Ravene's heart clenched a little.

"I get it, Elize," Ravene said softly.

"But Kael… he's growing up. And sotis, we have to let him make his own choices, even if they scare us."

Elize exhaled deeply, finally releasing her death grip on the counter. She looked away, then down at the half-filled mug of coffee.

"Doesn't an I have to like it," she muttered under her breath.

Ravene offered a small smile. "Want to spike your coffee with sothing stronger?"

Elize gave a short laugh, though it was more bitter than amused "At this point, maybe. What's next? He's going to tell he's dating multiple girls or sothing?"

Hearing this, Ravene stiffened like a board and her eyes widened.

Elize turned toward her suspiciously. "Wait… why did you just freeze up?"

"? Freeze up? No, I was just… startled by the sudden accuracy of that wild guess," Ravene said, forcing a nervous laugh.
