Because what Jask said was indeed true.
If the World-Ending White Light is a problem from inside Earth, there’s still some hope for a solution; but if it scales out to the universe, humanity stands no chance of resisting.

Lin Xian, Liu Feng, Gao Wen, and Hafnium Alloy VV stood on the dock, watching the fleet disappear over the horizon.
“Our reconnaissance plane has already gone ahead to investigate Antarctica.”
