Mother Louise looked at her with a mixture of pride and concern. "Did you co here alone? The journey is filled with many dangers. Didn’t soone accompany you?" She asked, her voice tinged with worry.
Selene nodded reassuringly. "Don’t worry, Mother. I was well protected. Two senior students from the tower accompanied . They had sothing to take care of once we entered our kingdom’s territory, so we split up. They should be arriving here soon."
Louise’s expression softened, relief evident in her eyes. "I’m glad to hear that. It’s comforting to know you had protection on the journey."
Selene smiled, her deanour calm and confident. "I appreciate your concern, Mother, but I assure you, I’m capable of handling myself. The journey was also a good test of my skills and adaptability."
Apollo looked at his sister with admiration. "It’s impressive, sister. I can’t wait to see your magic in action. Maybe you can teach a few things."
He wanted to see what was different about magic skills than Prana skills, and whether could he learn both at the sa ti.
Selene chuckled. "I’d be happy to, Apollo. And I’m sure there’s much I can learn from you as well."
Father John, who had been listening quietly, nodded approvingly. "You’ve both grown so much. It’s reassuring to see how capable and strong you are."
The family continued their conversation, sharing stories and experiences. The warmth and bond they shared were palpable, with each mber drawing strength and comfort from one another.
As the evening progressed, the Fletcher family gathered in the grand hall to welco the senior students from the Tower of Mage. The two students entered with an air of superiority, their expressions betraying a hint of narcissism.
The male, tall and broad-shouldered with striking features, introduced himself first. "I am Cedric, a second-rank mage specializing in elental magic. This is my companion, Livia," he said, gesturing to the elegant woman beside him. Livia’s deanour was equally haughty, her eyes scanning the room as if assessing its worth.
"Thank you for your hospitality," Livia said, her tone polite but distant.
Louise smiled warmly, masking any discomfort. "Welco to our ho, Cedric and Livia. We are grateful for you taking care of Selene during her journey."
Selene stepped forward, her voice steady. "Cedric, Livia, this is my family. My mother Louise, my father John, and my brother Apollo."
Only Grandfather William wasn’t there because he was at a critical stage of his breakthrough and was in closed-door training. He couldn’t co to et the two senior students from the mage tower.
Cedric’s gaze lingered on Apollo for a mont, a faint smirk playing on his lips. "Ah, Apollo, the rising star I’ve heard about. It seems talent runs in the family."
Apollo returned Cedric’s gaze with calm confidence. "Thank you for accompanying my sister. We appreciate it."
Sensing the underlying taunt from Cedric, Livia decided to steer the conversation in a different direction.
To her, Apollo’s fa, as she had heard upon entering the Rrioweth kingdom, seed more like a fleeting rumor than a real threat. She knew that the true story was often more complex than what was heard on the surface. Still, out of respect for her junior sister, she had to uphold their dignity. With a poised smile, she chose to acknowledge the connection.
"Selene has spoken highly of you, Apollo," Livia said, her tone respectful yet firm. "It’s clear that the Fletcher family is one to be reckoned with."
Her words carried a subtle grace, acknowledging Apollo’s accomplishnts while reinforcing her stature.
Father John nodded, his voice asured. "We are proud of our heritage and the achievents of our family mbers. We welco you both and hope your stay is comfortable."
After that, they stopped talking, and the servants led the two to their respective rooms.
Apollo, on the other hand, wore a mischievous smile, anticipating a few enjoyable days as he watched the proud Cedric leave.
Cedric, currently relaxing behind his back, couldn’t shake the feeling that sothing was about to happen. "Could it be that I’m just too tired from travelling?" he wondered. Shaking off his concerns, he quietly went to his room to rest. "
He now had extensive knowledge of various forces, as Master Aaron had inford him about many, including the Tower of Mages.
Just like the Hunter Guild, the Tower of Mages is a force that operates all over Rion. However, only mages can join it, and they need to pass a strict test to do so.
