Now reading: Chapter 635: First and Second Horde from Global Awakening: Apocalypse Ender's Chronicle, a Action novel by xlntz.

In the anti, in the outskirts of Sector 20, beneath the earth and behind walls of black steel and bones, Asad the Necromancer sat at his throne within his Black Citadel while the Grimhold Staff was in his hands.

The area above the shelter had snow as well, but of course, it did not enter the shelter itself.

There was only the coldness in the air, as Asad didn't really install any heaters deep underground. Well, it certainly made sense since, aside from him, his residents were all Undead Creatures.

Asad glanced at the System's warning about the Fourth Zombie Wave.

"Let's see what you bring." He muttered softly as he knew the first batch of the Zombie Horde would help him know what kind of progression he'd face…

'I hope no Armored Zombie in the first batch.' He mused.

After all, if the wave started with such a high level of zombies, then within 24 hours, the escalation might be too much for him, and he might have to escape at so point.

He wouldn't want that to happen since they would be evaluated once the Zombie Wave ended.

'Shane… I will have to score more than you this ti.' He mused. With four shelters, he believed that Shane would have a huge problem. And that would be the casualties.

After all, casualties or various failures in the Zombie Wave could be deducted from his score.

With 5,600 Spirit Points at his command, Asad raised his staff and commanded his Army…

Of course, they had all been summoned already, and he was now in full Spirit Points.

In normal cases, he could only summon undead creatures that would fit his Spirit Points.

Now, since Lich was worth 800 Spirit Points, he should only be able to summon 7 Undead Liches. However, with his Black Grimoire of Eternal Night together with his Grimhold Staff, he could store or tie these Undead Summons to his Artifacts.

With that, the burden was no longer on him but on the Artifact.

Because of this cheat-like item, he could summon a huge number of Undead Creatures without caring about the capacity that he had.

Furthermore, with the ritual he had recently completed, he was able to summon a very special Lich.

This Lich had a na. He was Malakar the Eternal, a Lich bound to Asad's will.

"Master," it spoke as he led a group of Lich with him...

"Prepare the army…" Asad ordered.

The Lich's skeletal fingers tightened as it had been waiting for such an order to co. Just like that, thousands of skeletal warriors gathered on the surface. They were ard with rusted blades and shattered shields.

They may be called cannon fodder, but with their sheer number, any Low-Tier Zombies would still find themselves crushed by their force.

Then, aside from the Liches and their summons, there were also Doom Knights who were normally worth 1,200 Spirit Points if summoned.

These Doom Knights were clad in black plate armor and equipped with greatswords that could summon ghostly fla.

As soon as Asad looked at him, the latter imdiately knelt and bowed his head.

"Command ." He spoke.

"Just hold the gates with your team..." Asad said. "Nothing should pass through those gates."

"Yes, My Lord."

Of course, aside from these Undead Creatures, there were also others.

Asad used his Grimoire to release the lesser undead. He had prepared for this for so long, so the number of his summons was already huge.

Ghouls were 10 Spirit Points each. They were creatures that would always shriek upon seeing their targets, and they also had razor-sharp claws.

Then, there were Plague Hounds worth 50 Spirit Points each. They were rotting canines with venom-dripping fangs.

There were also Bone Behemoths worth about 200 to 300 Spirit Points each, depending on the size that was summoned. They were basically towering skeletons that moved to kill the living.

Finally, he also released his Shadow Wraiths, which were worth 200 Spirit Points each. Well, he needed to have so air units to deal with Flying Zombies and other threats from the sky.

These Shadow Wraiths would be his answer.

By the ti Asad focused on his army, he realized that they were already an over 2,000-strong force of Undead.

He now felt confident about the upcoming Zombie Wave.

Then, as the tir hit zero, the Zombie Wave ca like a flood.

The first wave was the Flying or Winged Zombies…

Thankfully, he had prepared against such opponents.

"Wraiths," Asad commanded from within his shelter while sitting on his throne.

