In the lower passage of the Black Tower, as the buzz-cut, sunglasses-wearing gunslinger player from Xia Country reached the vicinity of the brass door exit, preparing to escape this bizarre place, he suddenly found outside a scene resembling a smoke-filled Purgatory, with continuous terrifying rumblings, causing his expression to turn bewildered as he quickly retreated from the doorway.
"What the hell is happening outside..."
For a mont, he couldn’t determine what was going on, but one thing he knew for sure was that he definitely couldn’t leave the tower anyti soon, because it’s obvious to anyone that whoever dares to go out now will be instantaneously killed by the external environnt.
"Damn it! Is this tower intentionally stopping from leaving? Yin Realm’s hearse is such garbage! It led to this crappy place!"
Feeling frustrated, the player began to curse, mainly because he had nothing to do besides climbing the tower or resting, and since he had basically lost trust in this tower, he was now stuck at the doorway, feeling stifled.
As for the battle with the indigenous people he participated in along with four other players not long ago, it was supposed to be an enjoyable event to release his true nature. However, once the indigenous people retreated, he was forcibly dragged back to his tower-climbing space, leading to the current situation.
"I have to find a way to investigate the situation outside. Perhaps everything out there is just an illusion to deceive ."
Standing inside the door, contemplating, this skilled gunslinger player decided to check it out practically. Of course, he wouldn’t take the risk of using his own body; he would use an item instead.
He rummaged through his personal space on the spot. Being a high-level player, he had cleared countless instances, and his personal space was filled with a variety of items, though truly valuable things were not many.
In a few seconds, a plain white paper doll appeared in his hand, looking like an ordinary item used for mourning the deceased. But then he took out a pencil and drew two black dots on the paper doll’s head as eyes.
When he finished, in an instant, the paper doll seed to co to life, jumping down from his palm and quickly running along the passage floor out the brass door into the fiery and terrifying scene outside, then disappeared without a trace.
"Huh? The paper doll seems fine? So it really is an illusion... No! I’ve lost the spiritual connection with the paper doll!"
Using the paper doll, this gunslinger player obtained results within rely two seconds, but the results were not as he expected: the paper doll was out of contact, and he hadn’t found out anything.
"Damn it! Isn’t this door open? How can it still disrupt my spiritual connection with the paper doll! But... I guess that’s just normal? Otherwise, the explosions outside would have already affected the inside..."
Having faced failure, he quickly understood the reason behind it, but he thought about it and chose not to give up on investigating. Instead, he took out two more white paper dolls from his personal space.

Two seconds later, the dispatched paper doll had vanished into the external environnt, and the paper doll left in his hand imdiately reacted, almost instantly collapsing in his palm, as if it had reverted from a "living creature" back to a dead object.
At this point, the gunslinger player who had completed the investigation finally changed his expression, muttering:
"It appears sothing really happened outside... If it were just losing the spiritual connection, this paper doll wouldn’t suddenly lose its spirituality..."
He now realized that the scene outside was definitely not an illusion created by the Black Tower to scare him; it was extrely dangerous, just as it appeared, instantly killing the paper doll he created.
Helplessly, he stood inside the brass door and observed the outside for a little longer, feeling that the external situation wouldn’t change anyti soon, so he had no choice but to retrace his steps and return to his tower-climbing floor to rest.
Similar scenes actually didn’t only play out with this player. Many other surviving players encountered similar situations, wanting to escape this maddening Black Tower, only to find the outside situation had drastically changed, forcing them to stay inside.
Instead, those indigenous people who entered the tower for the first ti, being unfamiliar with the Black Tower, after investigating the inside of the tower and preparing to leave, found the outside scene extrely terrifying. But standing at the doorway, they were unhard, and so felt curious enough to poke their heads out, only to be instantly killed by the environntal hazards, resulting in so casualties.
Wang Zhifan, as the master of the Black Tower, naturally understood all these situations very well, but he didn’t care at all. He simply activated the Black Tower’s automatic protection without forcibly closing the exit. Whoever wants to go out and die is their own business; he wouldn’t interfere.
Currently, so of his attention was placed on a powerful indigenous person nad Zhong Wei, secretly observing him and the activities of five other ordinary indigenous people, but so far, he hadn’t discovered anything too unusual.
