Fang Heng quickly completed the construction with the holy gemstone.
In his view, the gemstone's material was special, and the outer magic array structure and patterns had never been seen before. It was highly likely a custom-made item for sealing and storing soul warrior spirits.
Moreover, this holy gemstone was made of lower-tier materials, and the attached magic array was of a low level. At most, it could store a little over ten low-tier soul warrior spirits.
It would do for now.
Fang Heng completed the storage of four soul warrior spirits. His right eye, the Eye of God, rotated rapidly as he began engraving a new alchemy magic array on the outer layer of the holy gemstone.
"Buzz..."
The holy gemstone blood with a purple glow.
Adam was surprised to see a layer of intricate runes appear on the floating holy gemstone. The density of the runes was several tis greater than the original.
After a few seconds, the rune engraving was complete. The purple light instantly retracted, and the holy gemstone floated back in front of Adam.
Adam instinctively reached out and took the gemstone.
Click!
The holy gemstone completely lost autonomous control and landed in Adam's palm.
"Hold it well, believer."
"Understood, Shadow God."
Adam nodded slightly with piety.
"Now, establish a spiritual connection with the holy gemstone."
Adam, without suspicion, quickly released his ntal strength and completed the spiritual construct with the gemstone in his hands.
Huh?
Adam imdiately felt sothing strange.
The spiritual link he ford with the holy gemstone was sowhat loose, yet at the sa ti, the ntal strength it consud was less than one percent of what it usually required—practically negligible.
Adam sensed that the holy gemstone was simultaneously bound to another terrifying ntal force besides himself.
"Your power is too weak, so I could only lend part of my strength to you. Now, you can try activating the soul warrior spirits within the gemstone, just like before."
"Alright."
Adam tried to activate the holy gemstone.
"Buzz..."
The holy gemstone emitted a faint glow.
The four soul warrior spirits were summoned.
Adam's heart leaped, and a look of wild joy imdiately appeared in his eyes.
Soul warrior spirits!
Under his conscious control, the four soul warrior spirits obeyed his commands, slowly moving to stand behind him.
He tested again.
When issuing commands to the soul warrior spirits, it was not as smooth as before; there was a slight sluggishness.
But it was not a problem.
After all, it had been freely given!
In real combat, most commands for the soul warrior spirits were simple—attack, defend, and other tactical orders—without requiring detailed feedback from the spirits.
"Thank you for your gift, Shadow God."
Adam carefully stored the holy gemstone.
Zane looked at Fang Heng with curiosity, pondering what small trick he had done with the gemstone.
Fang Heng shrugged.
Indeed, it was a minor trick.
He had probably set up a secondary interface on the outer layer of the holy gemstone to receive Adam's ntal strength.
In reality, he was the one truly binding the soul warrior spirits.
The downside was so waste of his ntal strength and a slight sluggishness in Adam's commands.
It was negligible.
With his current vast ntal strength, the consumption was trivial.
Fang Heng asked, "Tell , what is the academy's final assessnt?"
Adam's expression grew serious. He explained, "My Saint Academy uses a last-place elimination system. Each graduation period has a mid-rank assessnt. The top 50 students enter the seed class, receiving special treatnt from the temple. During breaks, they can further visit the temple for study and also enjoy tuition exemptions.
"If a student achieves an S-level rating in the final assessnt, they can directly intern at a church temple.
"Students in the bottom 5% are eliminated and lose student status, while those ranking in the bottom 5–30% repeat a year without any tuition discount and must pay full fees."
Zane and Fang Heng exchanged a glance.
Interning at a church temple!
The temple was where access to the Netherworld was truly controlled.
If Adam could get into the temple, he could find more information about the Netherworld and the God Clan.
"Interesting, Adam. I need you to achieve an S-level in this assessnt. Can you do it?"
Be first!
Of course!
It was what he had dread of achieving.
Hearing the voice in his mind, he felt a fire ignite in his chest. His throat went dry, and a strong battle will appeared in his eyes.
"I will! Shadow God, I will give my all!"
"Good." Fang Heng continued, "Rember what you said. Now, we need to get so money."
Adam was stunned.
Huh?
Get money?
Hadn't he just been aiming for first place? How could the topic switch so fast?
"Hehe, believer, don't forget, you still owe over a hundred thousand," Zane said, following Fang Heng, chuckling. "With daily interest, let's see... You owe quite a lot now."
"Ah?"
Adam felt a chill run down his spine.
...
Church district temple.
"Instructor John."
Adam displayed a slightly flattering expression and saluted Oracle John.
But unlike yesterday, he no longer grasped any awe for John.
"I want to take on missions related to the Netherworld."
"Missions? Adam, the Netherworld is dangerous. With your current abilities, repairing damaged stone tablets in low-risk areas is your limit," John glanced at him, shaking his head as he walked on. "You are not suited for higher-difficulty missions."
"I insist, instructor. Please give a chance," Adam pressed, taking a few steps to catch up. "I believe only in danger can I improve myself. Allow to undertake a Tier 1 mission in the Netherworld. I accept all consequences."
Adam was currently a trainee oracle and could only theoretically accept a small portion of church missions. John had never granted him full access for safety reasons.
John assessed Adam from head to toe, impatiently waved his hand, "Fine. Go to the registration desk. You will sign a waiver. If you encounter danger in the Netherworld during the mission, the temple will not send help."
"Thank you, instructor. I accept."
Adam exhaled, following John to the second-floor registration desk.
He contemplated that completing church missions was the fastest way to make money, a thod he had relied on to support his family.
Otherwise, his family could not have afforded his education at the academy.
After completing all procedures, Adam unlocked all missions available to a trainee oracle.
In the third-floor hall, he looked up at the recent mission descriptions on the bulletin board, glanced around cautiously, and dropped his voice, whispering, "Shadow God, are you here?"
