Ti passed slowly, and in the blink of an eye, half a month had gone by.
During this half month, Wang Zhifan lived a peaceful life of cultivation, occasionally going out to et with acquaintances to gather the latest information.
The Duke had also sent people to invite him to join the elite professional group to deal with the threat of the Demon King, but he politely declined, citing his preference for solo action.
In this dungeon world, there had been almost no anomalies during this period, yet the real threat had suddenly arrived in so corner.
On this day, on a vast sea, a gigantic whirlpool suddenly appeared on the undulating waves, with spatial lines exuding an ultimate aura of darkness at the center, as if an ancient cage had been damaged.
Boom~ Boom~ Boom!
Three dull, teeth-clenching sounds imdiately followed in succession, not sounds of any physical collision but reactions arising from pure power confrontation.
As more dark lines erged at the center of the giant whirlpool on the sea surface, a pair of hands covered in pitch-black scales and with sharp claws extended out violently, tearing apart the forces binding it, and the figure of their owner erged.
What a terrifying existence it was, with a body as huge as a small mountain, having a basic humanoid form but entirely different from humans. Its body was covered with black scales, and densely packed spines grew on the back of its neck and back. Its hands and feet were as huge and sharp as those of the fiercest beasts. Its visage was so vicious it could stop a child from crying, resembling a demon crawling out of hell, with long, massive curved horns amplifying its terrifying image to the extre.
Without a doubt, this was a truly powerful demon, and from the way it appeared, one could deduce it was the very Demon King the players had been waiting for!
"Two thousand years... a full two thousand years..."
Out of the cage, the Demon King spread his rough arms wide, rotating his fierce head adorned with a pair of giant horns, overlooking the vast sea.
The sea surface was not much different from when he had not appeared, still showing relatively calm waves, but on closer inspection, it was clear that the water was becoming tainted with a corrupt aura at the center of his ergence, as if infected by rot.
"What a discomforting world... I must utterly transform it! Starting with eradicating all sinful humans!"
The sight seed to displease the newly escaped Demon King, and he swiftly confird his mission.
At this mont, a sea vessel carrying hundreds of passengers passed by nearby waters. The ship was several thousand ters away from the Demon King, so it did not imdiately realize such a terrifying presence had erged, mistaking it for a large black reef.
But in the next instant, a crimson light beam struck the vessel, and instantly the entire ship began rusting and decaying. In the blink of an eye, all the passengers and sailors perished collectively, transford into mindless evil creatures!
"Servants! Heed my command! Destroy all sinful beings! Annihilate all inferior creations!"
The Demon King, having quickly gained so followers, issued an order, carrying a sense of genuine joy.
Yet as the now ghost ship departed following the command, the Demon King turned to look at another spot on the sea, where an invisible portal appeared out of thin air, from which a phantasmal figure resembling the Demon King erged.
"Is it you? I thought those humans would co here to die instead."
The Demon King seed to recognize the newcor and knew it was not an enemy, at least not yet.
"Morphis, I have finally waited for you to erge."
The newcor quickly flew to the side of the Demon King and stopped, its body illusory, clearly not its real form, so it showed no fear of the Demon King, a being with much stronger presence.
"Why have you co? Don’t delude yourself into thinking I will yield this world to you! Not even a part of it!"
The Demon King looked at the entity approaching, voice threatening, with his huge sharp hands slightly brushing, poised to shred this apparition at any mont.
"No! Morphis, I ca only to aid you! Have you forgotten how you failed two thousand years ago!"
The apparition raised its voice in response, causing the Demon King’s ferocious, crimson eyes to flicker.
"I indeed failed... but failure is in the past, this ti I will completely conquer this world! I don’t need any help!"
The Demon King raised his massive, terrifying hands, displaying fighting spirit and confidence.
"Stop the pretense! Morphis! Admit it! You’re weaker now than two thousand years ago! For you only have one chance left!"
The apparition directly exposed the Demon King’s facade, striking at its inner weakness.
"How... do you know this..."
Upon hearing this, the Demon King’s crimson eyes fixated on the apparition that had revealed his secret, carrying a hint of shock.
What the other referred to as having only one chance actually ant that in this world, he had lost the ability to resurrect infinitely, no longer able to act as he pleased, for the source of this power, the Undying Demon Dragon, had unexpectedly fallen, and he, bound by a contract with the Undying Demon Dragon, was acutely aware of this but hadn’t expected this outsider to know too.
"Heh... Morphis, your contract with that old dragon in the dungeon, don’t think I am unaware. I am an expert in contracts, after all."
