"By the way, Dad, Mom, I told you before, our neighbor next door is my classmate. In the future, I plan to have als at their place; takeout is not clean."

Xiao’s mother paused for a mont, then resud her actions, saying, "Sure, as long as you like it. I’ll pay them a visit later."

"The grandpa next door isn’t ho; he’s working the night shift."

"At such an old age, still working the night shift?" Xiao’s father was surprised.

"Yes, he has to support my classmate, it’s quite tough for him."

Xiao’s mother’s sympathy kicked in imdiately: "Your classmate is quite pitiful, losing parents at such a young age. You should take good care of them in the future."

"Okay." Xiao Chong nodded, "Dad, Mom, if you have suitable and easy jobs, you can also pass them on. Teach a man to fish, rather than give him a fish."

"Alright, I’ll keep an eye out." Xiao’s father agreed promptly.

When it cos to this son, he wouldn’t say he understands him completely. Since childhood, he’s been deep-thinking and exceptionally smart, unlike an ordinary kid.

But one thing Xiao’s parents are certain of is that he is upright and particularly sympathetic to the underprivileged.

He often volunteers at nursing hos and orphanages and even uses his own earnings to sponsor several impoverished students and war veterans.

When he was in middle school, he helped local farrs near Yongda set up a livestream to sell vegetables, which surprisingly beca a hit. The face of the show was a kind-looking elderly man from the village, who turned into a minor internet celebrity. Later, that account was handed over to a university student in the village to continue operation.

Now Xiao Chong proposing to help the dependent neighbors is not surprising at all; Xiao’s father and mother have long been used to it.

The two of them busied themselves in the kitchen preparing dinner, while Xiao Chong sat outside in the tea room brewing tea.

He needed to drink so strong Great Tang tea soup to suppress the sll of alcohol; he didn’t dare get close to them earlier.

His foster parents, ever since catching him drinking in junior high, had earnestly advised him not to, saying it could affect his intellect.

But being an old alcoholic who drank his whole life, Xiao Chong found it hard to resist the lure of the cup.

Yet, he shouldn’t blatantly disobey his parents’ wishes, so he resorted to drinking in hiding afterward.

Once Xiao Chong smoothly finished brewing the tea and calmly drank a bowl, Xiao’s father’s and mother’s late dinner was ready.

"Oh, brewing tea again today? Let have a cup too."

Xiao Ding walked over, sitting cross-legged on a mat in front of the tea table, watching Xiao Chong on the other side, proper in deanor, his every action exuding innate elegance and nobility, feeling gratified in his heart.

He didn’t know where Xiao had learned this ancient charm. In his childhood, the old professors in the Yongda staff courtyard loved watching the young him maturely brew tea.

Once Xiao Chong was at the tea table, his aura of a little antique would completely resurface, even more stable than Old He from the archaeology departnt who had delved into tea ceremony for years. He could speak about tea ceremony, from water to tea cakes, with great clarity.

"Father, please." Xiao Chong poured a cup of tea for Xiao Ding, ticulously filling it only to seven-tenths full.

These rules were never taught by them to Xiao Chong—in fact, they themselves hadn’t studied them, and neither had the grandparents. It seed as if Xiao Chong was born with it.

"Good." Xiao Ding picked up the tea cup and took a sip. This tea soup mixed with various seasonings was initially hard to get used to, but over the years, he had grown to appreciate it.

"When you have so free ti, go back to the staff courtyard. The old professors there miss you." Xiao Ding comnted after finishing the tea soup.

"Okay, I’ll go back the day after tomorrow." Xiao Chong replied with a smile.

Ever since Xiao Chong moved out of the Yongda staff courtyard for high school, quite a few old n inside missed him and talked about him often.

That night, Xiao’s father and mother also stayed over in the small villa for the night, staying on the ground floor’s elder room, both convenient and spacious.

Xiao Chong returned alone to the second floor and looked out from the study’s window. Over at Lin Wanwan’s, she was still buried in her books.

Noticing the movent next door, Lin Wanwan turned her head and locked eyes with Xiao Chong, who stood at the window.

Xiao Chong smiled openly and said, "Still studying?"

"Yeah, unlike you, I’m not naturally good at academics, so I have to keep doing exercises." Lin Wanwan nodded, leaning her elbow on the upper window pane, resting her face in her hand, and chatted idly with him, "Did your parents co tonight?"

"Yes, they ca to stay for a night over the weekend." Xiao Chong observed the section of Lin Wanwan’s arm that was exposed under the moonlight and streetlamp, white as jade, and shifted his gaze.

It’s not that his ancient mindset was acting up; after all, during the reign of the Great Tang’s Gaozong, court maids often revealed bare chests and breasts.
