The young man in a school uniform, wearing black-frad glasses, had just finished speaking when the other three fell silent, seemingly contemplating this perplexing question.
Seeing that no one was voicing an opinion, the young man in the school uniform continued:
"Let first share my thoughts... Based on the levels we all ntioned earlier, I estimate that the difficulty of this instance could reach level 30. A level 30 difficulty is quite challenging for us, so from a prudent perspective, I think we should form a team to undertake the mission first. At least four of us need to team up to complete a blood-letter mission, then decide according to the specific circumstances of the mission whether we need to continue teaming up. What do you all think?"
After the outgoing young man in the school uniform finished speaking, it took only a few seconds for the others, including Wang Zhifan, to express their own opinions.
"I support the idea of teaming up to complete a mission first to test the waters, thereby minimizing risk and not wasting too much ti."
Unexpectedly, Wang Zhifan was the first to support the young man’s suggestion.
"I also support it. Teaming up provides a greater sense of security."
The petite girl with a sweet appearance responded next.
"I don’t mind teaming up or not, but since you’re willing to team up, I’ll join."
The middle-aged man of average appearance and build pondered slightly before speaking last.
"Alright, let’s complete the first mission together. According to what that old man just said, the first mission should not appear until nine o’clock tomorrow morning. I noticed the clock on the wall on the first floor just now, and I estimate it’s still a little past three in the afternoon, so we have plenty of ti to prepare. I propose we split up to gather intel from those NPCs. What do you all think?"
Seeing that his first suggestion was passed so smoothly, the young man in the school uniform went on to propose his second suggestion, which he had ntioned when they first entered the apartnt.
But faced with this proposal, so team mbers were not too enthusiastic.
"If there’s sothing you want to know, just ask the building manager directly. I’m not good at striking up conversations with strangers..."
The petite, sweet-looking assassin girl was the first to express her unwillingness to cooperate.
"I feel like we already know quite a lot of information, asking too much more wouldn’t be very useful, and by the ti we start the mission tomorrow, everything will beco clear."
The middle-aged man of dium stature also expressed that he didn’t want to put in the effort but was more willing to do sothing else:
"I seem to not have eaten enough before entering the instance today, so I’ll go down to the first floor to grab sothing to eat. If you need , you can find there."
With that, the middle-aged man was the first to leave room number 403, getting up as Wang Zhifan stood to give him space.
As Wang Zhifan got up to make way for the middle-aged man, he replied to the young man in the school uniform:
"Gathering more information is always good. How about this: you inquire with the residents in the first-floor lobby, and I’ll ask around upstairs."
Seeing Wang Zhifan, who hadn’t left the best impression on him before, being so cooperative, the young man imdiately nodded and replied:
"Alright, I’ll handle downstairs and you’ll handle upstairs. We’ll gather as much intel as possible and then compare it to see if there are any contradictions. Otherwise, it would be bad if we were tricked by the old man’s words."
Having agreed with Wang Zhifan, the young man in the blue and white school uniform dashed downstairs to take action, while Wang Zhifan and the petite girl also left his room 403, one starting to knock on the doors of room 401 on this floor while the other quickly returned to her room 404.
At this mont, Wang Zhifan walked to the far west end of the apartnt’s fourth-floor hallway and stood at the door of room 401. He reached out and knocked on the door, and soon heard soft footsteps from inside the room.
"It’s you? Is there sothing you need?"
Then, in the half-opened door, Wang Zhifan saw the figure of a tall young woman in a light-colored dress. She was evidently the sa person he had asked about moving in when he first entered the apartnt; she also recognized him, showing a hint of surprise in her expression but also a trace of impatience.
"I apologize for bothering you again, madam."
Wang Zhifan hadn’t expected to et a familiar face on his first knock and went on to explain:
"If it’s convenient for you, I’d like to ask about the blood-letter mission. As you can see, I’m a new resident in this apartnt and don’t understand a lot..."
"You’ve got the wrong person."
Before Wang Zhifan could finish speaking, the tall young woman in the light dress interrupted him:
"I’m also a new resident and haven’t participated in any such mission. If you want to ask veteran residents, it’s best to go downstairs, but as far as I know, those people aren’t very forthcoming."
With that, without waiting for Wang Zhifan to respond, she closed the door, clearly unwilling to engage further.
Left outside, Wang Zhifan touched his face and sighed to himself:
"Seems like my face disguised as a Tree-man Mask is too ugly. Next ti, I should shape it to be more handso. Even if it’s half as handso as my real face, it wouldn’t lead to this result."
Having lanted how his first disguise had backfired, Wang Zhifan continued with his intel-gathering mission.
He didn’t mind one or two failed attempts at communication and persistently knocked on other doors on the fourth floor, and then proceeded to the fifth and sixth floors.
Through these visits, he realized that many residents were less cooperative than the tall woman, who at least opened the door to exchange a few words with him. Most residents didn’t even open their doors and so even yelled at him from inside.
Only a few talkative people engaged in brief conversations with him, but they were primarily new residents who couldn’t provide the information he sought. The only person who claid to have mission experience was unwilling to discuss the specifics, only stating that the mories were too horrifying to recall.
However, Wang Zhifan’s efforts were not entirely fruitless, as he confird at least one thing: there were many residents in this apartnt.
Each of the floors he visited had 20 rooms, and it was rare to encounter a truly vacant one. With his extraordinary perception, he could easily determine whether a room was occupied. Even if the room was empty, he could sense evidence of living to ascertain if it was temporarily unoccupied or if the resident simply wasn’t ho.
"The number of residents in this apartnt is definitely over a hundred, possibly two hundred, and at least a quarter of them are new residents."
After scouting for a while, Wang Zhifan was about to head to the first floor to et up with the young man in the school uniform when he stood in the sixth-floor hallway and noticed a black bus coming from the end of the street outside the apartnt. The bus number was 444.
