Noah and Xin Yan, along with the father and son, arrived at the courtyard where every maid, guard, and other staff mber who was in the compromised area had gathered.
"What's going on?"
"Did we do sothing?"
"Did the city lord summon everyone?"
The chorus of voices died down when everyone saw the city lord arrive with two unknown people.
But noticing their unique appearance and the way their lord treated them made them realize the gravity of their status.
Suddenly everyone's attention was on the building they had just been evacuated from.
A sharp crack split the air.
The entire structure erupted from within.
The wooden walls shattered outward like glass, engulfed in a shockwave of dark crimson light.

A violent gust of hot wind swept across the courtyard, forcing everyone to shield their eyes. Followed by the wind, the deafening sound of the explosion made the weaker cultivators groan in pain, holding their heads.

From the ruins, a towering pillar of dark, ominous power surged towards the sky—its spiraling, snakelike form made of shadow and black fla made everyone's heart tremble in fear and shock.
Demonic power!
The swirling energy was thick with malevolence, laced with screams that seed to echo from the void.
Everyone with the basic information of the cultivation world knew about this energy, let alone these experienced cultivators.
Those who fall prey to the unorthodox path and use malicious ways to gain strength gain a trace of dark power, a sort of lingering resentnt from their victims, and this energy is labeled as demonic energy by the world.
Those who have even a bit of a trace of demonic energy on them are put under a microscopic inspection by the righteous sects to see if they have fallen in this path.
In the face of such a huge amount of energy, the result was pretty obvious.
Everyone in the estate now looked at the city lord with fear and doubts in their eyes. Those closer to him, except Noah and Xin Yan, created distance between them.
"Demonic energy…" Gasps and cries rang out among the gathered staff.
So dropped to their knees, and others staggered back in fear. The maids clutched their chests; the guards instinctively reached for their weapons, though all of them knew it was futile.
The sky darkened unnaturally as the pillar twisted higher and higher. The clouds turned dark, and a wave of dark emotions washed over the city, catching the attention of many people.
"Heaven… such a huge amount of resentnt. Who was the demonic being responsible for such a thing?"
"Can't you see, it's coming from the city lord's mansion?"
"How can this be? Anyone can be a demonic cultivator, but not our city lord."
"Could it be his son?"
"That should not be the case, right?"
Everyone in the Great Expanse City could see the pillar of dark energy and its effects. They all wondered who was responsible for this matter.
Several thought it was Gu Ren; they even claid that they had seen the signs of demonic infestation on him before.
Yet there were still so who thought the city lord was not who he seed to be in front of them and he was the real culprit behind this.

The city lord's voice cut through the chaos, cold and resolute. "Stand down. Do not let your fear consu you."
He did not care what others thought about him; he did not care about the look in their eyes.
"A demonic cultivator infiltrated the mansion and has attacked us. All the guards are to contain the energy—" He decided to use a temporary excuse to cover up the real reason this happened, but Noah stopped him.
"Let help." He offered it with a smile and raised his hand.
Gu Chen paused before nodding hurriedly. He knew that Noah was powerful, and if he was willing to lend a hand, who was he to deny it?
Woosh!
Under the astonished sight of the whole capital, Noah rose into the air without any external help.
A golden light enveloped his figure; a sword appeared on his waist.
"This is the first ti I will be using this move, right?" With a small smile tugging at his lips Noah whispered to himself and reached out for the sword.
The golden light from his body, enriched with pure yang energy, swept outwards. The blinding light made even the strongest of the cultivators present squint their eyes.
Woosh!
In a matter of no ti, a small sun seed to have appeared in the sky. The golden liquid rays on the surface moved around like the flas of the sun.
With the rays ca the heat; everyone underneath started to sweat from the sheer amount of heat radiating from his body.
"Dawn Series: Fourth Form."
Xin Yan felt her heart skip a beat hearing the words as clear as day echoing in her ears. The hair on her body stood on end as she felt a shiver running through it.
Whenever the wisps of energy from the 'sun' touched the dark miasma in the air, it overpowered the latter and obliterated it from the air.
"Holy Sun Vanquishes the Darkness."
From within the sun, Noah's voice ca, followed by a streak of golden light that shot towards the dark pillar.
Despite the powerful aura of coming from Noah's body, no one in the city felt the sense of powerlessness under it. They all felt a warm sensation covering their bodies.
Aside from the discomfort of the heat, they felt nothing but calmness on the inside.
Screech!
Once the holy light from the sun collided with the demonic energy, it produced a hissing sound, akin to a scream.
The heart-wrenching cries started to increase as the size of the pillar started decreasing. The dark clouds started to turn back to white.
"I would rather you not pollute my woman." Noah's faint, cold muttering to himself was only heard by Xin Yan, who felt her lips twitching from annoyance.
BOOM!
When he raised the output of his power, the energy exploded within the pillar, shattering almost instantly. The demonic energy dispersed in the air before the rays of the 'sun' enveloped the area, burning it all to nothing.
