In the luxury suite of the Wansheng Grand Hotel, Wang Zhifan chatted with the wheelchair-bound youth Chen Ming for quite so ti, finding their conversation enjoyable.
Even though the anonymous bank card with 6 million Xia Country Currency had already been delivered into Wang Zhifan’s hands, he took a while before saying goodbye and leaving. Although he eventually declined Chen Ming’s invitation to dinner, they exchanged contact information.
Afterwards, Wang Zhifan returned to the 200-square-ter flat he had just rented, shut the door, and began his training. The reason he rented such a large space alone was to facilitate his cultivation and quickly increase his proficiency in the Great Dream Saber Scripture.
The training itself was rather dull, and Wang Zhifan practiced until late at night before finally shifting his focus to prepare for a good rest, welcoming the next day’s dungeon in peak condition.
But when he opened his newly purchased high-end phone, he found two people had already contacted him via his ssaging app: his old friend Chu Wei and his new friend Chen Ming.
"Both of them want to invite to team up for the dungeon? Hmm... I don’t really care whether I team up or not."
The team-up dungeon mode had always existed, but Wang Zhifan used to avoid teaming up with people he knew in real life to preserve his secrets, always letting the dungeon randomly assign teammates. Now, however, his strength was formidable enough to not worry about previous risks, so teaming up was certainly an option.
As such, Wang Zhifan didn’t dwell on it and quickly replied to both Chu Wei and Chen Ming, telling Chu Wei that he could team up with her the next day but might bring a low-level Priest friend, and giving Chen Ming similar information.
Soon after sending the ssages, Chu Wei replied, asking to know more about the Priest teammate since dungeon runs were life-and-death matters. She felt imnse weekly pressure and couldn’t afford to be careless.
To this, Wang Zhifan explained the situation to Chu Wei, letting her know the Priest teammate was a wheelchair-bound beginner who could perform Healing Skill and carried a handgun as a weapon but couldn’t be relied on much.
Chu Wei was surprised by Wang Zhifan’s decision to team up with such a novice, as it didn’t seem like a beneficial choice for either party.
The player community had learned through repeated dungeon experiences that high-level players teaming with low-level players didn’t noticeably decrease dungeon difficulty. This thod of high-level players helping low-level ones ended up being a disadvantage for both: the high-level player faced danger due to inadequate teammates, while the low-level player risked imdiate death.
Regarding this, Wang Zhifan reassured Chu Wei that he and Chen Ming had already worked together in a dungeon before with a fairly smooth process, and he was confident in leading a successful completion since he valued his own life too much to recklessly play the hero.
After this exchange, Chu Wei chose to trust Wang Zhifan, knowing him to be cautious and not one to boast baselessly. She had also witnessed his considerable skill when they had worked together previously.
Having settled the team-up with Chu Wei, Chen Ming readily agreed to join without needing much persuasion from Wang Zhifan. Despite being a wealthy heir, Chen Ming’s extrely low level and severe disability ant few players were willing to help him, as money was no trade for life, and only Wang Zhifan, the new influential friend he had made, wouldn’t mind these things.
Thus, the mbers for Wang Zhifan’s first team dungeon run were set. After playing on his phone and browsing player forums for a while, he felt so sleepiness and soon fell into a deep sleep in his newly rented spacious house.
The next morning, he woke up in the bedroom of his 200-square-ter flat and quickly washed up and changed clothes. He then contacted Chu Wei and Chen Ming by phone, eting an hour later in a private room at the Wansheng Grand Hotel, where they also took the opportunity to have breakfast.
This ti was different from when Wang Zhifan had co for a transaction the day before. Chen Ming had already been waiting in the hotel room. As a patient racing against ti with few days left, he was eager to enter dungeons daily to grow quickly. Chu Wei arrived almost simultaneously with Wang Zhifan, indicating her commitnt to the team-up given her furthest ho location.
"Hello, Chen, I’m Chu Wei."
"Hello, Miss Chu! I’m pleased to team up with you and Fan!"
While dining in the private room on their first eting, Chu Wei and Chen Ming nodded to each other in acknowledgnt.
"Ah Wei, you look a bit worn out. Has your workload been especially heavy these past few days?"
Wang Zhifan noticed Chu Wei’s tired appearance and queried her about it.
"No choice."
Chu Wei responded with a slightly wry smile on her delicate face,
"The new batch of team mbers hasn’t arrived yet, and there’s so much work piled up. Soone has to handle it all."
"Tsk tsk... Didn’t I suggest you take it easy? Ignoring advice will wear you out."
Wang Zhifan lightly criticized as he ate the sumptuous breakfast Chen Ming had arranged, having anticipated that Chu Wei would beco even more occupied once he stopped helping as a temporary assistant.
"Fan, it’s not that simple... Recently, Gray Realm outbreaks have been relentless. Even big nas like Mr. Li are working overti daily, so I certainly can’t slack off, but luckily things should improve soon with the arrival of new recruits."
Chu Wei showed a determined expression on her slightly weary face, revealing a sense of duty as an official of Xia Country.
"Player numbers have indeed surged recently, and Chen is one of them."
Wang Zhifan nodded slightly, knowing Chu Wei’s hopes weren’t unfounded, as the recent nationwide player policy by the Xia Country governnt had significantly paid off, and it was obvious that the bureau would soon be reinforced with new energy.
"By the way, Ah Wei, I forgot to ask last night, why did you suddenly want to team up with ? You’ve never seed interested before."
Wang Zhifan then voiced his curiosity about this issue.
"Because Captain He is on a business trip lately, leaving no one to lead ."
Chu Wei expressed so helplessness,
"Usually, having a captain lead subordinates in dungeons is an informal perk of joining the bureau, but Captain He has been so busy recently, disappearing for days, unable to guide a small mber like ."
The Captain He Chu Wei referred to was He Qianqian, who initially recruited her into the bureau. Wang Zhifan didn’t have a deep impression of her but thought she was likely a capable official player.
