"Ask ... a question?"
Lumine had never expected that Mobius would actually want to ask her sothing, and she was rather curious about what it might be.
Hmm...
Kaito?
All of a sudden, this possibility occurred to Lumine.
After all, Mobius was currently impersonating both her and Miko—perhaps she wanted to ask so questions about how to play the role more convincingly.
She knew Mobius definitely didn't want Kaito to discover that the current versions of her and Miko were impostors—at least not yet.
And if her guess was right, Mobius probably hadn't yet done that kind of thing with Kaito.
"What are you still standing there for?" Just as Lumine was speculating about Mobius's purpose, Mobius's irritated voice carried over from a distance.
Hm?
Snapping back to her senses, Lumine realized that Mobius had already walked out of the inner cave where she and Miko were being held.
"Lumine, you go out first and see what that little girl wants."
At that mont, Miko's voice rang out too.
Having just watched Mobius untie Lumine and then leave first, Miko had concluded that, in all likelihood, she hadn't co this ti to do anything to them—she had genuinely co to ask a question.
In that case, she might as well let Lumine go see what it was about.
"All right, I'll go take a look."
After glancing once at Miko, who was still strung up, Lumine nodded and walked toward the outside. She, too, could tell that Mobius really had co to ask a question.
So many caves...
So many...
Hilichurls?
Looking at the various seemingly mutated Hilichurls confined to either side of her, Lumine couldn't help but think this.
Because stone-like objects on both sides were also giving off light, the interior was actually quite bright.
On top of that, there were various other strange contraptions placed along the path ahead, though what exactly they were for was a mystery.
She had to admit, this cave was truly enormous—she had no idea whether it was naturally ford or whether Mobius had carved it out.
A room???
As she walked on and reached a fork where the path split in two, Lumine suddenly noticed that at the end of the right-hand path stood a room—a room with its door left half-open.
She had to admit, the sight of this room here was rather jarring; it didn't fit in with the cave environnt around it at all, as though soone had simply transplanted it from sowhere else.
So Mobius had been holed up here all along...
After a mont's thought, Lumine grasped what the room was for.
Clearly, it was Mobius's dwelling.
"Hey, yellow-haired brat, can't you walk any faster?"
Just as Lumine was silently making her way toward the room, the half-closed door was suddenly thrown open, revealing the soft lighting within and a clearly disgruntled Mobius.
But upon seeing this, Lumine didn't feel afraid right away. Standing next to the door, Mobius really was tiny in comparison, and combined with the displeased expression on her face, Lumine suddenly thought she looked rather cute.
What's this Lumine up to?
Mobius, who had expected to see Lumine looking frightened, found no such expression on her face—which left her utterly baffled.
Don't tell my cover is blown?
Impossible!
Mulling over every possibility with a blank face, Mobius still couldn't make sense of it.
"I'm here." Quickly picking up her pace, Lumine ca up in front of Mobius and said this.
She can't know what I was just thinking, can she?
Truth be told, Lumine was a little flustered just then—she had no idea how Mobius might feel about being thought of as cute.
Generally speaking, Mobius probably wouldn't appreciate being seen that way.
Of course, at the mont she shouldn't know that soone was already thinking of her like that.
Seeing that Lumine had co over, Mobius turned and walked back into the room, leaving Lumine unsure whether to follow her in or stay where she was.
"Hurry up and get in here." Just as Lumine was deliberating, Mobius's voice drifted out from inside.
"Okay."
After a brief pause, Lumine hurriedly answered.
Hm?
Two pillows?
The mont she stepped into the room, Lumine spotted the two pillows on the bed, and she couldn't help wondering why there were two of them.
Setting aside the possibility that Mobius simply liked to use two pillows on her own, the other obvious explanation was that there was soone else.
It couldn't be Kaito, could it?
But...
"What are you staring at? Wondering why there are two pillows?" Since Lumine had been fixating on the bed, Mobius caught on to her behavior right away.
Of course, the only reason things were set up this way was for the sake of her act—there wasn't actually anyone else.
"Uh... yeah." Whether it was because she was just too curious, Lumine actually nodded and gave a soft hum of confirmation.
But the mont she answered, she regretted it—she felt she shouldn't have pried so much.
After all, in normal circumstances, knowing too much was never a good thing.
There was nothing to be done now, though; the words were already out, and all she could do was see how Mobius would react.
"Why are you asking so much? I haven't even asked you anything yet." Upon hearing this, the anxious Lumine imdiately felt her heart settle.
Whatever the case, it was better for her not to know too much for now.
But still...
Was it really Kaito?
Since it might very well concern Kaito, Lumine couldn't help mulling it over—only this ti she didn't say it out loud.
"So what is it you want to ask ?" Feeling that she ought to say sothing, Lumine looked at Mobius and posed the question.
But after she spoke, Mobius didn't reply right away—instead she seed to be thinking about sothing, which struck Lumine as very strange.
Why does it feel like she's wrestling with sothing?
She had to admit, Lumine's curiosity was only growing.
"It's just..." Mobius started, but didn't go on.
It's just what?
Thinking this almost reflexively, Lumine truly was becoming more and more curious.
If a mont ago she had still been guessing whether Mobius was conflicted about sothing, now she was certain—Mobius was unmistakably wrestling with sothing.
Right...
It had to be sothing to do with Kaito...
But why would she be conflicted about it?
Kaito isn't even here...
"If you wanted to do that kind of thing with Kaito, how do you usually go about it?" After deliberating for a long while, under Lumine's puzzled gaze, Mobius finally voiced her question.
Lumine: "..."
Finally hearing what Mobius had asked, Lumine was stunned.
Of all things, she would never have imagined that Mobius had co to ask a question like this.
Although, given what she and Miko had just witnessed earlier, the question did seem sowhat reasonable, she still hadn't expected that anyone would co and ask her sothing like that.
More importantly, she didn't seem to have any idea how to answer such a question.
After all, sotis in the past the two of them would just exchange a single look and it would begin from there—how on earth was she supposed to explain that?
