Now reading: Chapter 577 577: What Exactly Is Going On Here??? from Genshin Impact: One Soul in Two Bodies, a Action novel by Walnutchan.

No, no, no!

He had to think of sothing!

Convinced he absolutely could not fail to carry out Miss Mobius's task again this ti around, Childe told himself he needed to co up with a good plan — one that would lead him straight to Kaito.

This whole business had already been handed to him on a silver platter. If he still couldn't pull it off, it would be a serious blow to his reputation as a Fatui Executive — not to ntion everything else.

Never mind the partnership with Miss Mobius — even just for the sake of his own na and the Fatui's, he had to see this through properly.

But figuring out how to actually do that... that was the real problem.

Right...

He could go back and ask Lumine — or Miko — about it.

They'd definitely know!

The thought struck him all at once, and Childe imdiately set off at a brisk pace toward Kaito's lodgings.

As it happened, Keqing was still in the area — and she caught the whole thing with her own eyes.

What is he up to?

Is the Fatui plotting sothing?

Thinking it over, Keqing decided to follow and see what was going on.

She had no hard evidence, but the fact that it was the Fatui was reason enough.

It didn't take long before Keqing had tailed him all the way to Kaito's lodgings.

Isn't this...

The place where Kaito stays?

Watching from around the corner as Childe knocked on the door, Keqing quietly turned that thought over in her mind.

After the whole business with Mobius yesterday, she'd actually been thinking about leaving. She was worried that staying might give Mobius the wrong idea — that she was here to let slip what she knew about Kaito's plan.

But now that Childe was right here, she didn't want to just walk away. It left her torn.

Then, just as she was thinking it over, the sound of a door opening ca from ahead.

It's that girl — Lumine...

Drawn by the sound, Keqing montarily forgot about Mobius entirely.

And now that the door was already open, she figured she ought to at least see what the Fatui Executive was after.

She was already here anyway — might as well see how things played out.

"Childe — why are you back again?" Lumine looked at him as she opened the door, genuinely puzzled to see him a second ti so soon.

He'd only just been here a little while ago, and now here he was again.

"It's like this — I wanted to ask... um... where Kaito's friends tend to go first after leaving Liyue."

He hesitated for a mont before finally asking — though he kept it indirect.

What he'd actually wanted was to go inside and ask Lumine properly, but given the impression that might give at this hour, he'd decided a doorstep conversation was the better call.

"That would be... Inazuma."

Not having expected such a strange question, Lumine paused before giving that answer.

Honestly, she couldn't figure out why Childe was asking sothing like that.

"No, that's not quite what I ant — what I'm asking is... do you know where Kaito's friend is right now?" Seeing that Lumine had misunderstood, Childe cut a little more to the chase and asked directly where Kaito was.

Where is Kaito right now?

What is he trying to do?

Keqing, listening from the shadows, was deeply puzzled.

Does he know that Kaito only pretended to leave?

But...

Why is he asking about it?

Does he have sothing he needs to say to Kaito?

Turning it over in her mind, Keqing made up her mind not to leave just yet — she needed to see what Childe was really after.

Whatever this turned out to be, anything involving the Fatui wasn't sothing she could afford to ignore.

And right as she was thinking that, another exchange ca from the doorway.

"That I... don't know, actually. Is there sothing you need to find Kaito for?" Lumine slowly shook her head to say she didn't know.

"What are you two talking about?"

Miko's voice carried over as she appeared in the doorway too.

With two separate visitors knocking in quick succession, she'd grown curious enough to co and see for herself.

Spotting Childe, her curiosity only deepened — he'd already co by once just a short while ago, and now he was back. She wanted to know what he was after.

"I hope I haven't disturbed you, Miko."

The mont Miko appeared, Childe said so right away.

The hour was still fairly early, after all — there was a chance he'd accidentally woken her.

"Not at all." Miko shook her head, then simply waited for him to answer her question — he still hadn't.

"That's a relief." Childe gave a small nod and continued: "The truth is, I just wanted to ask where Kaito's friend is right now."

With things pressing in on him from all sides, Childe had stopped worrying about being delicate — he just ca out and asked.

Where is Kaito right now?

What does this Childe want?

Not having expected that to be what Childe was asking about, Miko found herself quite curious.

"Why do you ask? Is sothing the matter? Why don't you tell first — I can pass it along to Kaito afterward."

"Well, about that..."

Childe hesitated. He wasn't sure whether to bring up Miss Mobius.

Miss Mobius hadn't told him to keep quiet about the fact that she already knew Kaito's departure was a ruse — but Childe kept worrying that saying so would cause problems.

Setting aside the question of whether Miss Mobius would be pleased, the simple fact that he was Fatui made it all too easy for people to assu he was the one who had leaked the information to Mobius in the first place.

Which, in fairness, he had done — except that Mobius had already known well before he'd said a word.

Ugh...

What to do?

Just co out and say it?

Or...

Make up an excuse?

Going back and forth on it, Childe found himself thoroughly stuck.

"Is it sothing very important? Even so, you can just tell and Lumine — it's the sa as telling Kaito."

Seeing the conflicted look on his face, Miko added that.

She had to admit, her curiosity had only grown.

But regardless of what it turned out to be, she was confident that anything he had to say to her and Lumine was the sa as saying it to Kaito — they could pass it along whatever it was, no matter how important.

"Yes, it is rather important." Weighing everything up, Childe decided telling them was the better option.

Without that, he probably wouldn't get anywhere near finding out where Kaito was — and staying vague would only make him look more suspicious.

"Then go ahead and say it." Miko couldn't help but say it plainly, given that he kept dancing around the point without ever getting to it.

If he had sothing important to say, couldn't he just say it? All this going back and forth without ever landing on the point was getting old.

"Ahem — well, the thing is: Miss Mobius already knows about Kaito's plan." Under Lumine and Miko's combined gaze, Childe finally ca out with it.

What?

He actually knows about this?

Keqing, still eavesdropping from around the corner, was genuinely stunned. She hadn't expected Childe to know about that too.

How on earth does he know?

Why would he know?
