"Yes... Only ..." Alexander replied.
He had always wanted to be at the top. He even waited for Shane and Lancelot to get injured in their previous duel, but in the end, he didn’t manage to find a chance to take advantage of their battle.
They just left at that ti without doing anything...
Well, the Floating Fortress was also there, so it was difficult to make a move...
This ti, however, he had a perfect bait to lure out so important people working for Shane. He was lucky that Raze was the one who had decided to punish Niles.
Just like that, the ruined town seed to hold its breath as Alexander stepped forward...
About two hundred survivors surrounded Raze, each one ard with their own weapons... They were also with various talents or items she couldn’t predict.
"What a shitty situation..." Raze muttered.
She knew the truth... In this apocalypse, the dead were dangerous, but the living, Survivors with talents, were the true predators at the later stage of this Apocalypse.
Raze’s grip tightened on the Heartwood Halberd. Roan’s tattoo burned faintly on her arm, but she didn’t summon him. Not yet.
Roan was too large, too obvious a target. Against this many opponents, her dragon would be overwheld, pinned down by sheer numbers and relentless attacks.
She couldn’t let Roan die again...
Soon, Alexander’s voice carried across the crowd. "Raze. Join us. Your dragon would be invaluable. With you, we could dominate every shelter, every territory. Eclipse Revenant is nothing compared to what we’re building."
Raze’s lips curved into a cold smile. "My loyalty is with Shane. I don’t bend to opportunists."
Alexander’s eyes didn’t change. He was confident that he’d get Raze to serve him and perhaps beco one of his wives...
"Then you’ll be forced. I’m sure you’re already aware of it. One of us has a talent that can make you obey. You won’t have a choice."
Raze laughed as she heard this. ’You think compulsion will work on ?’
She had many tricks up her sleeves and there was no way she’d easily get controlled by soone else.
She was a high-level Survivor after all!
Her hand brushed against her inventory pouch. Inside was the Silent Requiem Bell, upgraded from the auction house.
She had kept it hidden, waiting for the right mont.
[ Silent Requiem Bell (Legendary): A bell created by a monk-cult to sever sound and vibration. When rung, it creates a Silence Zone ( 300-ter radius ) for 30 seconds, nullifying sound-based detection, communication, and even any usage of Survivor Skills.
Recharge: 10 minutes.
Warning: Overuse may cause the wielder to temporarily lose their sense of hearing. ]
But before she could act, the first wave of attacks ca.
Arrows streaked from rooftops, glowing with elental fire. Bolts of ice whistled through the air, exploding into shards on impact. Wind blades sliced across the pavent, forcing her to dodge.
Just like that, energy blasts hamred the ground around her, not aid to kill but to wear her down!
They weren’t trying to finish her. They were trying to exhaust her and Raze understood this.
Raze darted between attacks with her halberd spinning to deflect projectiles.
Her draconic aura was imdiately triggered with wings of fla bursting behind her as Flaheart Valkyrie activated.
She cut down a barrage of arrows mid‑flight, but for every strike she blocked, another ca from a different angle.
She gritted her teeth.
’Two hundred talents. I don’t even know what half of them can do.’ She mused.
Indeed, they could have super strength, invisibility, sharpshooting, summoning, and many others... This wasn’t a fight against zombies after all.
Still, she refused to summon Roan.
Seeing what they were capable of, she confird that her dragon would die here. Roan was too massive. He’ll be the target for every ranged attack. They would swarm him, overwhelm him, and she couldn’t risk losing her bond.
Instead, she reached into her inventory and pulled out three black stones for now. She hurled them to the ground.
The stones cracked open, releasing a foul mist. From it erged three figures, Zombie Leaders!
"Shit..." Raze cursed as she saw a Siren Leader Zombie with its shriek echoing through the air. A Smoker Leader Zombie, coughing out toxic fus, and a Crawler Leader Zombie, skittering across the pavent...
Raze helplessly smiled seeing this. She wanted a Zombie King or even a Zombie Lord to appear! However, they were rely Leader-Type Zombies!
These Zombies weren’t that aweso alone! They had to be leading an army of Zombies!
The crowd only hesitated for a mont, but then they realized that they were just high-tier Zombies.
"Kill them!"
Soon, many projectiles flew... Fireballs, lightning strikes, blades of wind, and many others!
