Wang Zhifan observed that Ya City was completely different from the barren and harsh Shadow Desert, displaying all the features of a high-tech tropolis. The streets were bustling with various vehicles and pedestrians, and a few flying crafts occasionally zipped between the towering buildings, looking anything but connected to a wasteland setting.
But Zhong Wei, upon hearing this, shook his head, indicating that Wang Zhifan was being overly optimistic about this place, which was not as stable as it seed.
"Master, Ya City isn’t as great as it looks. Most of the people you see on the streets are actually lifeti employees cultivated by corporations using biochemical thods. They may look glamorous but they lack personal wealth and freedom, and the entire city is divided and controlled by large organizations, often facing conflicts. Our Lifeline Base, though not a small force scattered globally, develops very slowly here due to strong opponents..."
After a brief understanding, Wang Zhifan and Zhong Wei quietly moved toward their target location relying on the Holy Grail’s positioning. They knew that the two old n had arrived in Ya City yesterday evening and didn’t head to the Lifeline Base but stayed in another organization’s territory, openly seeking protection.
However, Wang Zhifan and Zhong Wei didn’t take this into much consideration. On one hand, they were eager for revenge and willing to pay so price for it, and on the other hand, they were truly powerful, able to manage potential troubles even on others’ turf.
About half an hour later, with the sun ready to rise from the horizon, they finally sneaked up to the enemy’s position, specifically near a luxurious restaurant nad "Heavenly". The two enemies were currently on the twelfth floor of the restaurant.
"Master, if we get any closer, even if we’re cautious, they might sense us. This is a major company’s territory, so it’s best to charge in swiftly, kill them, and leave at once to avoid a lot of trouble."
The duo was certain that their two enemies didn’t know yet about their arrival, so they planned a rapid decapitation operation. There was no chance they’d let local concerns stop them.
"Hold on, let see if I can just finish them off instantly."
Wang Zhifan imdiately responded, controlling his avatar, although his true self was still in the distant black tower of Shadow Desert, his proficiency in the Great Dream Saber Scripture already let him control the avatar across thousands of miles with no information delay because of ntal links.
"Ice Source Power!"
Knowing the enemy’s location, he used the avatar as a node to project freezing power through the Demon Scroll, aiming to directly freeze the enemies near his avatar. But the next instant, he realized sothing was wrong.
"Not good! They can actually resist most of the power I unleashed! You’ll have to act personally! But please be careful!"
After testing once, Wang Zhifan imdiately inford Zhong Wei of the situation. He found his usually unstoppable Ice Source Power hadn’t had the expected effect, which was quite odd, indicating that these two enemies wouldn’t be easy.
"Let try it!"
Zhong Wei, also slightly surprised, confidently shot toward the nearby high buildings under his Gravity Superpower, with Wang Zhifan following.
At the sa ti, on the twelfth floor of Heavenly Restaurant, the silver-haired old man in robot form was covered with a layer of frost, which didn’t hinder his movent. Also, strange sounds emitted from him, while the hooked-nose middle-aged man appeared half-frozen like in an ice cellar, displaying a fearful state with multiple cracks across his chest. Both looked rather tense.
"There was an ice-related power attack on us just now! Those two guys really ca after us! Is the person you called not here yet?"
At this mont, the hooked-nose middle-aged man urged the silver-haired old man, as if the arrival was their hope of survival.
"He said he’ll be here shortly; he asked us for such a big favor and surely will keep his word..."
The silver-haired old man replied while looking out the window, and then just happened to see a figure in a white coat fly up to their floor window, flashing them a "friendly" smile.
"It’s Zhong Wei!"
Upon seeing this, both felt their hearts sink, yet strangely, they didn’t imdiately flee and stayed inside the restaurant.
"Old things! I’ll crush you into at patties right now!"
Sporting a dangerous smile, Zhong Wei saw them and wasted no words, directly using his superpowers to eliminate these forr acquaintances.
He knew these two were strong against many superpowered individuals, but facing him, an S-class, wouldn’t last long, as he was stronger.
However, in the next instant, his expression changed. He suddenly discovered that his activated power, although forcing the silver-haired old man and hooked-nose middle-aged man to bend their legs almost to kneeling, was still far from the result he desired — crushing them into pulp.
"What’s happening? Did I use my powers too lightly? But I’m clearly outputting massively..."
Zhong Wei felt intense doubts at this mont, puzzled why his powers suddenly weakened so significantly compared to before.
Astonished, he raised his hand to unleash a Gravity Wave, instantly shattering the glass window in front, but the powerful wave weakened upon hitting the two, as if a weakening barrier surrounded their bodies.
"Zhong Wei! Stop it! You can’t handle us now! Once our allies arrive, you’ll definitely lose! If you’re willing to reconcile, we can still cooperate for mutual benefit like before!"
Sounding like a robot, the silver-haired old man shouted, trying to dissuade Zhong Wei from his murderous intent.
What they didn’t understand was that even if Zhong Wei didn’t want to kill them, Wang Zhifan wouldn’t give up behind him.
"Die!"
Without waiting for an answer, Wang Zhifan controlled his avatar to slash, sending a sharp blade light through the broken window against the two enemies, leaving a shallow blood mark on their bodies.
"Even my saber technique’s power can be reduced?"
Such a result was vastly different from Wang Zhifan’s expectation of a clean slice, and he was genuinely surprised by these locals’ thods, his gaze probing their bodies, realizing they must have employed extraordinarily remarkable defenses.
But Zhong Wei, seemingly more knowledgeable, observed two seconds then spoke in a shocked tone:
"You’ve figured out how to nullify superpowers? No, you finally found soone with this kind of power! And killed them to transplant onto yourselves! Just to counter my superpowered team, you really worked hard... I guess this is the so-called trump card, your unfinished trump card..."
Zhong Wei’s speech grew angrier, confird that these two old n aid to target him long ago, with a specifically tailored plan, though not yet perfected, only possessing decent defensive capabilities but unable to fully invalidate his powers.
"So that’s how it is... Then how would you fare if I don’t use powers, but simply give you a slice?"
Upon hearing this, Wang Zhifan controlled his avatar to raise his saber, preparing to charge at the two enemies, yet they didn’t dodge and even dared to threaten:
"If you kill us, the automatic program we set up will launch all the nuclear missiles at this city! And broadcast your cris! By then, the powerful forces of the entire Ya City will be hunting you down! You’ll spend the rest of your life in terror, always a fugitive!"
At this mont, the two old n’s life-saving plan erged. They indeed planned to rely on others to suppress the two strong beings before them, but chose to drag others into the water, which was incredibly peculiar.
