Now reading: Chapter 255: Cancer Faction and the Sister from Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System, a Fantasy novel by xlntz.

Kai’s group walked away from the Cancer Faction’s gates silently...

Since they were still in the territory of the enemy, they had to tread carefully.

Humphrey’s words were arrogant, dismissive, and threatening. If they provoke the nasty man, they might not care about the public and start attacking them.

They didn’t want a fight right now... Still, none of them liked the idea of being "marked" by an Elder, especially one who had made it clear he wanted i.

"I rember his face..." Kai muttered. His expression remained calm as he gave a death sentence to Humphrey.

i smiled after seeing this. She could tell what was going on in his mind. "Yes. We’ll destroy them once we get stronger."

Everyone could tell imdiately that Humphrey and his guards were far above their current level. Entry into Caron City required Level 30, but the way those n carried themselves, the confidence in their stance, and the faint aura of their Gene Skills suggested they were Level 40 or higher. It wouldn’t even be surprising if they had already fused or combined their skills...

Facing them now would be suicide.

Furthermore, they knew each faction had its own special abilities, unique mutations or techniques that gave them dominance in the city.

Without proper information, charging head‑on into conflict would be reckless. For now, they had to lie low, gather intelligence, and build their strength.

"Haha... That’s right! We’ll get back to them..." Farrah muttered under his breath, his tone steady but filled with resolve.

"First... I need to get rich..." Kai muttered.

He already had a plan forming. The Gift Packs he possessed were his greatest advantage, a source of wealth and influence if used correctly.

With them, he could flood the market with stimulants, potions, and advanced equipnt. But there was a problem... he produced too many items at once. He couldn’t sell them all quickly without drawing unwanted attention.

For example, if he opened a superior‑grade Water Gift Pack just to sell Gene Stimulants and Spirit‑Boosting Potions, he would also end up with an atmospheric water generator, a portable desalination unit, a fire extinguisher, and even stainless steel tumblers. Since his inventory couldn’t store excess items indefinitely, he would have to store them sowhere or be forced to sell those as well.

That ant his presence in the market would be noticed sooner or later.

Kai considered the situation carefully. If he wanted to avoid suspicion, he might need to open a store himself... a front to sell off the surplus items without appearing desperate or careless.

But as he observed Caron City, it was clear that the families controlled most of the trade. Independent shops were rare, and faction oversight was everywhere.

To establish a foothold, he would need backing.

"Mhmm... Is it ti to visit him?" Kai mused.

His thoughts turned to Cornelio Aries, the Level 80 Survivor from the Aries Faction.

Cornelio had already shown interest in him before, and perhaps that connection could be leveraged.

With Cornelio’s support, Kai could probably secure a legitimate channel to sell his items, shielded from faction interference. It was a dangerous gamble, but one that might pay off.

For now, however, there was sothing more pressing. Xian’s sister.

Kai glanced at the boy, who was walking with nervous energy... It was already getting late so his eyes were darting between the streets and his companions.

He probably wanted to go ho by now.

Furthermore, the encounter with Humphrey had shaken him. It was already amazing that this kid remained stuck with them.

He wanted to see Xian’s sister, to check her condition, and perhaps... just perhaps, offer her hope.

"Let’s go," Kai said firmly. "We’ll visit your sister first."

Xian’s face lit up.

"Yes! This way!" he said eagerly, leading them through the quieter streets.

***

Just like that, Kai’s group followed Xian eastward, leaving behind the bustling districts of Caron City.

The streets grew narrower, and the place started being more polluted in a literal sense. The place was filled with smoke and rot.

Soon, they reached the slum quarter... a place hidden at the city’s edge, beyond the reach of the Twelve Factions. Here, the families had little interest in control.

It was where junk was dumped, trash burned or recycled, and where clean water was a luxury no one could afford.

The people here were skinny, their clothes ragged, and their faces streaked with dirt.

Yet despite the misery, they seed to be eager to live just like Xian...

In any case, Xian led them through winding alleys until they reached what he called ho.

Kai paused as he looked at it.

"This..."

It was hardly a house. It was just a collapsed wall propped up with tarps, enough to shield against rain and wind.

Inside, the space was cramped, forcing anyone taller than a child to bend low.

Only Kai entered fully. i and Farrah remained outside, peering in through the gaps.

Kai’s eyes then adjusted to the dim interior.

On a makeshift bed of old cloth lay a girl with blue hair similar to Xian.

She looked fragile, yet she managed a faint smile when she saw her brother.

"No way..."

Suddenly, Kai’s gaze froze on her left arm.

The skin had darkened, spreading from the shoulder down... It was already mottled and lifeless. It was like only a skin

He wasn’t a dical expert, but looking at it, he knew that it couldn’t stay like that.

’It must be amputated...’ he thought grimly.

If left unchecked, the corruption would consu her entire body.

He wasn’t sure what it was... infection, mutation, or sothing worse. But one thing was clear, she wouldn’t last long.

"W-what happened to her?"

i gasped softly from outside.

Farrah’s expression also changed as she was shocked... It must be really painful!

Even Xian’s voice trembled as he asked, "Sir Kai... can you cure her?"

Kai didn’t answer imdiately. He studied the girl carefully...

They weren’t physicians, and this wasn’t a problem that could be solved with ordinary dicine. Yet as he thought of the items in his inventory, possibilities began to form.

His eyes lit up.

"We might have a chance. But let’s have a physician check her out first..." Kai muttered.

But as he was about to call for one, he suddenly recalled his Status Crystal.

He might as well check the two of them before going.