The three zombies were torn apart in seconds, with their bodies collapsing into ash.
Raze clicked her tongue. "I hate gacha."
Luck wasn’t on her side.
Still, the distraction bought her a few precious seconds. Enough to trigger her bell!
She finally raised the Silent Requiem Bell. Its surface glead with a faint, eerie light and she rang it once.
"Please work!"
Cling~ Cling~
The sound was swallowed instantly. A wave of silence rippled outward, blanketing the battlefield in a 300‑ter radius.
Suddenly, everything seed to have stopped. No voices. No footsteps. No clash of steel. Even the hum of projectiles vanished. The Silence Zone had been created!
For thirty seconds, all sound‑based detection, communication, and Survivor Skills were nullified.
Raze felt the weight of it imdiately.
Her own skills were actually cut off... The affected ones weren’t just the enemies...
Still, her bond with Roan was not muted since it was too strong! It was one of the benefits of completing her Ascension Quest!
During this ti, the crowd faltered, seeing that their attacks had been dealt with...
Survivors who relied on elental powers, summoning, or skill‑based enhancents suddenly found themselves powerless. Confusion rippled through their ranks.
Raze smirked. "Let’s see how strong you are without your toys."
She lunged forward with her halberd... Without skills, her raw strength and speed carried her.
She cut through the first line of survivors, her blade piercing armor, scattering them like leaves.
Sssakkk~ Sssaakkk~
She couldn’t use her Survivor Skills, but she didn’t mind. Even with just pure muscle or pure technique, she knew she’d win! She had been blessed by a dragon after all!
Of course, so of the Survivors on Alexander’s side were also special. Even without skills, many had trained bodies, or enchanted weapons they could rely on. Blades clashed against her halberd, shields blocked her strikes, and fists swung with brute force.
Raze gritted her teeth...
She pushed forward, halberd sweeping wide, knocking three opponents back. But more surged in. She couldn’t hold them all.
Her hand brushed against Shane’s tokens. Even in silence, they actually worked.
After confirming the distance, she knew that she could use it now!
Suddenly, she activated an Armored Dash Token, her body surging forward in a burst of speed! She barreled through the crowd, scattering enemies, breaking their formation.
Boom!
Then, she dashed again, weaving through the ring of survivors, halberd cutting down anyone in her path. In just a few seconds, so many bodies fell to the ground!
Still, her bell only works for 30 seconds! She had to move quickly!
"I need to be quick..." Raze muttered as she escaped the encirclent of the Phoenix Phalanx!
"What?!" Alexander was shocked. He didn’t expect that such an item existed in the first place.
The ability to jam their Survivor Skills wasn’t sothing he had ever imagined being used by a single person!
Still, after the thirty seconds ticked away. The silence began to fade. Survivors’ Skills flickered back to life with their flas reignited, ice shards ford, and other skills being activated... Then, they imdiately chased Raze!
"Tsk... Let’s see..."
Raze finally summoned Roan, the red dragon bursting forth in a blaze of fla and wings that shook the ruined town. But she didn’t climb onto his back or prepare to escape.
Her eyes were focused, scanning the crowd. This wasn’t about fleeing... it was bait!
And just as she expected, the trap revealed itself.
More than thirty survivors imdiately reached into their pockets, pulling out talismans that glowed with ominous energy.
The sight made Raze’s stomach twist. "I knew it! That’s why I had a bad feeling!" she muttered, panic flashing across her face.
Those talismans weren’t ordinary charms. She could feel it, they were designed to seal, bind, or even kill Roan.
The survivors didn’t want her, they wanted the dragon!
She could easily guess that they wanted his fangs, his blood, his bones, his scales, and others! As a matter of fact, every piece of him could be harvested, sold, or reforged into weapons and artifacts.
Without hesitation, Raze canceled the summoning, Roan dissolving back into the tattoo on her arm!
"w?" Roan was confused after realizing that he was about to be returned.
However, Raze had no ti to explain since she had to do it before the talismans could activate.
As expected, the crowd’s disappointnt was there as soon as they failed to catch Roan.
"They wanted Roan all along..." she thought grimly as she looked coldly at Alexander.
If she ever gets out of here, she’d request the Floating Fortress to bombard this person’s shelter!
