"Aweso, no wonder he’s a big shot."
"If it were , I wouldn’t dare to drink either."
"Did you guys check the trading area? Brother Lin posted a batch of first-grade biological corpse chunks, only 10 red coins each."
"Looks like the big shot made a good haul this ti."
"Speaking of which, didn’t the big shot give out so spiritual energy items before? How did they work?"
"I can sum it up in two words: freaking amazing! If it weren’t for those spiritual energy items from the big shot, I wouldn’t have made it back this ti!"
"Tell us the details."
"I was ambushed by so dog bastard—probably a Blue Star native. He threw a grenade at my hiding spot, and I was startled. Instinctively, I used the big shot’s protective item, and I was completely unhard. The attacker thought I was dead and didn’t co to check. After a very complicated ga of cat and mouse, I ended up killing him six tis over."
"So it was the old scher."
"Damn! You can even block grenades?!"
"Bro, that’s spiritual energy shielding. Regular gunpowder weapons can’t even pierce it. The stuff the big shot gave us is top-tier."
"Missed out last ti. Big shot, can you send out another batch?"
"Forget sending, I’d even pay to buy so!"
"Haha, I snagged a first-grade corpse chunk!"
"That stuff’s useless, right? It’s not a mutation organ. You’re not seriously going to eat it?"
"It can be used as pet food and fertilizer, plus so equipnt requires mutation flesh with ample spiritual energy. At just 10 red coins, grabbing it is a steal."
"Huh? I thought it was useless and didn’t bother to grab any just now…"
"Idiot, you think sothing from Brother Lin would be worthless? You’re bound to profit."
"I got one and sold it for 20 red coins."
"Damn! They’re all gone already!"
…
After breakfast, Lin Ye handed the shelter over to the owl to manage and lay back on his bed to start the daily simulation.
…
[D-Class personnel simulated: Zed]
[Remaining simulation attempts: 10]
Lin Ye woke up from the soft bed, noticing a black formal suit placed beside it.
“Oh? Could it be that my treatnt has improved?”
He recalled the first title he earned and thought optimistically.
However, before he could rejoice too long, a fully ard overseer barged in without any courtesy and said,
“Put on your clothes. It’s ti to hit the road.”
Lin Ye did not resist. Although he could now easily handle ordinary overseers, considering his mission was to resolve abnormal events, coupled with a powerful captain and an unknown organization, he could forgive their rudeness.
Dressed, Lin Ye followed the overseer downstairs. Zed was thin but surprisingly strong. Though not comparable to Lin Ye’s current physique, he was much stronger than the old guy from last ti.
They gathered in the hotel lobby. It was the familiar four-person overseer squad. The captain was a scruffy middle-aged man, accompanied by a woman and a child.
Following the captain out of the hotel, Lin Ye saw the port right outside. A gigantic cruise ship was entering, towering dozens of ters high. From the side, the hull was covered with countless windows.
“The cruise ship will leave the port in one hour. You must retrieve a black briefcase from Room 1904 and place another identical black briefcase there before disembarking in ti.”
“Of course, you may also choose to leave with the cruise ship. I’m quite eager to see if you’ll make that choice.”
The captain gave a malicious grin.
“Anything we should pay attention to? Why three people? Does the child have to go?”
Lin Ye asked directly.
The captain glanced at Lin Ye and replied,
“You don’t have boat tickets, so you must disguise yourselves as a family of three to board the ship and get off before the crew inspects tickets. That brat who looks like a kid must co aboard. As for precautions, maybe you can tell after you co back—assuming you survive.”
Though the captain didn’t favor them much, he answered all mission-related questions.
Lin Ye took the black briefcase handed to him by the overseer and walked toward the cruise ship with his two companions.
The two companions showed no intention to speak, so Lin Ye naturally remained silent. This was probably how D-Class personnel interacted.
Only when he saw the woman trembling did Lin Ye realize they were too scared to talk.
He couldn’t understand what was supporting them to keep moving forward.
They boarded via the gangway without security checks or staff. The three walked on an empty deck; the entire cruise ship was eerily silent.
Lin Ye led silently at the front, deliberately lowering his footsteps to avoid any noise that might cause trouble.
This simulation was not difficult for him. Just find Room 1904, swap the briefcases, and bring the case back to finish.
Compared to previous simulation missions, at least this one had a clear goal.
The three entered the ship’s cabin. The hallway was narrow, lit by dim yellow lights, with orderly rooms on both sides.
Suddenly, Lin Ye sharply turned his head, only to find the two companions behind him had vanished.
‘That’s it? Luckily, the briefcase is still in my hands.’
He didn’t try to find them because, in so ways, it was he who had disappeared.
Each door was engraved with a room number. Lin Ye checked one by one but noticed the rooms were not arranged in nurical order.
967, 1670, 876, 1453, 1964, 797, 470…
‘This is troubleso. I can’t check every single room.’
At the end of the corridor, there was no passage to other areas, only Room 1346.
‘No way.’
Lin Ye turned and ran back toward the entrance. The hallway he ca through was gone, replaced by another room, Room 407.
‘What kind of puzzle ga is this?’
He recalled the previous room numbers, trying to find a pattern, but quickly gave up. His math was decent but only at a high school level, and these numbers might not even be related to math.
‘I can only try opening doors. Even if I open the wrong one and face danger, I still have ten simulation attempts.’
‘But what if opening the wrong door ans death? Ten attempts only an opening ten doors. Can I really just try randomly?’
‘Maybe I should wait an hour and see if the cruise ship changes while sailing.’
After thinking for a while, Lin Ye decided to try opening a door first. If it was too dangerous, he would wait until the ship left port before acting.
‘So which door to pick?’
There were 32 doors in this corridor. In the end, Lin Ye chose Room 1346 at the corridor’s end.
