The bustling day of welcoming the God of Wealth ended, and Lin Wanwan had dinner with a few young ladies of the house at Madam Xiao’s place. Upon learning that Lin Wanwan would be going into the mountains to et Immortal Sun and present the dical book left by her master the next day, Madam Xiao praised her for quite a while.

Returning to her quarters, she instructed Hua Nong, who was on night duty, to watch the door closely and reminded Kun Lun not to open the door for anyone. After putting Qingyu to sleep, Lin Wanwan hurriedly traveled to a modern hotel room.

It was 7 p.m. in the Great Tang and 5 a.m. in the modern world; the sky outside was still dark. Lin Wanwan changed out of her ancient attire, sorted out the supplies she had purchased the previous day, and dragged her suitcase out of the room to check out. She planned to head to her rented apartnt soon to properly transcribe the dical book.

Gong Mingyu returned to her shared apartnt looking like a wandering soul; she was a girl who had co to Yu City to study, majoring in computer science, attending a third-rate school with matching skills. Eventually, she found a job as an internet café administrator by West Lake.

Being a girl, she was originally assigned to the day shift, but last night, a guy who was supposed to work the night shift took a leave, forcing her to cover for him. Having never stayed up all night before, she felt completely drained in both body and mind after one night.

Lin Wanwan, dragging her suitcase and carrying large bags, arrived at the apartnt entrance amidst the dim night, just in ti to et the returning Gong Mingyu, who was using her phone’s Bluetooth to unlock the door.

Although Gong Mingyu was so tired she barely had any spirit left, upon seeing Lin Wanwan, she still courteously helped her open the door.

"Thank you," Lin Wanwan said as she carried her things through the door.

"You’re welco," Gong Mingyu glanced at Lin Wanwan, "Are you just moving in?"

"Yeah."

The apartnt building had a total of four elevators, two on each side. The east-side apartnts offered lake views, were more expensive, and had larger elevators, while the west-side faced the road, were noisy, and had smaller elevators.

Both headed towards the east-side, getting into the sa elevator.

"What floor are you on?" Since Lin Wanwan was carrying a lot of stuff, Gong Mingyu tapped her own floor, twenty-one, and kindly asked.

Lin Wanwan smiled and said, "What a coincidence, I’m on the twenty-first floor too."

"Oh, so you’re the new neighbor in 2101? Are you a hoowner or a tenant?"

"I’m a tenant."

"I’m a tenant too; I live in 2102. There are three girls sharing our apartnt. Your corner unit has floor-to-ceiling windows with a full lake view, right?"

Lin Wanwan found this outgoing and warm-hearted girl quite pleasant, and she felt that the girl looked kind of familiar. She smiled and said, "Yes, the large floor-to-ceiling windows are perfect for reading and writing by the window."

Gong Mingyu introduced herself proactively, "My last na is Gong, full na Gong Mingyu. I work at an internet café, and I usually don’t work night shifts. I covered for soone last night, so I’m only getting ho now. If you need anything, feel free to knock on our door."

Then she asked curiously, "By the way, why are you moving so early in the morning? It’s not even light yet."

Lin Wanwan also introduced herself with a smile, "I’m Lin Wanwan, nice to et you."

"Hello, hello!"

As the elevator door opened, they bumped into Zhu Xinyi, who was heading downstairs for a morning run.

"Hey, Xinyi, you’re heading out so early again?" Gong Mingyu spoke first, "Let introduce you. This is our new neighbor in 2101, Lin Wanwan. She’s my roommate, Zhu Xinyi."

The two girls nodded at each other and exchanged greetings.

Zhu Xinyi took the elevator downstairs, while Lin Wanwan bid farewell to Gong Mingyu and unlocked her door with the password.

After putting her things down, Lin Wanwan exhaled lightly. The overly enthusiastic neighbor made her feel a bit uneasy, bringing her back to the ti when she lived in the dorm during her first year of university. It seed to pull her from the society of the Great Tang straight into reality, giving her a taste of modern life’s daily bustle.

Taking out the laptop from her suitcase, Lin Wanwan turned on the light and opened the curtains. Sitting at the desk near the floor-to-ceiling window, she opened the electronic version of the Barefoot Doctor Manual and selected the traditional Chinese version to display the page, preparing to start transcribing it.

The blank paper scroll was sothing Lin Wanwan had bought from a bookstore in the Great Tang; the pen and ink for convenience were modern products.

Cardiac arrest resuscitation is trendously important; effective CPR and artificial respiration can save a life. Lin Wanwan copied down all first-aid asures that didn’t require modern dical equipnt in this section.

Then there were pre-hospital first-aid for acute consciousness disorders, acute pain, acute bleeding, vomiting and diarrhea, palpitations, vertigo, digestive tract foreign bodies, heatstroke, drowning, burns, animal bites (stings), asles, and so on.

Of course, Lin Wanwan paid the most attention to obstetrics and gynecology-related first-aid, including postpartum hemorrhage, premature rupture of mbranes, precipitous labor, neonatal asphyxia, respiratory arrest in premature infants, febrile seizures, etc., removing anything involving modern dical equipnt as much as possible, while retaining as many original dical techniques and first-aid asures as possible.

Copying all this would easily amount to well over a hundred thousand characters, and one scroll was far from enough. Moreover, writing with a brush was really slow!

Lin Wanwan copied from dawn until the sun was high in the sky, feeling dizzy and befuddled by the end.

Just then, there was a knock at the door. Lin Wanwan put down her brush, stretched her body, and got up to open the door.

There was Gong Mingyu, who had just woken up bringing fried rice cakes. She smiled sweetly at Lin Wanwan and said, "These rice cakes are handmade from my hotown, different from those made by machines. My mom had bring so when I returned ho for the New Year. I just fried so, would you like to try them?"

Lin Wanwan smiled, opened the door, and took the plate, saying, "Thank you, I’m a bit hungry. Would you like to co in and sit for a while?"

"Sure."

Gong Mingyu ca in to take a look around; Lin Wanwan’s apartnt had a thirty-square-ter integrated living room and an open kitchen downstairs, a twenty-square-ter bedroom with a bathroom upstairs, and the balcony connected directly to the top without a partition, following the original layout by the developer. Although so space was lost, the lighting was particularly transparent.

"Wow, the view from here is really great. The corner units are just so comfortable. Unlike us, with the balcony facing the road and the windows facing the fire escape. Sigh. How much is the monthly rent for this entire suite?"

Lin Wanwan replied as she nibbled on the rice cake strips with freshly washed hands, "Five thousand a month."

"That’s a thousand less than ours, but we made a full partition on the second floor, adding another bedroom upstairs. Ah, living alone is really nice; my monthly salary is only five thousand."

Lin Wanwan smiled but didn’t say anything.

Gong Mingyu noticed the pen, ink, paper, and inkstone on Lin Wanwan’s desk by the floor-to-ceiling window and was surprised, "Are you a teacher? You even write with a brush."

Lin Wanwan casually said, "I write online novels, and writing with a brush is just sothing I do for fun, to cultivate my temperant."

Gong Mingyu praised, "Oh, you really have the aura of a classic beauty; writing with a brush and writing books suits you so well."

Since the door was open, Zhu Xinyi, whom they had t during the morning run, also knocked and ca in, "May I co in?"

Lin Wanwan said, "Please, do co in."
