Sylas cut through the forest of gold with all the speed he could muster. His telekinesis wrapped around his body, his feet leaving deep trenches every ti he stepped onto the soft soil.

Even as he ran, he wasn't sure if he even had a solution to make use of. He had been by that pillar before, and there was a very good reason he didn't try to investigate it further.

He couldn't.

The Aether was too volatile. It would have shredded him apart the mont he tried to touch it.

Sylas had been in many dangerous situations before, all sorts of environnts that wanted nothing more than to see him dead. Pits of lava, chilling cold blizzards, even storms of lightning recently. But none had ever filled him with as much a sense of danger as that pillar of light.

It was like its very presence was there solely to tell him that he was inferior, that it was beyond his ans to deal with.

He had hoped that it was related to the Dungeon, that maybe it was hiding away the final BOSS and when the ti ca, it would disperse on its own to allow them to fight it.

But now, he was getting the feeling that he had been purposely naive… maybe because that was all he could do at the ti. What other option did he have outside of just dying right then and there?

Sylas burst through the line of trees, feeling that his legs weren't carrying him forward fast enough. All the thinking speed in the world still wasn't granting him the solution he was looking for, but that didn't stop his legs from rushing ahead, outpacing even what his muscles could withstand.

He stayed low to the ground, but every step still carried him forward tens of ters. Sotis he had to forcefully use his telekinesis to bring himself back to the ground so that he could change position and avoid running head first into the thick trunk of a tree.

Deep in the depths of his green eyes, there was a sharpness that was only growing.

He had to succeed, no matter what.

The pillar closed in from the distance. It wasn't very far from Casstle Main to begin with. Originally, it had been triggered after the war against the Terranova Governnt, or rather at least a portion of it.

Sylas ca to a grinding halt, his gaze flashing.

His knees withstood a great amount of pressure, his telekinesis pulsing with life as he rolled to the side. A beam of light passed through where he had been. No, it wasn't a beam of light, it was a spark of pink lightning.

He had seen this once before.

Lauren.

Sylas popped back to his feet in one smooth motion to find that there was a barricade around the pillar of golden light. He had no idea when it had appeared, but there were any number of monts it could have happened.

He had been so focused on dealing with the threat of the temples, and he had disappeared for hours at a ti. It wasn't a surprise at all that Legacy could have made a move while he was out of it.

"Leave. Now."

A commanding voice ca from the distance.

Sylas didn't listen to it.

His eyes scanned the region and he assessed it quickly. There were two others he could feel a similar pressure from compared to Lauren. He assud imdiately that these were two other Gold Legacy mbers.

Their numbers weren't particularly great, there were only a dozen of them or so total, and each one of them wore protections against being scanned. He could only vaguely tell their strengths much the sa way he had in the Split Realm.

But it was enough.

Enough to tell that not a single one of them was a threat to him.

Sylas shot forward and Lauren's pupils constricted.

"Jack. Manay. Go all out. Hold nothing back."

The two n by Lauren's side grew serious when they heard these words. They had a hard ti understanding why they had to take a single opponent so seriously, but they didn't have much ti to digest this information because Sylas had already appeared before them.

A whip snaked toward Sylas, wreathed in pink lightning. It hadn't even landed before a second ca.

Lauren took out two tallic whips as thick as snakes. There was a heft to them that cracked at the air, their pooling Aether and Will shuddering through them causing them to move like extensions of her arm.

Sylas' eyes narrowed. He didn't have the ti for this.

Maybe Legacy was here to help. Maybe they were traitors as well. He didn't have the ti to figure it out.

Be strong.

It was the only thing that mattered.

He reached out, snatching Lauren's whip out of the air.

Her eyes widened, not understanding why Sylas would take such a risk with his bare hands. Illusory armor or not, it wasn't a real treasure.

Her eyes only widened further when her lightning crawled over Sylas' skin as though it couldn't cause any damage at all.

The second whip lashed out at Sylas' head, but his telekinesis collided against Lauren's own, causing it to fly off target.

BANG!

A boom of thunder shattered the air above Sylas' head, but he didn't so much as flinch as he pulled Lauren toward him.

The Legacy mber found herself flying off her feet. The gap in strength was so enormous she couldn't even react to the fist flying right for her face.

It was then Jack and Manay both reacted. They lagged behind, not believing in Sylas' audacity. But the mont they moved, their strength beca clear as well.

Jack raised a staff and a light enveloped Lauren. At the sa ti, Manay's sword shook, streams of fire forming blades in the air that curled and converged toward Sylas' position.

BANG!

Sylas' fist slamd into the light that enveloped Lauren.
