Chapter 454: Chapter 235: Primal Roar from the Heavens

Luca’s cooking skills were quite ordinary.

Regarding this point, Xia Nan had already confird it in his heart on the afternoon before setting off from River Valley Town, after tasting for the first ti the pot of “smoked at stew” made by the guy.

This burly, honest man seed to have no experience in handling ingredients.

A few potatoes were either not peeled properly or were peeled into a pitted ss, leaving them only half their normal size.

The seasoning was even more abstract. Who knows how he managed to pile all that saltiness at the bottom of the soup.

The top was as bland as clear water, while the bottom was salty enough to choke your throat.

It felt like any ordinary child who had managed a household from the roadside would make food far tastier than what he did, by just fiddling around in the kitchen.

In this light, it seed their escort team wasn’t as well-rounded as they imagined themselves to be.

Of course, considering that Xia Nan wasn’t particularly skilled in the culinary arts either, and had no intention of taking over the role of team cook, he wasn’t in a position to say much.

Although originally from a normal villager family, but he generally worked in the fields with his father and brothers. Even though his mother and sister helped during busy farming seasons, they would often return early to prepare the als. By the ti they got ho, dinner was usually ready, leaving him no experience in handling ingredients.

As for himself… let’s just say that if he ran his hand over the kitchen counter in his rented apartnt, it would co away covered in dust.

He’d watched plenty of various cooking videos, but at the very most, he only added a fried egg to his instant noodles. Coming ho every day under the stars, he’d lie on the sofa and in seconds would pass out. There was simply no ti or energy to improve his cooking skills.

Faced with this awkward situation among the team, there really wasn’t any suitable solution.

Thankfully, as adventurers in the wild, once we moved away from “complex” kitchenware, the situation improved significantly.

As long as they placed the food above a campfire to cook it thoroughly and sprinkled so seasoning, no matter how it was prepared, it wouldn’t taste that bad.

“Crunch.”

The muscles on both sides of his cheeks and arms simultaneously exerted force, and he bit off a piece of jerky.

Chewing hard, feeling the tough, salty, and slightly astringent taste on the tip of his tongue, Xia Nan’s face showed no change in expression, but he dipped the jerky several tis into a small honey jar he carried with him.

His gaze grew slightly unfocused, as if he was trying to savor the uniquely sweet aroma of honey, reminisce on the wonderful tis spent at the White Sparrow Tavern.

At the sa ti, he made up his mind that if he ever had the opportunity to acquire a magic item with space magic that could store items at will, he would definitely pack countless gourt foods before heading out.

Otherwise, even if he beca transcendent or legendary in the future, going out on an adventure would still be all about boiling beans and chewing jerky, with no real sense of improvent in strength.

Swallowing the jerky with hot water boiled over the campfire, Xia Nan leaned back against the tree trunk, his eyes half-closed as he gazed at the flas in front of him. His beheading long sword and the Wooden Sword, “Green Pine,” were placed by his side, ready to be grabbed and used in defense at any mont.

Currently, the escort team had already left River Valley Town and was in the desolate wilderness near the edge of the Mist Forest, where few people ventured.

Because they had to consider that Neum might have already discovered Hai’an’s disappearance and begun a pursuit.

Wood’s route choice kept them mostly away from the main roads between towns, heading deep into the wilderness and necessitating a traverse through part of the Mist Forest if required.

Only when needing supplies did they make short stops in a few relatively safe villages and towns.

Luckily, River Valley Town was already a remote village near the edge of Pan Yun Province, not far from the bordering Yuan Sha Province, and their destination, Nianshu Territory, was similarly located at the junction of the two provinces.

So, the entire journey wasn’t too far.

With almost a whole team of professional-level adventurers, a month’s ti was more than enough.

As for why they didn’t use a carriage or other transportation… as ntioned earlier, part of the reason was that they might need to cross terrain like hills and rivers during the journey, which isn’t very convenient; besides, there was also the possibility of entering the Mist Forest, where dense trees and monster threats made it very inconvenient for either horses or vehicles.

Looking ahead, the entire campsite was fully visible under the light of the campfire.

Standing at the forefront was the warrior and guard of the Wakefield family, Luca, who had just returned from setting up warning traps. In his hand, he held a struggling rabbit, apparently captured along the way.

This honest-looking man, unlike his poor kitchen performance, appeared very professional and cautious when adventuring.

Even in the wilderness, where the chances of encountering a demon were far lower than deep within the forest, and with simple magic alarms temporarily set around the camp by the Mage Vier.

He still set up traps farther away out of habit, as a double security asure.

Luca gently twisted the rabbit’s neck with his calloused hands, causing it to twitch and cease its struggle.

Xia Nan watched him rip open the rabbit’s belly with his hands, pulling out the entrails and throwing them into the fire.

Feigning to remove so fur, he picked up a stick, skewered the entire rabbit, and set it over the flas.

Noticing Xia Nan’s gaze, he grinned sheepishly, lifting the stick with the rabbit carcass slightly as if asking if Xia Nan wanted a bite.

The scent of burnt stench wafted across from him.

Xia Nan smiled and politely declined.

But his hand couldn’t help but dip the jerky two more tis into the honey jar.
