"It's not like you brought one — so there's nothing to stare each other down over. I just wanted to know whether you two had used this thing before, that's all."
That was Wendy's answer to Miko's question.
In truth, all Wendy had wanted was to get a sense of what Lumine and Miko were each into — so that Kaito could take the initiative on his end.
Of course, she couldn't be too direct about it. If she were, Miko and Lumine would know it was Wendy who'd been prying, and then the next ti she tried to get information out of them it would be a lot harder — even between girls. No matter what, Wendy needed to leave the impression that she was soone who could keep a secret.
"Why is the one you gave so big?" It was then that Miko suddenly noticed the small ball Wendy had just handed her was considerably larger than the ones Wendy and Lumine were holding.
"You're the big sis, so of course yours has to be a little bigger~"
Wendy answered Miko's question as though it were the most obvious thing in the world.
She couldn't help it — Miko's mouth was bigger than either hers or Lumine's, so naturally she'd taken out a larger one for her.
"Hmph! So now you're willing to admit I'm the big sis?"
She had to admit, Wendy's little move had annoyed Miko right into laughing.
Still, she knew Wendy had a point. If the ball were too small, it really wouldn't do much — it would just sit there in her mouth, barely counting for anything.
Not that she'd ever admit it out loud. The most she'd concede was not asking Wendy to swap it for a different one.
"That's right — Miko-sis is big in all the right places, so of course she'd need a bigger one." And with that, Wendy had even gone so far as to call her Miko-sis.
This little brat...
She actually called sis...
Not having expected Wendy to call her sis at all, Miko couldn't shake the feeling that sothing was off.
After all — flattery out of nowhere always ant trouble.
Could it be that Kaito guy?
Thinking it over, Miko's mind landed on Kaito. Though the mont she rembered he still had that whole Mobius situation to deal with, she figured it probably wasn't that.
"Mgh... mghh..."
Just then, a muffled sound ca from nearby.
"Oh, Lumine's already got it in — that looks great." Wendy's voice followed right after.
So Lumine had put the thing in...
She's actually not embarrassed...

Actually, she clearly was still quite embarrassed.
Wendy watched Lumine with the thing in her mouth, drool trickling down her chin while her face stayed a brilliant shade of red — and found it thoroughly entertaining.
"Your turn, Miko."
With that, Wendy turned to look at her.
"No thank you. Sis still has to eat breakfast." A flat refusal — Miko was absolutely not putting that thing in front of Lumine and Wendy.
She might be willing to do it in front of Kaito, but not in front of Wendy and Lumine. She couldn't help it — she was the big sis. She couldn't go doing that sort of thing in front of her little sisters.
Naturally, if Wendy wanted to put it on in front of her, that was a different matter entirely.
This Miko...
Looks like she's not the type to admit to that sort of thing in front of ...
Listening to what Miko said, Wendy ca to that conclusion. The reason was obvious enough — that so-called dignity of being the big sis. She didn't want to do sothing like that in front of her and Lumine.
Looks like it'll have to be Acheron, then...
Since Kiana wasn't very close with Miko, Acheron was the better bet. Though of course, Kaito going in person was always an option too.
Before any of that, though, the whole Mobius problem would need to be sorted out first.
Oh, right...
A thought suddenly occurring to her, Wendy looked over at Lumine and spoke: "Lumine, I'll show you sothing similar to this later on — as for this one, Miko-sis doesn't get to see it."
"...Okay." Still gently working her jaw, massaging the ache from her mouth, Lumine slowly managed a single word of agreent — she'd already taken the thing out by now.
Sothing similar to that?
Could it be the thing this little brat ntioned just now?
Hearing what Wendy said to Lumine, Miko couldn't help but wonder.
She was curious about what it was — but she knew there was no way she'd be getting that information. No matter. She could just ask Lumine about it later — that would definitely work.
"Alright, I'm heading out." Knowing she wasn't going to get anything more out of staying, Wendy made to leave.
She did know, though, that Miko would probably ask her about Mobius — might even want her help.
"Wait, Wendy." Just as she'd expected, Miko called out to stop her.
"What is it? Do you want to know what that thing is too?"
Even though she had a pretty good idea what Miko was going to ask, Wendy asked that on purpose anyway.
"That's not it at all." Miko dismissed what Wendy said outright, then continued: "I wanted to ask — can you beat Mobius?"
She figured Wendy probably couldn't, but she still wanted to ask.
"No." Wendy gave a little shrug, her answer blunt and imdiate — straight-up no.
She couldn't help it; Kaito had already made arrangents, so she naturally had to be the one who couldn't win.
And besides, that was almost certainly what Miko already believed. After all, from what Miko knew, Mobius had been around far, far longer than Wendy — by a massive margin — plus various other factors. So it made sense she'd think that way.
"Fair enough — go on, get back to your Ning." Miko gave a small nod, unsurprised.
When you put it together — Mobius with tens of thousands of years on her, and Wendy with a few thousand at most — losing was only natural.
"Alright, I'm off." Walking to the doorway, Wendy suddenly stopped again and said: "Aren't you two heading back too? I could—"
"Alright, that's enough, little one — stop holding up us two big sisters, now go on."
This ti, Miko had gone ahead and counted Lumine as one of Wendy's sisters too.
Whatever the case, Wendy was the little sister here — and a stinky little sister at that.
"What?" Finding that Miko had lumped Lumine in as her sister too, Wendy was a little put out.
She'd only been playing along with Miko just now — and Miko had gone and taken it literally.
"What do you an, what? You're not leaving yet?"
Looking at the thoroughly disgruntled expression on Wendy's face as she stood in the doorway, Miko found herself in a very good mood.
Not that she had any particular grudge against Wendy — it was just that seeing this little brat make that face was, frankly, delightful.
"Fox spirit!"
On that parting shot, Wendy vanished from the two of them in an instant.
"I am a fox spirit — you're hardly telling sothing I don't know."
This ti Miko didn't bother denying it — she just accepted the title of fox spirit without a word of protest.
Whether Wendy had actually heard that, though, she had no way of knowing.
Oh, right...
"Lumine, this is yours too." With that, Miko slid the ball Wendy had given her across to Lumine.
She only ever wanted that sort of thing when she and Kaito were doing those kinds of things together — so she had no use for it herself. Lumine could have it.
"This one... is a bit big." Looking at the red ball now sitting in front of her, Lumine couldn't help but say so.
