The soldiers of Crimson City managed to hold off the first wave of zombies without much difficulty, swiftly destroying them. However, the threat was far from over.
The number of zombies swarming toward the city showed no signs of decreasing; they continued to arrive steadily, undeterred by the destruction of their predecessors. This initial wave consisted of only the weakest of the dead, revived and turned into zombies by the Death Storm.
But as the storm persisted, the difficulty and danger were bound to increase, with stronger and more formidable undead likely to erge as ti went on. The soldiers knew they were in for a long and gruelling battle.
The strength of the zombies slowly increased, and after half an hour of battle, the first group of zombies with the strength of limit-breakers started to appear outside the city.
These zombie limit breakers were tough as they didn’t feel pain or fear; even they seed to be resistant to sowhat elental attacks. Making the battle more strenuous and difficult.
Still, even though it took more ti, the soldiers of Crimson City managed to stop the zombie undead cleanly without a single one stepping into the city.
The aura of death outside the city beca denser and denser with ti, with stronger zombies appearing one after another. Within another hour, zombies of second-rank strength began to erge, and the number of limit-breaking zombies also increased, putting more pressure on the soldiers.
Seeing this, Apollo, Alyona, and the other strong warriors finally joined the battle, starting to support the soldiers to minimize the loss of life.
Apollo stood calmly on the gigantic wall, releasing his ice aura. Instantly, nurous icy pointed spikes materialized, launching themselves at the approaching zombie horde, preventing the stronger second-rank zombies from getting close.
His strength and control had reached such an extre level that he no longer needed to carefully channel his skills to create powerful attacks.
Though he refrained from using his prana skills, it didn’t make his attacks any less effective. The unique life force of his ice, stronger than ordinary life force, easily overpowered the undead.
The mont his spikes struck, the zombies froze from the inside out, even the formidable second-rank ones. They beca helpless targets, shattering like fragile ice statues under the relentless onslaught.
Alyona beside also showed her strength as she supported the soldiers and sent countless small lightning bolts that cooked most of the zombies and turned them into dust even when they had sowhat immunity against elental attacks.
Seeing this, Apollo was surprised. He hadn’t expected her to be a lightning elent user like his master, but what caught him off guard was that she wasn’t a warrior—she was a mage.
His brows furrowed in confusion because he had been certain she was a warrior, sensing similar energy to that of seasoned fighters. Now, watching her wield mage abilities, he realized she seed to be more mysterious than he had initially thought.
The battlefield below continued to rage, but Apollo, Alyona, and other powerful people’s interventions had shifted the tide. The soldiers, bolstered by their presence, fought with renewed vigour.
The limit-breaking zombies, which had begun to create so troubles for the defences, were now being systematically destroyed, and the second-rank zombies were being held at bay and destroyed without any chance to co close.
Despite the successes, Apollo knew the storm was far from over. The Death Storm was relentless, and there was no telling how many more waves of zombies would co.
The pressure on the city’s defences would only increase, and they needed to conserve their strength for the inevitable onslaught of even stronger enemies, which is why they didn’t attack with their full strength to annihilate the group of zombies because a few minutes later their number will again increase.
It was a battle of determination to hold on to this spot for as much ti as possible because it would only stop when the Death Storm resided.
As the night continued to go on, Apollo started to feel the increase in death aura outside, and taking this mont, he started to understand the death law, which, because of the current situation, was an optimal place to comprehend.
His mind was divided between two tasks: supporting the soldiers and deepening his understanding of the Law of Death. Which was only possible due to his unimaginable comprehension ability. Even while juggling these two different and difficult tasks, he continued to improve at an inhumane speed.
On the other side, the intensity of battle beca fierce and needed to take action more frequently as so of the zombie’s strength had reached the third rank, but still, the death storm was showing no sign of stopping; instead, it was getting worse.
The battle raged in all directions, with fierce fighting everywhere. The eastern side, where most zombies seed to have gathered, saw the fiercest clashes.
On the eastern side, the strongest of the people of the city gathered and held this place. Kaleb was also present here, but he didn’t make any moves, as the soldiers here are very strong and seem to be the elites of Crimson City.
Even the unfathomable city Lord Rex was present at the eastern entrance of the city, which was now sward by thousands, if not tens of thousands, of zombies. The soldiers valiantly fended off the horde, their attacks a dazzling array of colours and energies, as they fought to keep the undead at bay.
Boom! Boom! Boom!...
From the sky, a sudden attack ca, and it was a weird fire attack that was filled with an aura of death.
Weird, three- to four-ter-tall vulture-like zombie beasts appeared above the city, launching attacks from the sky. These bird zombies were formidable, not only because they attacked from the air but also due to their individual strength.
Each of these vulture zombie birds had the power of at least a second-rank warrior, with so of the larger ones reaching third-rank strength.
The Grandmasters quickly sprang into action to protect the soldiers. The powerful Grandmaster standing beside City Lord Rex then made his move, and suddenly, an invisible force seed to press down on the vulture zombies like they were re mosquitoes that were beyond their strength.
Hundreds of the vulture zombies plumted to the ground, creating nurous craters as they fell and squashed like insects.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Soldiers cheered seeing this as it boosted their morale. But Kaleb and Asa, who saw all of this, were surprised by the strength and ans used by the Grandmaster of the Crimson City.
"It was..." Asa looked at Kaleb for confirmation.
"Yes, it was the law of gravity; I didn’t expect soone within this city would have mastered such a rare and strong law. And from how easily he defeated those birds, his understanding is not shallow."
But the soldiers didn’t have ti to be too happy, as one after another, a dozen powerful auras similar to that of Grandmaster appeared in the sky, which changed everyone’s expression.
They were different from other zombies as they imdiately didn’t attack them, but it seed they had so control over their thoughts and weren’t completely mindless. Which made the things more troubleso.
The grandmasters present on the eastern side quickly appeared in the sky, facing these dozen fourth-rank zombies.
Kaleb and Asa also appeared in the sky, bringing the total number to ten. It was ten against twelve, but the Grandmasters weren’t intimidated, knowing they were stronger than most of the fourth-rank zombies.
The only advantage these zombies had was their tenacity—they were much harder to destroy and wouldn’t go down quickly. However, in terms of individual strength, they were still weaker compared to the living Grandmasters.
The battle began with the collision of twenty-sothing formidable auras, creating shockwaves that reverberated through the air, knocking many weaker zombies below off their feet.
Kaleb and Asa quickly engaged in combat, each finding a fourth-rank zombie to battle.
Asa, in a surprising move, revealed a unique weapon—not a sword or spear, but two chakrams, circular blades that spun rapidly in his hands, slicing through anything in their path. The chakrams whirred with deadly precision, cutting through the air as Asa skillfully wielded them against his undead zombie opponent.
His two chakrams glowed with a golden aura as they collided with the fourth-rank zombie, a creature that could usually fend off most grandmasters’ attacks with its bare hands.
Bang!
The rotating blades sliced through the air with incredible force, and in that single collision, they tore a chunk of rotting flesh from the zombie, severely damaging it. The zombie staggered, its decayed body struggling to hold together against the relentless assault of Asa’s chakrams, which continued to spin with deadly precision.
On the other side, Kaleb faced his opponent with a calm deanor, concealing his emotions and hiding his true strength. With his sage-level power, it would be like crushing an ant if he fully unleashed his abilities. However, he chose to keep his strength hidden for now, preferring to assess the situation before revealing his full capabilities.
Elsewhere, the battle intensified as more powerful opponents erged. At the northern side of the city where Apollo was guarding, five fourth-rank zombies appeared, adding to the escalating chaos and presenting a significant challenge for them.
