A night of rest.
When two suns, one gold and one white, rose into the sky together, the Endless Forest Sea awoke from its slumber. The morning mist stead and dissipated under the splendor of the twin suns.
Raylo and his party set out once more, their destination clear.
The Mammoth Basin to the South.
The heavy footsteps of the Hill Giants were like war drums, making the earth tremble slightly with every step.
They shouldered massive Wolf Fang Clubs. Above the party, Griffin Knights ford patrol formations, watching for any potential threats.
Raylo rode on the back of the Storm Griffin King, Baofeng. In front of him, Moonlight lay lazily, the fluffy tip of its tail occasionally sweeping across Raylo’s arm.
The two-hour journey was quickly shortened by the tireless pace of the Giants.
Soon, a clear stream appeared before them.
The water wasn’t deep, just enough to cover the Giants’ ankles. It gurgled as it flowed eastward, eventually rging into the Canglan River.
After wading across the stream, the terrain suddenly opened up.
A vast basin unfolded before Raylo’s eyes.
Looking down from high above, the basin was carpeted in green grass, dotted with herds of Magical Beasts.
A Mammoth Herd, their bodies as massive as small hills, leisurely swung their long trunks as they drank by the water’s edge. A herd of spiral-horned antelopes chased each other playfully across the grassland. Along with other unidentifiable Herbivorous Magical Beasts, they ford a peaceful and serene scene.
"What a great place."
Raylo couldn’t help but marvel.
He patted Baofeng beneath him, signaling it to descend.
"Sun."
Raylo called out.
The Golden Dragon’s enormous head lowered, its golden eyes fixed on Raylo.
"Tell Kado to take his people and capture so mammoths. Have him start by catching a ’two-and-two palms’ worth of them."
Sun rumbled, relaying Raylo’s command to Kado on the ground.
After listening, a confused expression appeared on Kado’s massive face.
He scratched his ssy hair, then held out his huge, fan-like hand. He gestured with it open, then closed it and held up four thick fingers, letting out a few muffled roars at Sun.
A strange look seed to flash across Sun’s draconic face. It turned its head to Raylo and said,
"Kado asks if you an as many as ’four palms’?"
Raylo: "..."
He felt as if this simple-minded Giant had dragged his intelligence down to his level, only to defeat him with a wealth of experience.
And it was obvious Kado was right; "four palms" was much clearer and easier to understand than "two-and-two palms."
Having lost face, Raylo decided he would start a math class for these big guys when they got back. Anyone who couldn’t learn arithtic would be forbidden from eating at.
"Yes, a quantity of four palms,"
Raylo said.
Sun relayed the order once more.
This ti, Kado seed to understand. He excitedly pounded his chest, letting out a heaven-shaking roar.
He called to his companions, took the thick ropes and specially made giant Beast Capture Nets from the Griffin Knights, and charged into the basin with a great howl.
For these Hill Giants, who stood over ten ters tall on average, capturing mammoths was indeed more like a fun ga.
Their running speed was astonishing. With a single stride, their long legs could cover more than ten ters, and their stamina was seemingly endless.
The Mammoth Herd, which had previously reigned supre in the basin, were instantly turned into frightened rabbits before these even larger "predators."
Long, mournful cries echoed throughout the basin.
The Hill Giants let out joyous roars. After their training in the Black Stone Territory, they had clearly developed a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
They split into several groups, casting out giant nets like canopies from the sky, accurately ensnaring the panicked mammoths.
The netted mammoths struggled fiercely, but the Giants’ Power was greater. Working together in groups of two or three, they easily pinned an adult mammoth to the ground, then skillfully tied its tusks or head with thick ropes.
The entire basin was thrown into chaos. All kinds of Herbivorous Magical Beasts scattered and fled, leaving only the rising and falling laughter and roars of the Hill Giants.
Watching this scene from the air, Raylo nodded in satisfaction.
Kado and his people were simply natural-born Giant Beast catchers.
In less than two hours, twenty plump and sturdy adult mammoths were led back, each tied with ropes and pulled by the Hill Giants.
Raylo glanced at the sky. The twin suns were still climbing, so distance away from their zenith.
"Well done,"
he praised, then gave another order through Sun.
"It’s still early, Kado. Take your n and go capture another ’two palms’ worth."
"Also."
Raylo turned to the Griffin Knight behind him.
"Ed, organize so n, build a fire on the high ground at the edge of the basin, and prepare to roast so at. When Kado and the others get back, double portions of roasted at for all the Giants!"
"Yes, my lord!"
Ed accepted the order and departed.
Soon, wisps of cooking smoke rose from a highland at the edge of the basin.
The soldiers set up huge roasting racks, cleaned the Magical Beast at they had brought, rubbed it with spices and salt, and began to roast it.
The rich aroma of at, mixed with the SIZZLE of fat being rendered by the Fla, drifted far into the distance.
Kado and the Giants, who were just about to set out again, caught the scent, and their mouths imdiately began to water.
Hearing they would get double portions of roasted at upon their return, the Giants were instantly filled with motivation. The roars they let out were even louder than before.
This ti, their efficiency was even greater.
In less than an hour, ten new mammoth captives were brought back.
