her luck from the first eighteen years of her life and used it all at once when she t you! This is truly her greatest fortune!"

Mia blushed at her grandmother's words but held Luke's arm even tighter, her gaze toward him so sweet it could drip honey.

Mia then introduced the rest of the family: her older brother Mark, a financial analyst living in New York, and his cheerful Black girlfriend Sarah; plus her younger brother Jack, a fifth-grader who was far more interested in Luke's Range Rover than anything else.

After the lively round of greetings and introductions, everyone ushered Luke into the warm, comfortable house.

The living room was decorated for the holiday, with a small Christmas tree already set up. A fire crackled in the fireplace, and the air was filled with the sweet scent of baking cookies.

Once they were seated, Luke gestured toward the several elegant gift bags he had placed by the door.

So had been brought from Dragon Kingdom; others were last-minute additions from Los Angeles.

"It's my first ti visiting, so I brought so small gifts. I hope you like them."

Mia and Alexandra imdiately turned into excited "porters" and "comntators," happily bringing the gifts over one by one.

First was the gift for Frank.

Luke presented a long rectangular dark-wood box. "Mr. Frank, I heard you run a gun store and have a great appreciation for tools and craftsmanship. This is a set of traditional Dragon Kingdom hand-forged miniature blacksmith tools, plus a decorative antique-style 'Longquan Sword' made with traditional folded steel and clay-tempered blade techniques. The patterns on the blade are quite special."

When the box opened, the black velvet lining revealed neatly arranged miniature hamrs, anvils, tongs, and other forging tools, with a gleaming sword featuring beautiful cloud-like patterns in the center.

Frank's eyes lit up imdiately. He carefully picked up the short sword, examined the blade's texture and workmanship, and tested the already-sharpened edge with his finger. "Whoa! The craftsmanship is fantastic! These patterns… they look just like Damascus steel! So cool! Luke, this gift is incredibly thoughtful! I'm definitely putting it in the most prominent spot in my store!"

He was visibly delighted with the culturally unique and personally relevant gift.

Next, Luke took out an exquisite silk brocade box containing a set of Suzhou silk scarves and a pair of beautifully embroidered silk eye masks.

"Mrs. Susan, these are silk and embroidery from Suzhou in Dragon Kingdom. The fabric is extrely soft, and the patterns are traditional auspicious flowers. I hope you like them."

Susan let out a delighted "Wow!" and gently stroked the silk that felt as smooth as water and the lifelike embroidery.

"It's so beautiful! The texture… feels like clouds! And the embroidery is incredibly fine! Thank you, Luke—this must be very valuable!"

She imdiately draped the peony-embroidered scarf around her neck, her face beaming with joy.

For Mia's grandfather, Luke gave a set of Yixing purple-sand teaware and several cans of premium Longjing and Pu'er tea leaves.

"Grandpa, this is traditional Dragon Kingdom teaware and tea. They say this clay teapot makes the tea taste even better. Please try the leaves—they have a very different flavor from coffee."

He also gave a quick demonstration of how to brew tea with the purple-sand pot.

Grandpa curiously handled the rustic purple-sand teapot and small cups, sniffed the fragrant leaves, and said with a big smile, "Interesting! We'll try brewing tea with this tonight! Thank you for being so thoughtful, young man!"

For Grandma, Luke brought a set of elegant hanfu-inspired loungewear and a box of exquisite traditional Chinese pastries.

"Grandma, this is comfortable loungewear with traditional elents, plus so classic snacks from our side. I hope they suit your taste."

Grandma took the soft loungewear, touched the delicate frog closures and embroidery, then opened the pastry box and looked at the beautifully shaped treats with childlike delight.

"Oh my goodness! This outfit is gorgeous! The pastries look adorable too! I'm going to try this on tonight, and I'm eating one of these right now!"

For older brother Mark and his girlfriend Sarah, Luke gave a pair of elegant cloisonné vases and a set of Chinese silk ties and scarves.

"Mark, Sarah, just a small token. I hope they add a touch of Eastern color to your apartnt."

Mark thanked him politely while Sarah gushed over the colorful cloisonné vases and silk scarves. "They're so beautiful! That blue-and-gold combination is gorgeous! Thank you!"

For little brother Jack, Luke brought a large, finely crafted Dragon Kingdom palace building model kit and a box of the sliding-block puzzle "Huarong Dao."

"Jack, I heard you like hands-on and brain-teaser activities. This one will give you a great sense of accomplishnt, and the puzzle is a real ntal challenge."

The boy's eyes lit up as he hugged the model box. "Cool! Such a big palace model! Thanks, Luke!"

Finally, Luke brought out several general gifts: a large box of mixed high-end Dragon Kingdom snacks (spicy strips, dried at, fruit preserves, pastries), plus so beautiful traditional bookmarks and paper-cut art pieces.

Every ti he presented a gift, Mia or Alexandra would enthusiastically explain beside him:

"This is a very famous Dragon Kingdom handicraft!"

"This tea is super expensive and delicious!"

"These pastries use palace recipes!"

"This silk can only be woven in a specific place—it's true world-class luxury!"

The Daddario family's emotional reactions were perfect.

Luke noted internally that when it ca to "emotional value," foreigners really knew how to deliver… the foreign flair had to co from foreigners.

With every gift received, the family erupted in "Oh my God!" "Amazing!" "So beautiful!" "This is incredible!" along with sincere thanks, hugs, or handshakes.

The living room filled with laughter and joy. The gift-opening felt like an early mini Christmas celebration.

Luke's thoughtfulness and the unique beauty of the gifts quickly won over Mia's entire family.

Frank patted Luke on the shoulder and said, "Kid's got good taste." Susan's eyes toward Luke grew even warr. Grandpa and Grandma couldn't stop smiling, repeatedly praising Mia for finding a "thoughtful and generous young man."

Even the initially reserved Mark and Sarah relaxed and joined in the discussion of the gifts.

Watching her family's delighted reactions and Luke's poised, sincere, and considerate behavior, Mia nestled against Luke's side, her face glowing with happiness and pride.

She knew that Luke's attention to detail wasn't just respect for her family—it was a serious commitnt to their relationship.

This Thanksgiving was already more perfect than she had imagined.
