Lin Wanwan’s boat only docked at around midnight. She and Hua Nong abandoned the boat and ca ashore, leaving Kun Lun to guard the cargo on the ship.

For people in the Great Tang countryside, who had nothing to do after dinner, midnight was already a ti of deep dreams, and even the militia had gone ho to rest, leaving the village road deserted.

Lin Wanwan and Hua Nong entered under the starlight. With Kun Lun away, Sun Chuyao took his place at the gatehouse for the night.

There were only two adult male servants in the house, so it was natural they took turns doing this duty.

Seeing Lin Wanwan return under the stars, Sun Chuyao was very surprised and quickly called out, wanting to get soone to make late-night snacks and prepare a bed for her.

Lin Wanwan stopped Sun Chuyao from bustling about, quietly went inside with Hua Nong, and now she just wanted to check on her little Qingyu.

By the ti she finished washing up and entered the room, Yun Shang, who had been awakened by Hua Nong, was already waiting inside. Little Qingyu on the bed was sleeping soundly and sweaty, and little Rongrong on the couch below was also sweaty in her sleep.

Lin Wanwan signaled Yun Shang to take little Rongrong away. Once they had left for the outer room, Lin Wanwan bolted the door, took out a simplified version of a Hanfu from the wardrobe, changed into it, took a hundred RMB note in her hand, and then opened the Space-Ti Gate to return to the present.

Since she last left the present from Hai City, this ti when returning, the Space-Ti Gate opened at the port area, corresponding exactly to the geographical position of the Lin Family Manor a thousand years ago.

It was 9 PM in the present, with most port area staff off-duty, leaving only the security guards on watch.

At this hour, no one was patrolling, so Lin Wanwan avoided the caras, sneaked out of the port area, and waited by the roadside for a long ti before a passing empty taxi arrived.

In the modern world, it’s practically impossible to get by without a smartphone.

The car drove straight to the community gate and stopped. The driver wasn’t willing to scan the code to enter the community, finding it troubleso. The ter showed the fare as twenty-three yuan.

When Lin Wanwan paid cash to the taxi driver, he looked at her with a strange expression and said, "I don’t have change. Who pays in cash these days? Don’t you have money on your phone, young lady?"

Lin Wanwan replied quickly, "I lost my phone, no choice but to pay in cash."

"Oh, that’s a problem. You can’t do without a phone these days."

But since Lin Wanwan said so, the taxi driver had no choice but to search through every storage corner of the car, eventually finding only sixty yuan, which still wasn’t enough change.

Not wanting to delay any more, Lin Wanwan took the sixty yuan and got out of the car: "Driver, keep the extra as a tip. Goodbye."

Running all the way back to her small villa, Lin Wanwan felt brightened up; life was back on track!

Entering the house and changing into slippers, Lin Wanwan first ran to the surveillance computer to check the outdoor surveillance footage for any uninvited guests during her half-month absence.

Quickly skimming through the videos, she found no anomalies. Lin Wanwan breathed a sigh of relief and checked the doors and windows of each room, finding everything as usual.

The renovations at her new courtyard in Creek Town were complete, but the promised renovations for the second floor of the modern villa had yet to start, its layout still the old one.

"In a few days, when I have ti, I must renovate the second floor," Lin Wanwan murmured to herself as she turned off the master bedroom light.

The room was originally left by her grandparents for her uncle’s family. Now the entire house belongs to Lin Wanwan, and such a nice south-facing master bedroom on the second floor shouldn’t be left idle.

She certainly couldn’t let that family stay in her house again; seeing the master bedroom used to irk her.

She didn’t want to change the layout of the first floor, to preserve it as it was during her grandparents’ ti, but the second floor and the third-floor attic could be adjusted, though there was no rush.

Closing the master bedroom door, Lin Wanwan returned to her room. She picked up a solar-powered outdoor mini fan she’d previously bought online from the window seat and bowed to the air: "Heavenly spirits, Guanyin, Jade Emperor, Lao Jun, Ti Taoist Ancestor, and all the gods, please bless to successfully ti travel with the mini fan."

After her prayer, Lin Wanwan ti-traveled back to her room in Great Tang, imdiately switched on the fan, and the subtle sound of the fan started, about the size of a mosquito’s buzz.

"Looks like prayers do help!" Lin Wanwan laughed, opened the curtains, got on the bed, and clipped the fan between the two layers of headboard drapes.

The gentle breeze gently blew down through the pink bed canopy, dispersing so of the sumr stuffiness.

Lin Wanwan took the cotton handkerchief at the bedside and wiped the sweat from little Qingyu’s forehead, kissed her once, and then lay down beside her.

Everything in Great Tang is quite good; it’s just that without electricity, modern appliances are very inconvenient to use, especially in sumr when there’s no air conditioning.

It’s almost the end of July, and the weather gets hotter by the day, with no cool breeze at night.

Throughout the two hundred and eighty-nine years of Great Tang, it was a warm period. This was both good and bad. The advantage was high temperatures made crops easier to grow; the downside, naturally, was the hot sumrs, with Jiangnan’s temperature being roughly equal to modern Guangdong Province.

However, compared to the Ming Dynasty, which encountered a small ice age, Great Tang is considered lucky. For both the rulers and the common people, a warm period is definitely better than an ice age.

After all, the overly cold weather of the small ice age made crops unsuitable for planting, resulting in low grain yields and productivity, making life even more difficult.

For both rulers and common folks, the heat is bearable; insufficient food is fatal because nothing is more important than survival.

The next morning, little Qingyu woke up drowsily, reached out, and imdiately felt Lin Wanwan. She instantly wriggled over to her like a little worm, not minding the heat, and flung a leg over Lin Wanwan while burying her head in Lin Wanwan’s neck.

Lin Wanwan was stirred awake, stretched out her hand, and quietly turned off the mini fan.

The canopy above the bed was made of a layer of pink cotton fabric. Initially, Lin Wanwan had it as decoration, but now it’s just right for hiding the mini fan. Unless deliberately lifted to check, it’s impossible to discover the little secret inside.

Because Lin Wanwan had many secrets in her room, she rarely allowed the maid to tidy the bed, preferring to do it herself.

After little Qingyu cuddled with Lin Wanwan for a while, she indeed announced it was ti for her morning pee.

Lin Wanwan said, "Go quickly."

Obediently, she imdiately got up, climbed over Lin Wanwan’s body to get off the bed, and relieved her urgency.

Afterward, she ran to the basin in the built-in bathroom, swirled her hands in the water a couple of tis, and returned to bed with wet hands, lying on top of Lin Wanwan and calling her: "Mommy~"

Lin Wanwan grabbed her little hand, wiped it with the cotton handkerchief by the pillow, then pulled her off and asked: "Isn’t little Qingyu hot? Sticking so close to mommy."

"I’m not hot." Little Qingyu proudly raised her head. "Really not hot. Feel my head if you don’t believe , there’s no sweat."

"Ha, you’re not hot, but mommy is. Stop sticking so close."

"Nope, nope, I want to stick close."
