While the Federation had yet to react and all their attention was focused on dealing with the Seed of Ouroboros, Ery could take advantage of the chaos to escape!
Along with the confidential docunts he had gathered from the Western region of the Federation over the years, and the stolen Seed of Ouroboros samples from the laboratory.
There was even...
A key to a giant-sized starship!
But at that mont, everything had gone beyond his expectations.
The Western District Federation suddenly appeared before him, like divine troops descending from the heavens.
They ran right into each other!
The Western District Federation was indeed troubleso!
Ery glanced at the federal team fighting the swarm in the distance, a vicious gleam flashing in his eyes.
Since that was the case, he would just force a fight!
Ery took a deep breath and focused his ntal control.
"Chi, chi chi chi..."
Behind Ery, the Seed of Ouroboros flesh cocoon polyr insect nest reacted to the ntal stimulation, writhing and twisting rapidly. Countless tiny larvae spread from its body and sward toward the Federation soldiers!
"Watch out! They’re coming!"
"Open fire! Suppress them!"
"The purple mist is toxic! Don’t take off your gas masks!"
The Federation soldiers imdiately used long-range firepower to suppress the incoming swarm.
"Retreat!"
The first wave of players entering the Black Fog World to investigate wasn’t the Federation’s main force; they were more focused on recon missions and had limited attack capability.
Now that they had confird the presence of the Seed of Ouroboros, there was no need to continue fighting. After the initial skirmish, the team began retreating.
anwhile, Augustine also noticed the insect nest among the swarm behind them.
And the figure standing before the nest.
Ery!
It really was him!
He had infiltrated the Western District Federation, stolen the Seed of Ouroboros cocoons and related data, and even managed to obtain the key to the starship the Federation had fought so hard to acquire recently.
He even planned to spread the Seed of Ouroboros into their world!
This guy was definitely insane!
The Federation forces continued suppressive fire while retreating, gradually withdrawing from the world through the Black Fog space passage.
Ery wasn’t aware of the Federation’s deploynts outside in the real world, so he didn’t dare charge out recklessly and stood in place, hesitating.
From his perspective, if the Federation had appeared here, it ant they had already confird his location.
They must’ve been setting up a periter all this ti without attacking directly.
Judging by the Western District Federation’s usual thods, they had surely completed multiple layers of lockdowns and only entered the Black Fog World to investigate once they were confident it was secure.
The current Seed of Ouroboros polyr was in Phase 2—though powerful, it was no match for the entire Western District Federation!
So...
There was only one option left.
Fully unlock the power of the Seed of Ouroboros!
A sinister glint flashed in Ery’s eyes.
You forced into this, Western District Federation!
"Ery, it seems we have already been discovered by the Federation."
Hearing the voice behind him, Ery turned around and looked at Fang Heng, who was walking out from the shadows.
Fang Heng asked, "What are you planning to do?"
"The re Federation is nothing to worry about. I will hand over the homologous fragnt to the Seed of Ouroboros for absorption, greatly enhancing the Seed of Ouroboros’ strength. However..." Ery paused, a trace of fear flashing in his eyes, "However, at that ti, the Seed of Ouroboros will also completely lose control."
Fang Heng stared coldly at Ery, as if looking at a fool.
"That’s why you’ve been holding it back from reaching Phase 3?"
Ery didn’t want to admit it and changed the subject, "It’s aningless to discuss that now. The Federation has found us and sealed off the exit. If I evolve the Seed of Ouroboros into the third stage, they won’t be able to stop it..."
Just as Ery was about to say more, his vision suddenly blurred. Fang Heng vanished in front of him.
What?
"Bang!"
A sharp pain exploded in Ery’s abdon. The world spun as he was slamd backward into a rock wall.
Pff!
Ery coughed up a mouthful of blood and glared at Fang Heng. He shouted, "What are you doing, Fang Heng?!"
Fang Heng walked toward Ery, seemingly relaxed, spreading his hands.
"I’ve always wanted to ask—who exactly are you? What’s your real objective?"
Ery stared at Fang Heng, clenched his jaw, and activated his ntal control over the queen bug.
The Seed of Ouroboros insect nest behind him swelled and contracted, emitting a reddish-purple glow and releasing clouds of purple mist. At the sa ti, it spawned waves of purple, wriggling swarm creatures that surged toward Fang Heng.
"Bang! Bang! Bang!!!"
All the approaching queen bugs exploded before they got within ten ters of Fang Heng!
"That’s it?"
Fang Heng smirked and grabbed Ery by the collar, lifting him off the ground.
Blood oozed from Ery’s facial orifices as he stared at Fang Heng in horror.
What was happening?
Why wasn’t Fang Heng affected by the Seed of Ouroboros’ ntal Suggestion?
Did he break free?
Suddenly, Ery seed to realize sothing terrifying and stared at Fang Heng. He stamred, "You... you didn’t..."
"I’ll give you one last chance. Tell who you are."
Ery no longer dared to stay hidden and hurriedly said, "I am an investigator of the Central Federation. I received orders a long ti ago to infiltrate the Western District Federation and gather various information related to the Western District Federation."
"Oh, I see. You work for the Central Federation."
"Yes, I’m with Central Federation. Do you think the Western District’s Star Map Project was developed by them alone? No—it was all orchestrated by the Central Federation."
Ery spilled everything without hesitation.
"The Central Federation wanted to use the spawns to counterbalance the strength of the Holy Court. But there were complications during execution. The Central Federation didn’t expect the Western District to secretly develop the power of the Seed of Ouroboros, or that they’d figure out a way to control it through the queen bug..."
"Queen bug? You’re using the queen bug to control the Seed of Ouroboros?"
"Yes, it’s a specially fused queen bug. Unfortunately, it can only control lower-level Seeds of Ouroboros, and even that control is limited. The experints are still ongoing. The Central Federation is desperate for this data. I’ve been trying to teleport the information out..."
Ery was bitter.
Originally, he could’ve continued quietly gathering intel for the Central Federation.
But then he ran into Fang Heng, this freak.
After their conflict during a ga mission involving the disappearance of a cocoon, the military brought the issue to the Federation council, and he underwent a full investigation.
Although he had nothing to do with the missing cocoon, his identity as a Central Federation secret agent was nearly exposed due to the probe.
These past few days, Ery couldn’t sleep. He replayed the events over and over, hundreds of tis, and still couldn’t understand how the cocoon vanished from the battlefield.
Because of that, Ery had been forced to take this desperate risk.
