Chapter 607: Chapter 305: Goblin Nest and Gravity Core? (2)

In response, to quickly eradicate the goblin cluster deep in the forest, and prevent it from growing to an unmanageable scale.

The adventurer association provided targeted asures, naly, raising the difficulty rating of the goblin extermination tasks, compensating those professional adventurers with gold coins and points for their losses, to encourage them to go to the core areas of the Mist Forest to eradicate the goblins.

This was essentially using commission rewards to replace the original loot gains from the nests.

Take Xia Nan’s current task as an example; with just dozens of goblins, can it really qualify as an “E” level mission with a reward of three hundred gold coins or ten points?

Most of it is subsidies from the adventurer association.

If you can actually withstand countless dangers on the road and safely travel between River Valley Town and the core area of the Mist Forest, the goblin tribe targeted by the mission is basically just a bonus.

Gladly accepting, he stuffed these scattered gold coins and small stones into his backpack.

Carrying a debt of over four hundred gold, Xia Nan certainly wouldn’t disdain this little extra inco from battles, even if it’s just for food expenses, it would buy quite a few bowls of mushroom soup.

After confirming once again that those severed limbs and shattered flesh on the field had no possibility of resurrection, he didn’t rush to leave after collecting the loot.

Instead, he began to ticulously inspect this massive nest, searching for any overlooked gains.

The scale is similar to large churches in those big cities; if the previous high-ranking adventurer team responsible for the eradication didn’t search it thoroughly, he might end up with so leftover spoils, which might directly cover the funding gap for the longsword’s reforging.

Unfortunately, Xia Nan’s luck wasn’t that good, and he underestimated the high-level professionals’ searching ability.

After walking through and inspecting the entire nest twice, he couldn’t find any valuable loot.

But it’s not completely without gains; his keen perception ability allowed Xia Nan to discover so anomalies.

In the center of the entire nest, there was a piece of ground noticeably different from the surroundings, flatter and slightly lighter in color.

Approximately ten square ters in size, it was a rounded quadrilateral.

It felt to him like there used to be so small structure, like an altar or statue, resting here for a long ti, later suddenly taken away, leaving traces behind.

Most crucially, around the distinctly colored piece of quadrilateral ground, Xia Nan found many skeletal fragnts.

Very peculiar.

Based on so highly recognizable details on the bones, he could be sure these bones belonged to Green-skinned Goblins.

They weren’t even variants like Earth Goblins or Bear Goblins, but the most common, classic foot soldiers.

Oddly, these bones, which should be child-sized like human children, seed proportionately enlarged before his eyes, so even expanded to the size of a Bear Goblin.

Xia Nan had never seen this type of goblin.

And the arrangent of these remains caught his attention even more.

Instead of being piled haphazardly as on a battlefield, filling the ground in disorganized heaps, they were arranged in a patterned, concentric circle style, centered around that piece of quadrilateral land.

In a trance, Xia Nan even got a sense similar to the traces ford in the grassland by a gravity outburst when he had just advanced.

“High-ranking Adventurer Team,” “Hunting Day,” “Level Up,” “Gravity”…

Various pieces of information converged in his mind, suddenly reminding him of the rainy day when he advanced to be a professional.

The tossed [Destiny Coin] and the spontaneously appearing [Gravity Core] blocking the blade.

Even the advanced mage he t once, and the golden-haired elf suspected to be possessed by an evil god.

Xia Nan’s expression suddenly beca peculiar.

He stepped back two steps, carefully scrutinizing the ground before him.

“Could it be this coincidental?”

Could that briefly flashing [Gravity Core]… have co from here?

From within a goblin nest?

It felt absurd to him.

But all the traces before his eyes and his intuition were telling him this was the most likely scenario.

His mind raced, and at this mont, Xia Nan even felt an urge to stay in the nest for a few more days, carefully exploring those passages leading God-knows-where, radiating a dangerous aura.

And it was at this mont, from a deep entrance nearby, ca a strange sound.

Like the sound produced by the friction of insect shells against the ground, faintly accompanied by a sharp, high-frequency screech.

Suddenly alert, his mind emptied.

The longsword gripped across his chest, Xia Nan stepped back.

Just as he opened up so distance, a “boom” explosion echoed.

The seemingly spacious entrance was thrown wide open!

A massive creature, emitting a stench and rotting odor, suddenly appeared before his eyes.

It was like a lobster enlarged countless tis.

The yellow-brown chitinous shell covered its entire body, extending elongated appendages twisting together from its mouthpieces, its enormous pincers clamping shut, emitting a terrifying sharp noise.

Xia Nan didn’t recognize this demon.

Though its physical features looked sowhat familiar, as if he had heard soone ntion it before, he couldn’t quickly recall its na now.

But it’s certain, this creature, resembling a lobster, was in extrely precarious condition.

Its tail was only half remaining, one of its small legs was broken.

Burn marks from fla were all over its body surface, the left eye had vanished, leaving only a dark, mucus-dripping hole.

From the spine slanting downward through the shoulders to the front chest, one whole segnt of chitin was missing, exposing underneath the fibrous, large, light white muscles, visible in their squirming and stretching movents accompanying its bodily actions, with slight twitching changes.

Most striking was its single remaining giant pincer that seed dangerously capable of cutting through steel.

Now, only the left one remained.

The right pincer at the shoulder chitin junction was cleanly cut off, hanging down with several thick gray-white nerve cords, oozing translucent viscous fluids nonstop from the broken end.

This was undoubtedly a severe injury.

In fact, if it were any ordinary creature, such injuries would have been life-threatening; it was impossible for it to be like this opponent, lively and waving the remaining pincer non-stop.

Exercising his perception ability to the extre, Xia Nan quickly assessed the demon’s actual combat ability, weighing the choices between retreating and engaging.

Facing the enemy, amidst shifting footwork, he had already moved into a more open angle.

The giant goblin nest no longer had the previous cramped and constrained awful experience; it was like an open square, allowing Xia Nan’s advantages in speed and burst to fully manifest.

With [Dead Line] ring and [Tear of Spring Breath] necklace in hand, he possessed a high error tolerance.

Go up and give it a try first; if it falls within his manageable range, then it’s best; maybe the materials from its body could sell for so money;

If this demon, despite such severe injuries, still proved challenging to him, then using [Teeth Hunting] to retreat was also an option, after all, the extermination task was already complete, without any loss.

Roar——

A prolonged wolf howl suddenly erupted, instantly suppressing the demon’s screeching.

A shadow-covered colossal black wolf leapt, its silver-white fangs penetrating the armored monster’s right arm stump with a speed surpassing human reaction capabilities.

Ferociously stirred!

Screech——

A sharp sound full of pain echoed through the empty nest.

The armored monster’s whole body seed to stiffen for a mont under this attack, and its only remaining left arm swung fiercely to the side.

The pincers opened wide, only to clamp onto air when closing.

As its mane swung around, the black wolf had already prepared during the stretch of muscles on its front chest.

With a light backward leap, it effortlessly dodged the armored monster’s pincers as if preemptively judged.

Translucent viscous fluids dripping from the sword blade, the left arm’s [Dark Scale Guard] reflecting a faint light.

In a hurried exchange.

Regarding the demon’s strength before him, Xia Nan was now clear in his mind.
