Chapter 439: Chapter 227: Vier’s Unexplained Enthusiasm (Part 2)

An E-level mission like this, with the full reward, can directly earn 300 Gold Coins, who knows how many goblin nests that amounts to.

If every adventure in the future could yield such harvests, his promotion speed would shoot up like a rocket, and he would soon accumulate the points needed for advanced combat skills.

Thinking of this, he started to have a faint expectation for his future, almost eager to rush into the forest and find a few goblins to relieve his excitent.

Of course, no matter how his emotions fluctuated inside.

For now, he still had to sit here.

Because the eting ti Xia Nan had agreed upon with the Association for the transaction of the Purple Fir Magic Staff was about to arrive.

His gaze unconsciously glanced at the clock on the wall.

[9:29]

There was still one minute left before the agreed eting ti of 9:30 AM.

Yet, he was still the only one in the eting room.

He thought to himself that the buyer might be running late.

But it didn’t really matter since he had just returned to town and didn’t have many urgent matters.

As long as the transaction could be completed and his account grew by several hundred more Gold Coins, he would be willing to wait here all day.

And just as the clock’s second hand made its way through the last minute before the agreed ti, making most of a circle on the dial, and landed on the mark signifying “11”.

With only five seconds left to 9:30.

A sudden, light yet inexplicably steady set of footsteps sounded outside the door.

As if intentionally tid to the appointed mont, not a second more, not a second less.

In the instant the second hand hit zero.

“Creak.”

The eting room door was gently pushed open from the outside.

Revealing a girl with an exceptionally young face, slim figure, and wearing a robe.

Her deep chestnut hair seed casually tied with a leather cord into a neat and lively high ponytail, but the strands hanging over her cheeks and the fluffy bangs on her forehead were ticulously arranged, clearly styled carefully before going out;

A pair of amber eyes sparkled with crystal clarity, reflecting a depth and steadiness unexpected for a girl her age, with a faint trace of deeply hidden fatigue.

Her beige robe looked worn for a long ti, with so parts washed to a faded color, yet not a speck of dirt could be seen, clean and tidy, with a practical dark brown cloak draped over her shoulders.

“Mage?”

High perception took effect silently, and nurous pieces of information that ordinary people couldn’t capture were gathered into Xia Nan’s brain the instant he saw the girl before him.

The white fingers subtly exposed beneath the robe’s hem, tainted with ink stains and slight scorch marks, the slightly active magic particles in the air around her body as she moved, and the leather pouch at her waist, different from that commonly used by adventurers…

Plus so unknown credible intuition convinced him that the girl who had just opened the door was genuinely a spellcaster.

Not an imposter like Mint, who disguised herself using her abilities and equipnt effects.

Out of politeness, and respect for the upcoming transaction, Xia Nan stood up and greeted her:

“Hello, I’m Xia Nan, you must be the one who commissioned the collection task?”

“Hello, yes, I…”

A gentle female voice ca tiredly from the front, apparently about to introduce herself.

But just halfway through, her previously smooth words abruptly halted as if stuck.

He looked over.

Only to see the girl with the deep chestnut high ponytail staring at him blankly.

And on her delicately featured white face was an inexplicable expression Xia Nan had never seen since his transmigration.

To draw an imperfect analogy, it was like an ordinary person who doesn’t really follow celebrities, being persuaded by relatives to reluctantly agree to a blind date.

Upon arriving at the agreed location, they unexpectedly found the person sitting across the table to be soone with a familiar face often seen on television screens.

The instant bewildered daze, the perplexing expression mingled with surprise and suspicion, couldn’t possibly be an act.

And after the initial shock, although the other party disguised it quickly, Xia Nan still sharply noticed that deep in her eyes, the eruption of a kind of—

Fear.

“What does that an?” he couldn’t help but wonder in his heart, “Does she know ?”

Xia Nan furrowed his brow, searching through all his mories, yet he couldn’t find any image resembling her figure or face.

The pause was just for a mont.

The Mage girl’s reaction was swift, gathering all changes in expression in an instant, wearing a polite yet not distant smile on her face, and continued:

“Hello, I heard from the Association you have a resonating relic?”

“To be honest, I am currently in need of such items to assist in my experints. Is it possible for to take a look?”

“Of course, I will certainly offer a price that will satisfy you!”

“Oh, I nearly forgot to introduce myself, how rude of .”

“You can just call ‘Vier’, Mr. Xia Nan.”

Seeing the other party’s enthusiastic deanor, Xia Nan suppressed his doubts, nodded in response, and shook hands with Vier who stepped forward.

The excellent perception ability took effect once more.

He clearly felt that the warmth in his palm suddenly beca unnaturally rigid the mont it touched his, as if jolted by electricity wanting to retreat, but then forcibly restrained by her will, trembling slightly as they completed the handshake.

His gaze couldn’t help but shift upwards, looking at the girl in front of him.

And then he saw Vier instinctively retract her chin, hiding her fragile neck behind her jaw.

“Strange, do I know her?”

The other’s strange behavior left Xia Nan even more confused, but he had already let go of her hand, turned around, and took out the Purple Fir Magic Staff from his backpack, placing it on the table.

Knowing her unnaturalness had been noticed by the sharp-eyed black-haired young man in front of her, Vier dared not engage in further small talk or say any aningless nonsense, and went straight to the point, inspecting the staff intently.

“Please wait a mont, Mr. Xia Nan.”

She said very politely.

Roughly five minutes later, she nodded gently.

The white, slender index finger stroked a few tis in the air around the staff.

Whoosh—

A gentle breeze suddenly swept through the windowless eting room.

Upon lightly touching the staff, magic radiance flickered briefly at her fingertips.

Vier’s amber eyes briefly lost focus for a mont.

The next second, they returned to normal.

Smiling, she replied to Xia Nan:

“It is indeed a rare resonating relic. May I ask if Mr. Xia Nan has a price in mind? It’s fine if it’s a bit higher; we can negotiate.”

So generous?

It was the first ti he’d t soone willing to raise the price actively.

Hearing her say this, Xia Nan couldn’t help but internally jab at her enthusiasm.

Whether it was that this Mage girl nad Vier had such a disposition, or because…

Recalling her strange expression and actions when they first t.

He pondered for a mont but didn’t rush to complete the transaction.

Thinking to probe for more information, he asked instead:

“I hope this isn’t too presumptuous, but before we proceed, I have a question.”

“Go ahead.”

“Just now, the spell you cast on the Purple Fir Magic Staff, was it… Identification Skill?”

“Yes, Mr. Xia Nan.” Vier nodded with a smile, patiently and politely explaining to him, “But it was a modified variant of the Identification Skill, specifically used to evaluate materials like resonating relics, with a significantly simplified casting process.”

“But I’m very sorry, Mr. Xia Nan, due to school oaths, I’m afraid I can’t provide you with the corresponding Magic Model. If you’re interested, I…”

“No need, no need.”

Xia Nan waved his hands repeatedly.

After eting, the inexplicable enthusiasm of the Mage girl, even within his own heart, felt sowhat uneasy.

It couldn’t possibly be a cliché “love at first sight” scenario; her behavior must have a reason behind it.

Yet in his mory, he had no impression of Vier at all, certain that neither his original self nor himself after the crossover had ever t her.

Then… why was this?
