Half a day passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was around five o’clock in the afternoon.
In the Shadow Desert, the fierce bombing with the Black Tower as the core target had already stopped for several hours, but the continuous nuclear strikes before had completely changed the terrain here.
The original desert flatland around the Black Tower had completely transford in appearance; the fine sand had all turned into a glass-like substance, resembling a glass bowl trapped in the vast desert, and at the bottom of the bowl was the pitch-black tower, unscathed.
"The outside environnt is still very harsh, you guys stay here first. After the tower master and I have finished off those two old n, I’ll arrange for soone to co and assist you. If you encounter others, convey the ssage to them as well."
At this mont, in the passageway at the base of the Black Tower, the S-class superhuman, Zhong Wei, wearing a bloodstained white coat, solemnly instructed the five subordinates in front of him.
Beside him, Wang Zhifan’s hat-and-knife avatar appeared as well. Without a doubt, they were ready to set off for revenge.
"Alright, boss, you and the tower master must be careful!"
The short and stout middle-aged man among the five didn’t say much upon seeing the situation.
He understood that the gap in power between themselves and the two big shots in front of them was too large, and recklessly following them would only hold them back. It’s better to stay in the tower to protect themselves and help gather other superhumans who haven’t left the tower.
"Hmm... Then tower master, let’s set off!"
Having finished instructing his subordinates, Zhong Wei turned to the mysterious figure waiting beside him and announced the official departure.
It could be seen that after resting for most of the day, he had recovered to almost the sa state as when he first arrived at the Black Tower. Except for the clothes still in battle-damaged condition, his spirit and superhuman strength were incomparable to when he was injured, with his combat power reaching at least ninety percent of its peak.
"Alright, you lead the way."
Wang Zhifan controlled the avatar to respond, quickly following Zhong Wei out of the brass door, reaching the tower exteriors filled with extre conditions like high temperatures and radiation.
If an ordinary person appeared in such an environnt without wearing special protection, there’s no doubt they would die instantly.
But Zhong Wei is not an ordinary person. His S-class superhuman nature and specialization in defensive talization abilities allow him to withstand extrely harsh external conditions.
As for Wang Zhifan, it goes without saying. He dispatched a Dream Avatar, which isn’t a flesh body; the outside environnt is exceedingly limited in its impact.
After the two left the tower, they imdiately shot upwards, soaring into the sky.
Zhong Wei relied on his Gravity Superpower to lead the way, while Wang Zhifan controlled the avatar to perform the Wind and Thunder Heaven-Treading Skill, following along. Thanks to the avatar’s characteristics, it could move exceedingly fast with minimal energy consumption, putting even Zhong Wei under pressure.
The two headed north and in less than three minutes, Zhong Wei suddenly turned his head slightly to sound a warning:
"Tower master, there are missiles coming again, and there are two of them."
He said, turning his head to look north, the direction from which the attack was coming.
"The first wave is yours. We’ll take turns for the rest."
Wang Zhifan responded indifferently through the avatar, as if being locked onto by missiles was no big deal, sothing that could be easily solved.
"Alright, I hope those two old geezers stop wasting the organization’s resources."
Zhong Wei had no doubt that this mysterious and powerful friend could handle the missile attack. The willingness to leave the tower and charge directly represented many anings.
Two seconds later, the long-range attack arrived as expected, with two ultra-high-speed missiles coming from the exact north direction and northeast direction. Traveling at over ten Mach speed, they couldn’t be caught by the naked eye, and in an instant, were close enough to the target to detonate, capable of wiping out a large area of sturdy structures.
Yet Zhong Wei wasn’t a rigid structure; he possessed extrely powerful Gravity Superpower, instantly altering the missiles’ gravity and amplifying it imnsely, causing them to veer hundreds of ters away from Zhong Wei and Wang Zhifan, uncontrollably plumting into the desert below, forming two overlapping distorted mushroom clouds.
"This power... doesn’t seem as big as those aid at the Black Tower."
Wang Zhifan observed through the avatar that the missiles sent by the enemy had reduced ammunition load, probably because they thought it wasn’t necessary to have too much power for hitting two people, although sending two missiles was a bit puzzling.
And yet, sothing even more exasperating occurred seconds later—they both sensed another wave of missiles coming from afar, again two, each locking onto one of them.
"I’ll handle these two."
Although he had a bit of an idea about what the enemy was up to, Wang Zhifan had no choice but to respond, though compared to the violent approaches of Zhong Wei, his thod seed much milder, at least outwardly.
Two seconds later, from Zhong Wei’s perspective, he saw the two missiles shooting from the horizon suddenly lose their fire, the tail flas completely disappearing, and then, due to trendous inertia, they slamd obliquely into the vast desert, stirring up large clouds of dust.
They were like two giant salamis from the sky, crash-landing on the ground with no follow-up, not producing the expected explosion, or even a small fla.
"Tower master, is this... ice abilities?"
Flying in the air, Zhong Wei’s expression changed slightly in surprise. His eyesight and perception are quite sharp, imdiately discerning what had happened to those two missiles, causing them to suddenly beco useless duds.
