"Are you also interested in alchemy?"

Celia noticed the alchemy books Adam was referring and suddenly understood.

Could it be that he was minoring in alchemy?

That made sense.

Much of alchemy's knowledge was recorded in books, and it was indeed difficult to improve through practical experience alone.

However, in recent tis, with the existence of simplified goatskin scrolls, alchemy had almost been phased out.

"Yes, a little."

Adam looked up at Celia and asked, "Do you know the Alchemy Society?"

"Of course I do. Why? Do you want to join?"

Celia spoke naturally. "Maer is a senior in the fourth year. His alchemy group at the academy has been recruiting externally. If you want to join, I think he would welco you."

Adam asked curiously, "Maer?"

"Maer Jackalese. He is from the Jackalese family. mbership in the Alchemy Society is by recomndation, so joining through his introduction would be easier, but you first have to prove your skills."

Fang Heng and Zane exchanged a glance.

That lucky?

"Is he also part of the academy?"

"Yes, but Maer isn't easy to approach. He is only interested in alchemy magic arrays. At this hour, he is probably still tinkering with experints at the society. Do you want to take you there?"

"Could you do that?"

"Let's go. But I hope you can do a favor too."

"What favor?"

Celia looked at Adam, a trace of battle will flashing in her eyes. "I heard you are also preparing for the advancent to Tier 8 Oracle. I want to spar with you."

"No problem. You pick the ti."

...

Fang Heng learned from Celia that the academy managed its research groups very loosely; they were more like after-class study groups.

Celia led Fang Heng from the back of the academy to the east side, arriving at a new campus area.

Fang Heng looked up at the building and said, "A bit luxurious."

Celia likely read Adam's expression and explained, "The activity spaces for each research group are exchanged with academy points. The academy also rewards points based on the quality and contributions of the group's students."

"The alchemy research group doesn't have many mbers and hasn't contributed much to the academy, but Maer has money, and the Jackalese family funds the academy every year. Naturally, the academy won't make things difficult for Maer."

To Celia, alchemy was an auxiliary academic discipline that required talent, and its contribution to personal power growth was minimal.

As for earning money, that ca only at a later stage.

Alchemy was extrely expensive early on, far beyond what ordinary families could afford.

Entering the Alchemy Society building, a few students in the hall noticed Celia and imdiately beca alert, as if facing a formidable enemy.

Research groups in the academy often visited each other and sotis bet on competitions.

Celia's reputation preceded her; her combat strength ranked high in the academy.

Being challenged frequently, the students were tense.

Maer was wealthy and easily excitable, often agreeing to bets but rarely winning.

"Relax, I'm not here to challenge you," Celia said, seeing their nervous expressions. "Where's Maer?"

"Oh, Maer is in the laboratory, saying he's preparing for a..."

The students relaxed. One adjusted his thick glasses. "I'll go call him."

"Preparing?" Celia frowned. "Preparing for what? Another duel?"

"So elental students were talking badly behind our backs. The president heard and got angry, so he opposed them."

Celia was speechless.

Hearing bad talk by chance?

Surely not a setup?

"Who?"

Maer arrived in the hall and imdiately frowned, seeing Celia.

"Celia, what do you an? You really think our alchemy research group is easy to bully? I was careless last ti. This ti, do you dare limit your strength below Tier 3 and spar with again? I refuse to believe that alchemy can't be practical in combat."

Celia was sowhat helpless.

Maer was known as a spendthrift in the academy. He easily got carried away with anything related to alchemy.

Maer did have talent in alchemy, and his family environnt had cultivated him from a young age.

By freshman year, he had designed several alchemy magic arrays and had made a fortune selling blueprints.

But in combat...

Dueling?

A joke! Had Maer ever won?

"Next ti," Celia said, glancing at Adam. "Today there's sothing else. Let introduce him—this is Adam, an exchange student from Holy Eagle City."

Hmm? Not here to cause trouble?

Maer paused, then looked at Adam.

"I'm Adam. I'm very interested in alchemy. I heard you are a descendant of the Jackalese family and have expertise into alchemy, so I ca imdiately to see you. I also have so questions regarding soul warrior spirits, and if possible, I'd like to discuss them with you..."

"Academic exchange? Great!"

Maer's eyes lit up. "Co with to the back hall. We'll talk in detail."

"Ahem."

A short-haired female student coughed, interrupting Maer. "President, not so fast. How about a test first?"

Maer thought for a mont, looking embarrassed.

"Test? Right, right, a test. First, a test."

Maer, prone to getting carried away, had fallen into traps many tis before.

Many had co under the guise of alchemy exchanges to scam the research group, and Maer always welcod everyone.

Shen Qing asked, "Adam, may I ask, what level have you reached in alchemy?"

"Level? I'm not sure."

Huh? Not sure?

Maer paused, then realized that was correct.

Alchemy was a niche, and Holy Eagle City was a small town with limited inheritance of alchemy knowledge. Many didn't even know their academic level.

"Alright, co over and take the test."

Shen Qing guided Adam to the side, pointing to a magic array engraved on the wall. "This alchemy magic array is sowhat damaged. Tell us how you would repair it."

Fang Heng looked at the wall.

A large magic array was drawn there, with a significant portion intentionally blurred.

Adam had a minor in sealing arts, so he had so understanding of alchemy magic arrays.

However, this damaged array exceeded his skill level.

Seeing Adam hesitate, Maer said, "This alchemy magic array is difficult. Don't force it if it's hard to repair. Just give your thoughts, Adam."

"Alright."

Adam nodded slightly and stepped forward, placing his hand on the magic array.