Well, with his level of Necromancy, he could already command his army from afar and observe the surroundings with various spells and other tricks.

Soon, the Shadow Wraiths shot upward, their ethereal forms passed through the zombies' flesh and sucking them dry mid-flight!

Indeed, Zombies may be undead creatures, but they still have energy inside their bodies.

Needless to say, it was their target. The Wraiths were taking this energy that animates them!

Just like that, Asad received various notifications from the system, telling him that he had eliminated a Zombie.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Corpses rained down as their wings failed to lift their bodies after losing the energy within their cores.

Next ca the Sprinters and Runner Zombies. They had very fit physiques, and they were able to dart across the snow quite easily.

"Ghouls…" Asad ordered.

His Ghoul Swarms surged forward, eting the Runners in a clash of teeth and claws!

Boom!

The Ghouls tore into the Zombie Horde as their limbs were built for combat, unlike the Runner Zombies, who only had a strong montum thanks to their running montum.

As soon as they clashed with each other, the difference in fighting power was imdiately noticed with the Ghouls' incredible combat instinct, unlike the Runner Zombies who could grab and bite people…

"Still easy…" He muttered to himself.

However, behind the Runner Zombies were actually a huge batch of Juggernaught Zombies coming at them... These Juggernaut Zombies weren't easy to deal with as they could litteraly block cannons with their bare hands….

Their fists were capable of shattering not just stone but even cannon balls!

"Bone Behemoths… Your turn." Asad called.

His Bone Behemoths moved forward and soon t the Juggernauts in a colossal impact.

Boom!

Bones cracked and Armor splintered from the heavy clash...

The battle was still ongoing when, at this ti, various Spitter Zombie Variants and Skin Crawler Zombies started moving sneakily from behind them.

Unfortunately for them, Asad had various scouts located there, and he knew what was going on.

"Malakar," Asad said.

The Lich then raised its staff, and a wave of dark energy rolled over the battlefield.

The Spitters' acid turned to harmless mud while the Skin Crawlers' flesh blackened and started withering as if they also lost their Zombie Cores.

'This Grimoire is really aweso…' Asad mused as he watched the battlefield with his Remote Eye.

With the Black Grimoire of Eternal Night in his possession, Asad's control was absolute.

Every zombie felled by his forces rose again as a skeletal thrall. Because of that, he wasn't losing in terms of number!

Furthermore, even if they were losing, he could easily use the Grimoire to just summon more.

Well, he had recerntly obtained Spirit Stones from Shane, and with those in his possession, he would have to worry about running out of Spirit Stones for a while.

After about an hour of facing the Zombie Wave, the Ebon Legion didn't dwindle. As a matter of fact, they had doubled in size!

With the Liches and the Grimoire's powers, they were able to bring them back to life!

"Whew… That was incredible…" Asad muttered.

The snow still fell, but now it landed on a field of twitching corpses and standing skeletons…

"The first horde is cleared…"

Asad lowered his staff, satisfied with the result of the battle.

Of course, that was just 1 hour of the 24-hour Zombie Wave!

***

Asad had barely looted those that must be looted when the earth itself began to tremble.

"Just 20 minutes of rest? Alright… I guess that's reasonable." He muttered to himself as he prepared his army once again.

This ti, Asad felt a bit cautious…

'This… Are we facing Elental Zombies this ti?' He frowned for a bit since his Skeleton Army could be in huge trouble against such enemies.

Indeed, from afar, his scouts recognized the Zombies coming at them.

First, there were Stoneskin Zombies. They had near-immunity to physical damage. Their special attacks were known as Strong Stomp, which could rupture the ground and knock their foes off balance.

Then, there were also Earth Zombies behind them. Aside from their tough skin, they could slightly manipulate the earth around them, and of course, they had super-strong regeneration. It was as if they could draw vitality from the soil!

Then, there were also the Fire Zombies… They were burning Zombies, and their abilities include Incendiary Touch and Explosive Death…

As the na suggests, anything they touch could burst into flas, and if you destroy them, they would detonate like grenades.
