Chapter 812: The Fortress

The workers obeyed the orders without hesitation.

Soon, there were already sparks from welding, the sound of hamring, and the grinding of gears filled the surroundings…

The survivors were already experienced after so many battles they’ve fought against different types of Zombies. Every skirmish only made them faster and more efficient.

As for the slain zombies, the looting Survivors were already moving in.

They imdiately looted the hundreds of Fleshy ch Zombies and obtained not just experience points but also the necessary materials that would soon be contributed to the Shelter and managed by a group working at the warehouse or inventory.

Still, there were quite a few new materials looted.

So of the chanical grafts that were looted would probably be set aside for study, while the other materials, like unknown at, blood samples, and others, were sealed in containers, as most of the blood was given to Shane or Anna, since they were the ones with access to Blood Alchemy.

It wouldn’t be surprising if Shane and Anna were able to co up with a new Skill thanks to the blood.

By the ti the sun began to dip toward the horizon, the Silver Mine Camp had settled once more.

The fires were extinguished, the traps were half-restored, and the watchtowers were manned again.

Though the mory of the new zombies weighed heavily on everyone’s minds, as they might be attacked once again, the mine had returned to its usual atmosphere.

The miners had already started searching for the boulder-sized Spirit Stones.

A day later, Shane already had a rough idea about where the Vampire Lord had been hiding…

Statham, the one who had dared to attack the Eclipse Domain, slaughtered many of his people. They had just finished the funeral yesterday, and he promised that he’d take revenge.

The rage was still deep within his chest, but he refused to let it consu him. He didn’t plan to just co unprepared.

“No… not yet…” Shane muttered to himself.

“If I move too soon, I’ll be walking into a trap. Better to prepare thoroughly.”

Since Statham was basically another Foreign Survivor like them, he knew that the man would be smart enough to prepare traps when he was followed to his base.

Shane wouldn’t fall for that so easily.

With that decision firm in his mind, he left the walls of the Eclipse Domain.

About three hundred ters away from the shelter, the ground had already been cleared and reinforced for sothing special.

Two Titan-Class Armored APCs rumbled forward as they carried Shane and his closest allies.

Inside the lead vehicle, Tundra gripped the steering controls with his eyes fixed on the terrain.

Beside Shane sat Lysandra, her expression was filled with curiosity and anticipation. She rarely let excitent show, but even she couldn’t deny that this mont was special.

Across from them, Raze leaned forward… Her dragon companion, Roan, curled lazily at his feet, and it was already capable of controlling its size anyti it wanted.

Apparently, Raze bought this skill for Roan in the Grand Auction Nexus.

Soon, the APCs ca to a halt at the designated clearing.

Shane was the first to step out as he observed the surroundings.

His hand went to his storage inventory, and with a flick of his wrist, he produced a simple bottle with a strange thing inside…

The bottle looked unassuming, but every Survivor present knew what it was. It was the item Shane had won in the auction for 710,000 points!

“The Floating Fortress…” Lysandra whispered. She was excited about what was about to co.

She only heard how the Auctioneer hyped up this item. Now, they were about to see whether it lived up to its extravagant price.

Even Raze felt excited about this.

The floating fortress was like a peak of technology that could exist in this Zombie Apocalypse world.

Once it was operating, they could be considered the strongest Clan, and only flying Zombies could probably threaten them. As for the operating cost of the Fortress, Shane should be able to handle it with his mysterious source of Mana Crystals.

“Heh… I still can’t believe you bought it. Guess we’re really stepping into a new league.” Raze muttered.

Shane smirked faintly, saying nothing as he twisted the cap free.

The mont the bottle was uncorked, a pulse of energy swept outward.

Soon, a swirl of black and silver mist surged into the air, rging into imaginary lines and forming the fortress’s frawork.

The survivors shielded their eyes as the construct rapidly expanded…

Whom~

After a few monts, the fortress manifested above the clearing, suspended effortlessly in midair!

“It’s huge…” Lysandra muttered while looking at the bottom of the fortress that was all made of steel.

“This is just so cool.” Raze nodded as she couldn’t help but stop the urge to ride Roan and board it before Shane could.

“B-but… Wait, how are we supposed to board it? Where’s the ladder or sothing?” Tundra suddenly said, as he had no ability to fly or leap that high at all.

The Floating Fortress wasn’t too huge… It was only the size of a football field. Still, it dwarfed everything nearby.

From their position, aside from the lowest part that was made of steel, they could still sowhat see the walls and so tiny mounted turret emplacents at its edges. As they moved away, they also noticed so towering spires jutted upward.

“This is just too cool…” Raze muttered.

“How is this even allowed to exist? This is cheating.” Tundra muttered while craning his neck to see it in full.

Roan, sensing the power, stretched its wings and seed to feel so threat to it… Or perhaps, it was acknowledging the fortress as a worthy den.

At this mont, however, Shane was looking at his system interface, giving him information about the Fortress.

After feeling satisfied, the ground shuddered as massive chains of light extended downward, anchoring the fortress in place above the clearing. Indeed, Shane just controlled it using the system…

Shane gazed up at it as he clenched his fist.

This wasn’t just a shelter. It was a mobile sanctuary, a fortress that could shift the tide of wars against the Zombies.
