Lin Ye: Huh?

The compartnt stayed silent, nobody answering Lin Ye's question.

While Lin Ye kept spamming the chat group, the train arrived at the first station.
Like last ti, Lin Ye couldn't see outside, only the station's interior walls plastered with movie poster-like station introductions:
"A terrifying disaster approaches, the entire city faces destruction, weak citizens will beco prey - but redemption remains possible. Can you fulfill your duty, turn the tide, and prevent the catastrophe?"
Below the text depicted a night-shrouded city, with a faceless man standing outside, about to enter.
Lin Ye left his compartnt. The corridor remained empty of other passengers - perhaps they were in different compartnts.
This ti, he needed no discussions - he could disembark at whichever station he chose.
Passing through the light green exit gate, Lin Ye lost consciousness.

Three optional missions popped up in chat as Lin Ye awoke in the backseat of a moving vehicle.
Not a prisoner transport.
But a black luxury sports car, its interior pulsing with spiritual energy.
The driver was a uniford young woman, barely 20, nervously stealing glances through the rearview mirror.
Beside Lin Ye sat another uniford woman around 30, with striking proportions and a holstered pistol.
"The higher-ups said you'd arrive tomorrow - we weren't prepared for your early arrival, Director..."
Grace studied the absurdly young director beside her, her heart heavy with thoughts of their troubleso caseload.
"My early arrival has its reasons. Did you bring the files?"
Lin Ye asked calmly.
"Everything's here - all recent cases... including the previous director's."
Grace sounded mournful. She'd started under the old director - a respected elder nearing retirent who'd died violently in their own precinct.
Lin Ye rapidly flipped through the dictionary-thick case files, morizing every crucial detail.
Though skeptical of his reading speed, Grace remained silent. As the director's assistant, she knew when to speak and when to observe.
"Grace, does anyone else know I'm here?"
After finishing, Lin Ye set down the files.
"Just and Officer Nora."
Nora was their driver.
"Grace, can I trust you both?"
Lin Ye locked eyes with her.
"Absolutely, Director."
Grace answered earnestly.
"Good. Keep my presence secret. First, take to the armory. Then you'll hold down the precinct while I need a city-knowledgeable driver."
Lin Ye spoke decisively.
"Reporting - I grew up here! Know every street!"
Nora blurted eagerly from the driver's seat.
"Excellent. You'll pull an all-nighter tonight, Officer Nora."
Lin Ye ntally organized cases and planned tonight's route.
"I love night shifts, sir."

With Grace's help, Lin Ye accessed the precinct armory.
While Nora stood guard outside, Lin Ye stuffed every usable weapon into his loot space. The forr director's suspicious death made him distrust other officers.
Humans always find betrayal excuses.
Weapons never do.
Returning to the car with Nora, Lin Ye equipped an earpiece and lapel mic for constant communication.
"Where first, sir?"
Nora asked as the sports car hit the streets.
"Investigating? No, Officer Nora. Tonight we're not investigating."
Lin Ye had always excelled at roleplaying - not because he enjoyed it, but because he understood how to play convincing roles.
Tonight he wouldn't play the police director role. Tonight, rules didn't apply.
Tonight, he made the rules.
"Tonight, we hunt."
"First stop - Golden Apple Club. Floor it."
"Yes sir!"
Nora stomped the accelerator as if crushing all her pent-up frustrations.

The sports car screeched to a drifting halt outside an upscale club, leaving smoking tire marks.
"Wait here with engine running."
Lin Ye approached alone. Two buzzcut bouncers in black suits blocked him.
"Closed tonight."
One growled through a scarred face.
"Perfect timing."
Lin Ye smiled, having just pondered how to clear the venue.
"You—"
The bouncer's neck snapped mid-sentence.
His partner joined him before uttering a word.
