The very mont the last ray of light of the sun vanished from the surface of the sky as the huge red orb subrged beyond the endless depths of the boundless ocean, the Lord of The Night went through various changes.
Its body no longer looked illusionary and distant, but it now had beco complexly solid like the rest of the people before it.
Another pair of beautiful pale green leaf-shaped thin wings appeared behind its back, flickering every so slightly as if they had been unleashed from their impalpable confinents.
Its darkness-filled eyes gained the luster of a spark that matched the stars in the skies. Its skin beca more radiant, and its power grew astronomically!
Woosh!
Raising the front two hooves in the air, the creature looked straight at the group of ten people and screeched in its inhumane, otherworldly voice, "Death to the intruders!"
Boom!
As the front legs of the centaur-like creature fell down with power, the ground within the barrier shook violently. Cracks ford on the barrier sooner than on the ground, faster than the soldiers had ever seen any courtesan spread their legs before them willingly.
A wave of energy surged from the Lord of the Night, pushing outwards in all directions. The seven guards holding the formation barely widened their eyes upon seeing the cracks before they felt a wave of wind sending them flying away like rag dolls.
Discarded in the wind, these seven figures struck different trees or boulders and coughed a mouthful of blood. Wuhan and the captain wanted to save them, but they were too focused on either the creature's movents or holding themselves steady.
Sylvheriel gasped for breaths under the deep pressure locked onto her, her hands tightly clutching her green robes. She moved closer to Wuhan, hoping he would protect her, but the man was too engrossed in his thoughts to pay attention to her actions.
"Budding Soul Realm… Embryonic soul…" Words ca out of Wuhan's mouth without him even realizing. Once the energy in the air settled, he could sense the newfound cultivation of the dangerous creature in front of him.
Not only had it gained several buffs in the darkness, but it also seed to have unknown abilities that were by no ans normal.
Even having the sa cultivation as the creature, Wuhan found himself deliberating how he would even deal with these creatures.
Instinctively a thought appeared in his mind.
How great it would have been if Noah were here!
The mont that thought flashed through his mind, Wuhan frowned.
'Have I grown that dependent on his miracle-like abilities?' He asked himself, thinking about his past actions since he had t Noah. Indeed, from what he recalled, he had grown accustod to how easily Noah got him out of tricky situations.
Although this feeling of reliance was very relaxing and intoxicating, Wuhan knew better. He was the ruler of the Feng Empire. How could he take advantage of the generosity of his friend always?
Will he also rely on him for every little thing just because they are… convenient?
Before he could ponder more on the aning of life questions and shit, Wuhan's body tingled. He felt his senses screaming danger as if they had sensed sothing dangerous heading his way.
Wuhan snapped out of his daze, feeling that sensation, and heard the whistling of a shiny arrow made of white light and a crystal tip moving straight towards him.
Wuhan's first thoughts were to move away from the path of the attack, but it was then he finally realized that soone had decided to take shelter behind his back as if it were so impenetrable fortress.
Even though the attack did not seem much different from the one he had seen a while ago, the speed it moved at had surpassed its previous records. Even if the captain wanted to block the attack, he could not even see it coming.
Having no choice, Wuhan decided to face the Lord of the Night head-on…
Woosh!!
Power surged within the emperor, and a warm radiance filled the dark forest, lighting it up brighter than the partially full moon in the sky.
Flas appeared around his body out of nowhere, licking the air around him. His golden hair turned red at the ends, and his eyes were completely swallowed by eternal flas.
Feeling the heat radiating from his body, Sylvheriel jumped back almost instantly. Her skin had turned red just from standing close to him. Had she stayed there a while longer, blisters would have ford on her body.
At the mont, Wuhan had his attention on no woman, no burning grass under him, and no shocked reactions of the guards that had managed to regain their bearing; all he looked at was the arrow an inch away from him and the creature who fired it tens of ters away.
Ti seed to have stilled as he took a step forward, his hands rose to the side, and his head tilted a little.
"Burn the shadows, swallow the wind, breathe in the life, and exhale the death." Strings of words like a chant left his mouth as the glow around him rose even further. "Ode of Phoenix—Embrace of the Fire."
Woosh!
Almost the mont the arrow was about to strike Wuhan, a huge phantom of a phoenix appeared behind Wuhan. The majestic world looked down at the world with its indifferent gaze of power.
Its feet never touched the ground, but it still floated even with its wings slowly wrapping around Wuhan in a warm embrace.
The two gracious wings of red and orange flas overlapped each other and ford a red shield that blocked the arrow from stabbing Wuhan. Instead of the sound of tal clashing against sothing hard, the sound of sizzling burns filled the air.
The tip of the arrow that still struggled to move forward was now slowly turning red from the unimaginable heat of the wings. The creature watched without moving as its arrow lted away before its eyes.
The red flas faded away once the attack was resolved, but Wuhan remained vigilant, knowing the fight had just started.
