Chapter 772: Chapter 386: Salmon Roe

Suo Yu Bay is not a natural harbor.

At least in ancient tis, it was far from the prosperity it enjoys now.

Two narrow peninsulas, resembling the sharp fangs of a barracuda, extend from the coast, forming a perfect arc that nearly ets at the end, leaving a relatively narrow entrance to the vast sea.

This creates a deep and smooth open sea area within Suo Yu Bay, enough to anchor a large number of ships.

However, as if in a cruel jest by the creator, a natural trap is buried within this gift.

At the junction of those two barracuda fang-like peninsulas, is the demarcation line between the calm bay and the turbulent outer sea, located at the sole entrance.

There is a dense array of deadly reefs and dark currents.

Even the most experienced captains cannot easily navigate this area safely.

As a result, for a long ti, despite the bay’s advantageous natural environnt, only a few reclusive fishfolk, or scattered Fishman Tribes, resided here.

Until countless years ago.

A legendary treasure ship from the ancient Elf Kingdom, after a brutal war where divine blood rained down, was swept into the bay by the dark currents, with the entrance’s reefs becoming the last straw that broke the cal’s back.

In a most tragic way, it sank in Suo Yu Bay.

Most of the crew were claid by the relentless storms and thunder that followed them from start to finish, their lives taken and buried at sea. The few survivors, saved by the local natives, also died early due to the ocean’s curse.

Leaving only a vague legend of a treasure on the ship that “could buy an entire kingdom.”

Perhaps the destruction of this legendary-level ship was too tragic, and the grand thunder and storms reminded people of a great presence protecting this sea;

It could also be that the curse on the surviving crew was so terrifying that they subconsciously kept silent, fearing that discussing any related matters might bring the curse upon themselves.

Initially, this legend did not spread widely across the Aifala Continent, or even the nearby seas.

Until a few hundred years ago, a fallen fishfolk, exiled from their community, during a rare extre low tide that occurs once in decades, discovered so remnants of that legendary treasure ship among the exposed reefs, and a few pieces of enchanted equipnt that still emitted a magical radiance after being buried deep in the ocean for many years.

The secret spread with the sudden disappearance of the fishfolk, and the circulation of the ship’s relics and enchanted equipnt in the black market, like ripples in water.

An ancient secret, a long-lost treasure, and the items auctioned for sky-high prices at black market auctions…

Adventurers, pirates, rchants, destitute nobles… speculators and desperadoes, like sharks slling blood, sward into Suo Yu Bay.

From the initial makeshift camps to small gathering points made of canvas tents and crude wooden buildings, fueled by greed, Suo Yu Bay developed at a rapid pace.

Of course, it went through a very chaotic period. Its unique geographic position at the southernmost coastal point of the Sevia Kingdom even made it a gateway for fugitives leaving the continent at so special ti.

A mix of fish and dragons, wanted vicious adventurers, pirates, cultists, mysterious races from Haiwa… almost every evil force imaginable left traces here.

For a long ti, Suo Yu Bay was even nicknad “Pickpocket Island” and “Bone Island.”

Chaos cannot continue to create wealth, and the dangers continuously breeding here also made it impossible for the Sevia Kingdom’s officials and various True God Churches to ignore.

Thus, after a brief but violent bloody crackdown, Suo Yu Bay returned to its forr tranquility.

And the valuable assets left from its savage growth phase, along with the fa spread across the continent due to the ancient treasure, were naturally retained as part of the kingdom and continued to develop.

As for the dangerous reefs and dark currents at the bay’s entrance…

One can only say that when the King of Sevia, sitting in that extravagant, vast palace on a throne adorned with brilliant gemstones and fine velvet, casually nodded to the ministers presenting docunts for the developnt of Suo Yu Bay.

Those daring to impede the developnt of Suo Yu Bay, were like the scattered remains of the desperadoes and fugitives in the depths of the sea, flattened by powerful professionals sent by the kingdom.

From chaotic bloodshed to thriving prosperity.

Now, Suo Yu Bay has transford from an obscure, remote bay a few hundred years ago, into a great port that brings massive tax revenue to the kingdom every year.

Regarding its past, although Xia Nan had a general understanding before setting out, through the adventurer association’s information and the subjective introductions from tavern guests, he did not have a detailed and comprehensive understanding due to lack of personal experience.

But as for the current prosperity of Suo Yu Bay, he could perceive sowhat through his current actual experience.

When he and Colin descended the hillside path and stepped onto the cobblestone road of the main street.

The first thing that struck them was a complex and vast invisible torrent.

What were previously vague silhouettes now truly possessed their tangible forms imbued with warmth and strength.
