Genshin Impact: I’m The Envoy of Snezhnaya
Chapter 330: As Expected of Lord Ausbilder
"ow!"
The word neutering made a certain figure flash through Diluc’s mind.
The rage he had been bottling up from his encounters with the Ausbilder finally erupted at that very mont.
With a powerful kick of his hind legs, he broke free from Jean’s embrace and lunged straight at Kaeya.
It was at that instant that the potion’s effect on his body wore off.
The fiery-red body rapidly expanded, transforming into that of an adult man, and slamd violently into Kaeya.
The two rolled across the floor several tis, and in the end, Diluc erged on top.
Straddling Kaeya and gripping his collar, Diluc spoke in an icy tone:
"The wine I promised you—and the food to go with it—are both gone."
"...I honestly didn’t know that cat was you. Believe ."
Upon hearing Diluc’s words, Kaeya finally chickened out.
Wine personally promised by Diluc was more delicious than any vintage of dandelion wine.
And that was to say nothing of the food.
"Before you said that, I was still inclined to believe you didn’t know."
Ignoring Kaeya’s resentful gaze, Diluc brushed the dust off himself and stood up, turning to look at Jean behind him.
Jean looked rather awkward at the mont. She never could have imagined that the little cat she’d casually been petting was actually Diluc in disguise.
She could now understand why he had knocked over the ink.
But as Diluc spoke his next words, all of that embarrassnt and shyness vanished without a trace.
"The Ausbilder has entered the city."
"What?"
"He’s in Mondstadt?"
Kaeya, who had just sat up from the floor, wasn’t as shocked. After seeing Diluc turned into a cat, he had already realized that the Ausbilder must be very close to Mondstadt.
What he hadn’t expected was that the man was already inside the city.
"He’s the one who carried— brought in."
At this point, no one cared about the exact wording he used.
The Ausbilder’s arrival was the most pressing matter.
"Does anyone else know about this?" Jean asked Diluc with a grave expression.
"Probably not. After all, the guards very sincerely told him, ’Welco to Mondstadt.’"
"..."
Diluc’s words made Jean let out a sigh.
This wasn’t really the knights’ fault.
After Grand Master Varka took the elites away with him, Jean had selected a new batch of knights to fill the vacant positions.
But compared to those elites, how many of these new knights could truly be called elite?
Besides, if they were elite, would they really have been assigned to guard the gate?
Sensing that the atmosphere was growing tense, Kaeya took the initiative to smooth things over.
"The most important thing right now isn’t that the Ausbilder is here, but figuring out his purpose in coming. Diluc, do you know anything else?"
Since he had been brought into the city by the Ausbilder himself, Diluc must have been with him during the period he’d gone missing.
And judging by Kaeya’s understanding of his brother, there was no way Diluc had co back empty-handed.
"All I know is that he ca looking for soone. But after searching for a long ti, he never found them. As for who exactly... he might not even know himself. I couldn’t get any concrete information either."
He didn’t even know who he was looking for?
It sounded absurd, but that was exactly the impression the Ausbilder gave him.
After all, the Ausbilder had never told Diluc—while he was in cat form—to look for a specific person. He’d only vaguely ntioned a scent, or that the person might be in so general area.
"Could it be Collei?" Jean asked, recalling a certain young girl upon hearing that the Ausbilder was searching for soone.
The little girl who had once followed the Ausbilder around everywhere.
"It shouldn’t be her. He personally escorted her to Suru. There’s no way he wouldn’t know that Collei is in Suru."
Diluc rejected Jean’s guess without hesitation.
Based on the intelligence he had, Collei was currently in Suru and had not returned to Mondstadt.
"How about this... we find an opportunity to invite him out for another eting? Since he’s looking for soone, we can help him search. This is our territory, after all, finding soone would be much easier for us than for him."
Kaeya voiced his suggestion.
It had to be said that this was a very bold proposal.
Arranging a eting with soone like that was no different from dancing with a tiger.
"What do you think?"
After hearing Kaeya’s idea, Diluc turned to look at Jean.
As the Acting Grand Master of the Knights of Favonius, she was the one who ultimately made the decision.
"Then let’s invite him to talk," Jean said after taking a deep breath. "Endlessly speculating like this won’t solve anything."
"So, the usual place?" Kaeya asked.
"Mm. The usual place."
...
Creaaak—
Bai Luo gently pushed the door open. Although the room had been unoccupied for nearly a year, there was no trace of decay or mustiness.
Within the Fatui, the position of a Harbinger ranked second only to Her Majesty the Tsaritsa.
Naturally, they would not dare to neglect it.
Even though Bai Luo hadn’t been staying here, people regularly ca to clean the place.
Walking over to the desk, Bai Luo picked up the photo fra resting on it and let out a soft chuckle.
Inside the fra was a photo of Collei taken during the Windblu Festival, standing together with Amber.
He wondered how she was doing over in Suru now, had she grown taller?
"Lord Ausbilder."
There ca a knock at the door, followed by Anastasia’s respectful voice.
After returning from the Knights of Favonius headquarters, she had rushed straight over to Bai Luo’s place without stopping.
The confidence she had shown while negotiating with Jean earlier was precisely because the Ausbilder was here.
She firmly believed that their Harbinger had the ability to deal with that unknown dragon.
"Co in."
Setting the photo fra down, Bai Luo took a seat.
Anastasia entered the room.
"You summoned , my lord?"
"Yes. How have things been in Mondstadt recently?"
Trying to judge this world’s progress purely by the ga’s storyline was an extrely unwise thing to do.
Because this real Teyvat was vastly different from the one in the ga.
If everything had followed the ga exactly, he would have died countless tis already.
"Just as you anticipated. It was difficult at first to get things running, but after Varka led the elite forces of the Knights on their expedition, matters gradually began to improve."
Why was Anastasia still being so respectful this ti, even after Bai Luo had wrecked the Mondstadt branch faction so badly last ti?
This was one of the reasons.
As the Fatui’s influence waned day by day, their greatest threat—none other than the Knight of Boreas, Varka—made the decision to personally lead an expedition.
With the Fatui no longer posing a threat, he not only took away a large number of elite troops, but even brought along the Overseer of the Church of Favonius, the one known as the Cardinal of Daybreak.
It was at that mont that Anastasia truly understood why the Ausbilder had acted as he did.
What seed like sabotaging his own people was, in fact, laying the groundwork for Varka’s expedition.
As expected of a Harbinger, he had even calculated sothing like this in advance.
Only Bai Luo himself looked slightly bewildered.
Wait... what exactly did I anticipate?
