Boom!

The generator shook violently as the plasma blast hit. The walls crumbled, the steel cracked, and sparks flew in every direction.

Needless to say, cables snapped one after another, spraying arcs of electricity across the ground.

The previous sound of the generator was drowned out by explosions, replaced by the roar of fire and the screech of tearing tal.

Alarms blared instantly. Red lights flashed across the compound. Sentinels turned their heads in unison, optics glowing brighter as they detected the attack.

Soon, the Hounds moved with their detectors, locking onto the plasma emissions.

Now, it was a race against ti.

"Grenades!" Kai shouted.

Claire and Terrence pulled the pins and threw smoke grenades. Thick clouds spread quickly, covering the team’s position.

Althea and Sera then lit the fire traps they had prepared. Soon, the oil‑soaked debris burst into flas, sending black smoke into the air!

Just like that, more torches and grenades were thrown into chaos as alarms scread, fire spread, and smoke choked the area.

Of course, the Sentinels reacted imdiately.

So rushed toward the generator building, trying to save whatever they could, probably to repair it.

Others traced the source of the disturbance.

However, the Hounds were different. They charged through the smoke with their detectors sweeping for energy signals.

One Hound locked onto Wallace’s plasma rifle.

Its sensors noticed it, and it sprinted straight toward him!

They even heard its claws scraping the ground! So they knew that the Hound was close.

"Drop it!" Kai yelled.

Wallace amd Ralph didn’t hesitate. They threw the rifle into the burning debris. The weapon hissed as its energy signature was swallowed by the flas.

The Hound stopped, probably processing what had happened, then turned its sensors elsewhere.

"Move!" Kai ordered.

The team ran, moving through smoke and fire.

More smoke grenades exploded behind them.

Furthermore, with the sudden disruption of electricity, many devices in the compound stopped functioning, adding to the chaos.

Even if the Sentinels tried to follow, their optics were blinded by the smoke.

These low‑grade models didn’t have advanced sensors.

They were likely relying on image scanners, which could be blocked easily by smoke or cover.

Still, Kai’s lungs burned as he sprinted through the haze... It was not easy moving through the smoke as well!

Then, at this ti, the Sentinels began firing wildly with their own plasma rifles!

It was as if they had received instructions not to care about the base anymore, only to fire at will.

Bam! Bam!

Heat from the flas pressed against Kai’s skin.

Nonetheless, they had succeeded, and they were able to move away!

Kai looked back and confird that the generator was collapsing. Its walls crumbled, and explosions had definitely ripped through its core, as fire consud everything.

They had done it.

But survival was not certain.

The Hounds followed them through the chaos with detectors still sweeping desperately.

Kai signaled to Althea and Sera.

They threw more torches and smoke grenades, masking the team’s retreat.

However, it was not going to be easy.

Before they could reach the rocky terrain, Kai suddenly froze. His Level 3 Keen Senses allowed him to detect every sound and movent around him.

He heard the faint scrape of tal feet through the smoke! He noticed their movent, including the rhythm of weapons being raised!

"Enemies incoming!" Kai shouted.

He turned with his revolver already in hand. His eyes tracked the movent of the Sentinels through the haze.

They weren’t visible to anyone else yet, but his Gene Skill let him sense their approach.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

He fired rapidly, one shot after another, emptying the revolver in seconds. Sparks flew as bullets struck their armor and rifles, forcing the Sentinels in front to halt and adjust their positions.

Kai didn’t reload. He dropped the revolver and pulled out his semi‑automatic pistol. Without hesitation, he fired again, sweeping the weapon across the smoke‑covered shapes.

Each shot wasn’t ant to kill, it was ant to slow them down, to break their rhythm.

"Shoot in their direction!" Kai ordered.

Claire, Terrence, Althea, and Sera raised their revolvers and opened fire.

Bang! Bang!

A series of gunfire echoed through the compound as bullets cut through the smoke...

Of course, this action revealed their position. However, Kai had other plans.

"Continue firing!" Kai ordered.

The Hounds tried to lock onto the team, but the constant barrage disrupted them. Their sensors were vulnerable and could be hit easily!

Still, it was only a matter of ti before they moved again.

Kai’s senses picked up more movent. More Sentinels were closing in. He could feel the ground tremble under their steps.

"They’re coming in numbers!" Kai shouted.

He reached into his pack and pulled out the Signal Jamr he had obtained from the Enhanced Stealth Gift Pack.

The device was small and box‑shaped. Without hesitation, Kai slamd his thumb on the switch.

Whom~

A wave of disrupting frequency spread through the air.

The Sentinels’ optics seed to flash as their detectors failed!

The Hounds also froze for a mont as their sensors received errors!

"It worked!" Kai’s eyes lit up as the jamr disrupted their signals. For a brief mont, the machines lost coordination.

"Now! Move!" Kai yelled.

The team didn’t waste a second. They sprinted toward the escape path with smoke grenades protecting them from sight.

The fire traps roared higher, masking their retreat.

Soon, Kai’s Keen Senses told him the enemy was regrouping, but the disturbance gave them the gap they needed!

The group broke through the edge of the compound and dashed into the rocky terrain.

Just in ti, the Signal Jamr finally stopped working!

However, they already escaped!

After ten minutes of running, the group soon entered a sewer that they had previously marked.

"We can finally rest..." Wallace muttered as he felt breathless.

"Damn... The plasma rifles should be fixed or upgraded. The short range is just too dangerous," Ralph muttered, knowing how risky the mission had been. If the Plasma Rifle had a longer range, they wouldn’t have to gamble their lives like this.

Unfortunately, Victor was only a chanic, not an engineer specializing in advanced tech. There was a limit to how much he could repair on such devices.

"You can complain to him later, once we survive this," Kai muttered as they finally slowed when they reached cover.

But before they could rest, Claire shouted, "Get down!"
