Now reading: Chapter 961 Lurkers of the Dark from Genetic Ascension, a Action novel by Awespec.

Ghouls, zombies, creatures of the lurking night of all shapes and sizes. So took shape as large as trolls, half their faces replaced by their oozing brain matter falling out from their skulls. So were in the shape of beasts, wolves with forked tongues and birds with an odd number of wings.

The scent of rotting death filled the air, concentrating into larger and larger plus of darkness.

However, Sylas was focused on sothing else.

'They're all Level 0, average Physical, ntal, and Will all around 5 or so, or 5000 by Earth's current stat system…'

This wasn't what Sylas expected. He had honestly expected them all to be Level 50. If not for the fact he had Gogo, he would have never stepped foot in here.

But what he didn't know was that City Stele challenges would not only slow ramp-up, the real reason they were so difficult was because of the Grade, not the Level.

The Level was decided by the person that triggered the challenge. The Grade, however, was decided by the Grade of the City Stele.

How many Level 0's had Sylas t on Earth that had an average of 5000 stat points?

The answer was technically zero… because he was the only one he could think of.

And that was because this challenge was set to Bronze.

While that didn't an that every Demon that appeared would be at the Bronze Grade, they would be close.

This first Wave represented what the weakest of near Bronzes could manage, but there would be elites soon, and then the final BOSS of the Wave.

If he didn't finish clearing Wave One by the ti the tir ran out, Wave Two would be summoned at the sa ti regardless of how many he had cleared, and they would be even more powerful.

Maybe by the ti he got to the last Waves, there might likely be creatures that dwarfed Gogo in stats.

Gogo was registered as a Gold King Beast right now, but after unlocking his second Gene Lock, Sylas knew that that Grade didn't reflect just how much suppression the Basilisk King was suffering.

But this…

'Is much easier than I thought it would be.'

Sylas didn't move, and yet…

BANG! BANG! BANG!

One head after another began to explode, his telekinesis bearing down on them with such force that their defenses couldn't even remotely hold up.

There was a ti dilation on this world, but it wasn't enough. From what he could sense from his Progenitor Fla Ability, it was only about 10 tis or so, aning 24 hours was around two and a quarter hours.

If he spent that amount of ti on every Wave, he would run into his three-day deadline for sure.

Plus… the Madness Key didn't care about ti dilations. All it cared about was the ti he personally experienced.

That ant that these Waves…

They had to go.

And they had to go now.

A ring of destruction ford around Sylas.

His Will had always been the most effective against creatures of the dark. Now, it was even more exaggerated.

They couldn't fight back against his gaze weaving into their bodies, shattering their skulls from the inside out.

The most shocking part was that Sylas hardly felt a drain on his Will at all. In fact, any he used recovered faster than he could even use it. It almost felt like he was gaining Will in exchange for using it.

'A Demon Coin is a hundred kills?'

Sylas crossed the mark and felt a tick-up notification pop. When he glanced at it, he noticed that he had gained his first Demon Coin.

He hadn't been counting the exact number of Demons he had killed, but a hundred should be about right.

This was unexpected. He had been thinking it might be one, or maybe ten. But this…

'It seems that there are far more enemies than I thought…' Sylas' gaze flashed. '… Faster, then.'

Sylas picked up the pace.

He split his telekinesis into ten parts. This was about his limit right now. Although he could split it more ways, this was the only way he could maintain his Will at peak condition.

Right now, he left Madness toggled off. Now that it was at Common, it took even more stamina to use. Plus, he didn't need the boost… not yet.

But he could feel that more powerful creatures were coming.

As the Wave continued, and the more he killed, the more strength the creatures began to have….

And then the first elite appeared.

Sylas sensed it before the Aether circle around it had even fully ford, his telekinesis locking onto the region.

There was a dense light of erald in his eyes as he pulled on his Aether for the first ti.

He raised a finger, aiming for a distance over a kiloter away.

BANG!

The timing was perfect. The Aether circle of protection had only just vanished when a finger of green Will descended from the skies, smashing the creature to pieces.

Sylas exhaled a breath.

If he had a choice to upgrade his Unique Genes right now, Aetherflow would definitely be the first. But unfortunately, he had no slots for Silver Genes left… not until he integrated his current ones into his foundation to prepare for an E-Grade evolution.

But while he had raised himself to Level 50, that didn't an he was ready to throw all caution to the wind for speed of advancent just yet.

That decision, though… would have to wait until he crushed everything here in his path.

Sylas' finger flexed as one elite after another began to form.

They were larger, armored in black, foggy armor. They made the trolls from earlier seem like dwarfs by comparison.

Sylas' finger trembled, his claw extending just the slightest bit as he activated [Primate Swipe].

Like a judgnt from a god above, ten fingers manifested in a swirling mass of illusory green, each one with a claw as sharp as the last.

Then his arm descended.

BANG! BANG! BANG!
