Chapter 1155: Wafting Evil

Sylas stood over the vessel he was trying to use, tilting his head, thinking, frowning, and then bending down to do more work.

He was quickly deciphering how it worked, but it was taking much longer than he expected, mostly because, from what he was seeing, there actually seed to be so sort of protections over it. These protections locked it into a bloodline sort of safeguard.

He could bypass this easily enough. Not only did he have Taboo Bond, but although he hadn’t checked his rewards, he knew that Vipermancy had progressed to E-Grade.

The main issue was obvious, whether it was locked away from him or not. But curiously enough… he found that the protections left on F-Grades were actually quite loose in the face of an E-Grade Extricate Ability.

Sylas actually had the feeling that if he progressed it any further, he would actually be able to ignore protections on F-Grade Genes completely, at least.

But even going that far wasn’t necessary. From what it looked like, protections on Genes were common. Protections on Blood Essence, however… and Bone Essence, even deeper than that…

Were not.

And Blood Essence was actually what you needed to get the vessel going.

This made sense, of course. A person could benefit from a Gene directly assuming they had the capacity to absorb it. Otherwise, you would need a special thod of absorption, like the technique that helped Sylas use Level 10 Mature Aether for the first ti.

Since then, he had mostly forgotten about that thod because it was both inferior to what he would need right now, and because he hadn’t run into beasts powerful enough to be worth using it on in the first place. But the point still stood.

‘Got it.’

Sylas pulled out a drop of Blood Essence from Israeal’s body, hardly coming up against any resistance at all. From what he could tell, the protections against Genes actually shielded Blood Essence and the deeper layers as well. But Extricate was able to bypass them quite well.

Sylas stepped into the vessel and felt a rush almost instantly.

Fast.

It had taken him days to go across the galaxy before, even with the express highways. At this point, he felt that a few hours would be enough.

It wasn’t just the raw speed of the vessel. When it ca out of hyperways, it seed to have a slingshot technology that took advantage of the shrinkage in space to accelerate you even further.

This seed simple enough, but Sylas didn’t think so at all. The hyperways didn’t accelerate you—they shrank space. Taking advantage of a shrinkage in space to accelerate you required expert comprehension of the sh of Reality and spatial manipulation that was actually beyond what you might find in a teleportation channel.

It was the most advanced vessel Sylas had ever seen, and it gave him insights into space that he didn’t think were even possible. He was so fascinated with it all that he didn’t even realize he had already arrived at his destination until the vessel ca to an abrupt stop.

Sylas looked out and frowned.

There was a dense scent of sothing familiar in the air.

Derits.

No, that wasn’t it. It reminded him of Derits, but in reality, it was deeper than that. It was the ire of the system itself, a violence that ca from its depths of dislike.

The system had been angry here. But it wasn’t the impotent system—it was the All-Seeing Eye. It seed to be infuriated by sothing.

Sylas descended.

This should have been Planet Florineth. It would likely have strong protections, but world-wide protective formations were rare. Only a world that had recently completed its Summoning might have one, or a world that was exceptionally established and powerful.

The powers that ruled this galaxy didn’t fall into that category.

However, Sylas didn’t make it far before he was forced to stop again.

A familiar scene was playing out below—a eting of a red eye and a blue one, both clashing in the air. But this ti, the gap between them was even more obvious than it had been before.

The All-Seeing Eye was not only running into the end of its lifespan, but it had also just rewarded Sylas everything he was owed. It didn’t have the capacity to be fighting this battle right now—but it was.

And this ti, the one at the center of it all seed to be…

Cassarae.

Sylas frowned from above. The Eyes were so focused on one another that they didn’t look toward him in the first place. He was also still outside the range of the World’s Core, so maybe he was just outside of their purview to begin with.

If not for the advancent in his eyes, he wouldn’t even be able to see Cassarae. No, it was inaccurate to even say that he could see her. She was little more than a small, insignificant dot, but he knew it was her. He could feel it.

‘What’s happening?’

The Crimson Eye was infuriated, and the All-Seeing Eye seed to be… protecting sothing.

Protecting Cassarae? Why? For what purpose?

Why would the Crimson Eye even appear for sothing like this?

‘Go.’

There didn’t seem to be another choice to be made. Sylas was already falling through the skies before his mind caught up, sweeping down below with such speed that the howling winds threatened to rip into his skin.

A stern expression was on his face as he fell between both Eyes, his telekinesis only kicking in when he had long reached terminal velocity.

The oppression of the Eyes made it even more difficult for him to pull on his own Will, but his gaze was focused on Cassarae. She seed to have been forced onto the ground, her body shivering in pain.

He could practically feel her Derits wafting through the air. Just what level of Derits had she gained for it to be so oppressive and violent?

BOOM!

Sylas landed, the ground shaking and forming waves in all directions.
