Sylas' gaze flickered. That was quite the boost in requirents. From just one Legendary Gene to a hundred. If he didn't have the abilities he had now, how long would it take him to do sothing like that?
It seed that the Tiers of Madness Disciple beca exponentially more difficult with every step you took. It was no wonder the little girl said that she would make it easier.
All that said, she probably wasn't talking about the Genes, but instead the Seed requirents. Whatever Seed Manifestation was, he hadn't reached it yet even with his Pride Seed. But he had a feeling that it was a tall order to reach.
Raising a palm, Sylas drew another Legendary Wisdom Gene.
“Tell what a Reaper Sealwright is."
“You know what a Sealwright is already. A Reaper Sealwright has a special connection with life and death itself. They can not only feel seals but feel what extends beyond them.
“The strongest Sealwrights imbue their Locks with Wills of their own, and these Wills are passed down from generation to generation. The existence of these Wills usually makes Gene Locks especially powerful even when a Race is declining.
"By the ti Gene Locks of this caliber begin to deteriorate, so little of the original Race remains in their descendants that there is nothing to gain by breaking their Gene Locks in the first place.”
Sylas' eyes flickered as he suddenly ca to a realization.
The Ouro.
Just now, he had felt that there was sothing particularly broken and fragnted in their bodies. It seed that this must be an example of a Gene Lock that had deteriorated after their descendants weakened too considerably.
But if what the little girl was saying was true, then that ant that a Reaper Sealwright would have a unique ability to sense these.
Suddenly, Sylas thought of Gogo's Gene Locks. Those were a very different form. They weren't the simplest form of Gene Lock only designed to stop others from taking what wasn't theirs. Gogo's Gene Locks, though, were like chains on his body, hiding his true potential from both himself and the world.
In the most recent Gene Lock Sylas had undone, he had received a vision from Gogo's Ancestor. Could it be that... this was what Reaper Sealwrights would be capable of? Back then, Sylas had been able to use that vision to improve his comprehension. In fact, that had laid the foundation for awakening his True Pride Seed. The Pride Gogo's Ancestor had embodied was buried deep within him even now.
It was because Sylas had so clearly understood what Gogo's Ancestor wanted that he wasn't in a rush to help Gogo improve. If it wasn't perfect, it wouldn't be worth it. However, Sylas could only grasp those aspects of Gogo's secrets because he was a Vipermancy. But when it ca to literally anyone else, he wouldn't be able to do much of anything.
The Reaper Sealwright, though...
The line between life and death...
Sylas learned about Sealwrights through the Golden Grove. He had always thought that Sealwrights were only capable of drawing seals, a curious path of Rune Mancy.
In fact, Sylas bet that if he had had the ti, he could probably learn how to be a Sealwright without the training wheels of a Profession. It was just that he hadn't had an opportunity to trade for such expensive study materials, nor the ti even if he had. However, from the little girl's explanation... there was sothing much deeper here. “This information isn't worth a Legendary Gene. What exactly is so shocking?" Sylas asked, wanting the little girl to get to the point. If he wanted to make an inford decision about his next step, he needed to understand the full scope.
“... The highest form of a Gene Lock isn't like anything you've co across. It's sothing that even your Taboo Bond Path Talents can't do anything about."
Sylas frowned. Extricate was already useless against those with Gene Locks—even the simplest form. That was still the case even after it had beco a Bronze Profession. Wasn't what the little girl was saying obvious?
The little girl shook her head. "You still haven't fully understood how to use your Profession. And you're also wasting your Progenitor Grandmaster Title—or is it Progenitor Saint. The impotent system has too many training wheels on."
A sudden realization ca over Sylas.
A Profession was so powerful because it basically gave you a broken ability you could offload the ntal strain of. However, was that the way to maximize your Profession? Sylas had been able to learn to use Fusion even when heavily injured only after studying Gogo more thoroughly and experiencing that vision of his companion's Ancestor. Like that, he had been able to bypass the limitations of the system.
But who said that was the limit?
If he was more intentional with how he used Extricate...
Would he still be restrained by inferior Gene Locks?
Sylas fell into silence. He really did have so much to do, and yet so little ti to do it. Progenitor Grandmaster had been a Title that allowed him to sense the path of his Professions in the future and accelerate their improvent. Now, it had upgraded to Progenitor Saint. If he still wasted it even now, he would be too foolish.
“The highest forms of Gene Locks wouldn't care about even a Legendary Vipermancy talent, unless you managed to surpass the combination of every Ancestor a Race had ever had.
“These Gene Locks exist as permanent deformations in the fabric of reality, twisting and changing even the paths of evolution the universe allows. The more of these Gene Locks appear, the fewer paths there are to Godhood as one Race after another Seals those secrets behind their bloodlines.
"Even long after these Races fall, these paths are permanently Sealed.
"A Reaper Sealwright, or a Sealwright at its equivalent level...
