It was ti for lunch.
The kitchen servants dragged away the dead goats. Soon, the rich aroma of roasted at began to waft through the air.
Guards brought over enormous wooden basins.
The Giants who hadn’t "accidentally injured" their comrades during training each had a large, sizzling leg or rack of lamb placed before them.
But the Giants whose Wolf Fang Clubs were stained with goat brains and blood still received a basin of thin, watery white congee.
The savory sll of the at and the blandness of the rice paste ford a stark contrast.
Punishnt was more effective than any lecture.
When the afternoon training session began, the attitude of all the Giants had changed.
They no longer simply vented their Power, but began to "think."
Before swinging their clubs, they would first gently nudge the surrounding goats aside with their feet.
They would observe the positions of their companions to ensure no one else was within their attack range.
Their movents beca slower, yet also more steady and precise.
Of course, accidents still happened.
Over the course of the afternoon, a few more goats "perished" for a variety of bizarre reasons.
One was sat on and crushed when a Giant dodged. Another was killed by a dropped Wolf Fang Club. There was even one that was caught between two Giants and scared to death.
Each dead goat ant another Giant would have to face that desperate basin of white congee for dinner.
After killing more than twenty goats and paying the painful "price of congee," these simple-minded behemoths finally achieved a zero-casualty record in the last round of training at dusk.
When the whistle blew to signal the end, the fourteen Giants carefully placed their Wolf Fang Clubs on the ground. After confirming that not a single goat had been hard, they let out a thunderous cheer in unison.
「Dusk.」
The bonfire blazed brightly, illuminating the bronze skin and satisfied faces of the Hill Giants.
They were finally all eating the whole roasted sheep they had dread of.
A massive wooden spit held a whole roasted sheep, its fat dripping into the Fla and making a SIZZLING sound. The rich aroma of at filled the air.
The Giants no longer scrambled for food like reincarnated starving ghosts. Instead, they sat together in a circle, tearing off large chunks of mutton with their thick fingers, stuffing it into their mouths, and chewing heartily, letting out satisfied grunts from their throats.
This al tasted especially delicious to them, because they had earned it with their sweat and "wisdom."
Sun watched this group of simple, honest behemoths, a rare hint of satisfaction showing in his golden eyes.
’The process was a disaster, but the result isn’t half bad.’
’These blockheads have finally learned to control their own brutish strength.’
"Looks like it’s working well."
Raylo walked over to Sun and took out a roasted steak of Magical Beast at that was as large as half a cow.
Sun opened his giant mouth, swallowed the steak in one bite, and said indistinctly,
"The bunch of idiots finally got a clue. But if you want them to beco real warriors, just knowing how to smash wooden stakes isn’t enough."
"Of course."
Raylo’s gaze went past the bonfire, settling on the distant horizon.
"The true whetstone will always be the battlefield."
He knew in his heart that no matter how agile the goats on the training ground were, they were no match for the cunning enemies on a battlefield.
The Giants needed a real victory to permanently brand the results of their training into their simple minds.
During the ti spent training the Giants, other work hadn’t been idle either.
「Half a month later, in the laboratory on the top floor of the Mage Tower.」
The air was filled with the strange sll of various Magic Materials mixed together, a pungent odor laced with a peculiar fragrance.
Master Barnaby still had his usual disheveled appearance. His gray Mage Robe was stained with Potion blotches of unknown colors, and his ssy hair looked like a beehive that had been sward.
But his eyes were astonishingly bright at this mont, as if Stars were burning within them.
"Success! I’ve succeeded!"
He held up a translucent Crystal Test Tube and shouted at Raylo, who had just entered. His beard trembled with excitent.
Inside the test tube was a half-full asure of golden liquid.
The golden liquid in the test tube was pure and clear, like molten Gold, emitting a soft, warm halo that brightened the entire laboratory.
A vast and pure aura of life and Magic Power emanated from the test tube. Just slling it was enough to invigorate the senses.
"Is this the new Potion concocted from Dragon Blood Grass?"
Raylo stepped forward and took the test tube.
It was slightly warm to the touch, and he could clearly feel the imnse energy contained within.
"It’s more than just a concoction!"
Master Barnaby said proudly.
"I’ve drastically innovated upon the original Magical Beast Growth Potion formula."
"Dragon Blood Grass, plus the Bone Marrow Fluid from a Tier Five Domain Level Magical Beast as the main ingredients, fused with Star Flower Pollen, Life Spring Water, and... ahem, a little of my own secret formula. It can greatly stimulate the latent potential within a Magical Beast, promote bloodline evolution, and purify its Magic Power. Of course, the effects vary by individual. The more powerful the Magical Beast’s bloodline, the more significant the effect."
"I’ve nad it ’Dragon Blood Starlight’!"
He rubbed his hands together, looking at Raylo with a fervent gaze.
"You’ve worked hard, Master."
Raylo praised Master Barnaby, expressing his admiration and approval, before carefully putting the test tube away.
He turned and left the laboratory, leaving Master Barnaby behind, still buzzing with excitent over his masterpiece.
Back in his study, Moonlight was curled up into a furball, napping on the soft carpet.
Coal Ball was lying beside it like a black pillow, drooling in its sleep.