Unlike the Hunter Guild, which is open to all, the Tower of Mages selects only true elites, resulting in a much smaller mbership.
But since they are all elites, this doesn’t diminish their power; it increases it. His sister seed to be an apprentice to a powerful mage in the tower, as she was able to join directly without undergoing any tests.
To achieve this, her master had to be at least a third-rank mage, as only mages of third-rank Advanced Mage and above have the authority to grant direct entry into the Tower of Mages.
It ans Selene’s master is quite influential and powerful within the Tower. This is a great opportunity for her to grow and learn from the best.
It seed his sister’s luck wasn’t bad. She had t her master when she went to the capital with Grandpa, and her master, impressed by her talent, directly accepted her as an apprentice when she was just four years old.
This made him think of his other sister, the eldest daughter of the Fletcher family. He had only seen her once, about nine years ago. Perhaps she also had good luck and was in a faraway place; otherwise, she wouldn’t have stayed away for so many years, except for sending letters regularly.
Apollo’s thoughts wandered as he contemplated his family’s situation and the mysterious nature of his eldest sister’s prolonged absence. Each sibling seed to be following their own path, growing stronger and more influential in their respective fields.
The morning sun filtered through the high windows of the training hall, casting a golden glow over the spacious room filled with various training apparatus and devices. Apollo stood with his sister Selene and the two senior students from the Tower of Mages, Cedric and Elara. He was eager to learn more about magic, while his sister Selene was keen to assess how talented and strong her little brother had beco.
Selene, dressed in her casual clothes with an air of confidence and grace, observed her brother with a mixture of pride and curiosity. Cedric and Elara, exuding an aura of superiority, watched with interest, their eyes narrowing as they assessed Apollo’s potential.
"Let’s begin," Selene said, her tone both encouraging and authoritative. Both of them took their positions firmly on the field.
She started by testing the waters, waving her hand to summon a cool, icy aura. Several ice spikes materialized and floated around her.
"Take this, little brother," she said. Instantly, the ice spikes shot toward Apollo at high speed.
From the sidelines, Livia and Cedric watched intently. Even Apollo’s parents were observing closely, eager to gauge the true strength of their children. They knew Apollo was strong, but they were unsure of just how strong, and they had no idea about Selene’s abilities.
Apollo remained calm as the ice spikes flew toward him. While the spikes were fast for others, to him, they seed almost slow. He stood motionless, causing so to be surprised by his apparent lack of movent.
When the spikes were almost upon him, Apollo’s movent was so subtle that it seed almost imperceptible. In an almost dream-like sequence, he sidestepped effortlessly, evading the spikes as if they were re illusions.
The spikes seed to pass through him; their trajectories were disrupted but not by any visible defence. His motions were so fluid that to the onlookers, it appeared as though he was a ghost phasing through the ice, untouched and unfazed.
Livia’s eyes widened in disbelief. She had expected Apollo to be sowhat skilled, but this level of evasion, this mastery of control, was beyond anything she had expected. Cedric’s arrogance faltered for a mont, his expression shifting from superiority to genuine surprise. Even Apollo’s parents, who had watched their son grow and develop his skills, were taken aback by the sheer grace and precision of his movents.
Selene, though initially confident, showed a hint of admiration in her eyes. She had known her brother was talented, but witnessing his abilities in action was shocking enough.
The place was silent for a mont, the only sounds being the subtle echoes of the ice spikes that had missed their mark.
Apollo remained poised, his expression calm, as he turned to face his sister. "Sister, you’ll have to do better than that."
"It seems like sothing so small isn’t enough to make my little brother take things seriously," Selene replied with a smile. "Let’s take it up a notch." As she spoke, the cold ice particles around her began to agitate, and the temperature in the training hall started to drop rapidly.
Selene’s deanour shifted as she prepared to escalate the challenge. The temperature in the training hall plumted, the air growing dense with frost as the ice particles around her danced with increasing intensity. Her aura of control over the Ice Elent was evident, her focus sharpening as she prepared her next move.
