Lana reached her destination by 11 am.
The building was painted with a pastel blue color, with the left side of the building still having a patch of unpainted wall. There was much random graffiti, making the blue building connected with other red and stone buildings look particularly like an eyesore.
Inhaling a deep breath, Lana raised her hand and rang the bell. She waited for 3 minutes before she again rang the bell, and this ti the door was opened by a healthy middle-aged woman. The mont she spotted Lana, her beautiful phoenix eyes narrowed.
"Yes?"
"Hello, I am Lana from..." Before Lana could finish her words, the middle-aged woman showed her hand and said with irritation,
"Whatever sales company you are from, just leave. I am not interested in your no-na brand’s detergent!" With that, the woman tried to close the door, but Lana stopped her.
"Ma’am, I am here because your son Sterling has..."
The woman again interrupted Lana, but this ti, there was a trace of disdain in her eyes. "Oh... I see. You must be my son’s admirer, huh?"
Lana: (o_0?) Ma’am?
The woman’s eyes swept over Lana from head to toe, judging, asuring, and clearly unimpressed.
"So you’re another one of those girls," she said with a sigh.
"Every month, soone shows up looking for Sterling. Just because his face looks decent, all you college girls think you have a chance."
Lana blinked. ’...What kind of delusion is this woman living in?’
"Ma’am, I think you misunderstood... "
"Of course you’d deny it," the woman cut her off again. "They all do. First, they co with excuses, ’deliveries,’ ’projects,’ and ’schoolwork,’ and then eventually they confess they like him." She flicked her hair and scoffed.
"Let tell you this: Sterling is completely out of your league."
Lana’s expression slowly flattened.
’I ca here to exorcise sothing... not listen to her fantasy drama.’
She inhaled deeply and forced a polite smile. "Ma’am, I’m really not here to pursue your son."
"Oh?" The woman lifted a brow in mock seriousness. "Then why are you here?"
Lana took out the mission slip and showed it. "I’m here to exorcise the ghost."
The woman froze. Her eyelid twitched.
"Let reintroduce myself. I am Lana from Shadowridge University’s Mystic Departnt. I accepted a mission to exorcise the ghost in your house." Lana calmly stated.
For an entire mont, the woman examined the card before slowly side-stepping.
The disdain from her eyes vanished, replaced by shock and disbelief. After a mont, a hint of calculation appeared in her eyes. She suddenly held Lana’s hand with utter sincerity and fear.
"Thank god you are here, Miss Lana. I apologize for my earlier behavior. You see... I was tired and said so nonsense. Please co inside and..."
Lana calmly dodged the woman’s hand and said with a smile, "I only have 2 hours to finish this task. That’s my deadline, so please let investigate the house first."
With that, she bypassed the woman and started to check the living room.
Just as Lana had expected. All the furniture and electronic items were tinged with black fog visible only to her.
The woman followed behind Lana and started to babble.
"You see, my son Sterling is one of the most handso guys in the university. Till now, he has been proposed to by 20 won!"
Lana gave a perfunctory nod and continued to investigate.
The woman continued proudly,
"In fact, last week alone, three girls confessed! My boy is very popular. You should et him before leaving. Who knows if you’ll end up liking him!"
The woman sized Lana up and thought in her heart, ’If my son gets together with this woman, he will live a life of luxury!’
Who doesn’t know Shadowridge University?
It was the dream university of students and a matter of status among the parents.
The graduates of Shadowridge University are destined to have a 7-figure salary, if not 6!
While the woman fantasized about her son’s future, Lana kneeled beside the sofa and pressed her fingers against the floor.
A faint ripple of ghostly energy pulsed beneath the wooden tiles.
Mr. Crow whispered quietly from her shoulder, ’This fog is fresh. Very fresh. Sothing is lingering here even during the day.’
Lana nodded slightly, then stood up and examined the walls. "How long has Sterling been experiencing disturbances?"
The woman instantly switched back to panic mode.
"A few months... But recently it’s gotten worse. Sterling started locking himself in his room. And sotis, sotis I hear him crying."
Lana looked up sharply. "Crying?"
The woman bit her lip nervously. "Yes. And when I asked him why... he said he wasn’t alone."
Lana was speechless.
’Well... when we feel the presence of a ghost, of course, we can’t say that we are alone...’
"Alright, can you lead to his room?" Lana asked, and the middle-aged woman nodded.
Soon they arrived outside his room, and Lana could already see a huge wall of black fog. For a brief mont, she was taken aback.
’Mr. Crow senses if the ghost has cultivation way above my current rank?’
’Right away.’ Mr. Crow stated and used his psychic energy to scan the room from outside. Soon, he opened his eyes and explained, ’The rank of ghost is low; however, there isn’t just one ghost here.’
’How many?’ Lana asked grimly.
’Five, Each with a cultivation base of 4 years.’ Mr. Crow replied.
Lana calculated and realized that she would need to deal with the ghost separately.
’How many are inside now?’ Lana asked, while the middle-aged woman wondered why Lana was standing outside the door like a statue.
’Don’t tell ... she has been possessed!’ The middle-aged woman slowly stepped back in fear.
’Only two are inside.’ Mr. Crow replied to Lana, who finally took action and opened the door of the room.
The middle-aged woman’s heart leapt to her throat, and she almost scread; however, she stopped when she realized that Lana was just entering the room.
The next second, Lana entered, and the scene made her speechless.
