Perhaps it was because the storm swept away all the misfortunes.
The temporary repair plan for the Vengeance Blade Blade went very smoothly, progressing without a hitch. It reached the fishern’s island located in the nearby sea in less than half a day.
The storm ended deep in the night, and when the group reached the destination, it was early morning.
Standing on the deck, they could vaguely see the reefs and hilltops ahead, shrouded in mist over the sea.
There was no movent; in the air, only the sound of surging waves and the cries of seagulls circling overhead could be heard.
The island itself had nothing special, neither possessing specialties nor any spectacular scenery worth sightseeing.
Even the na "Wild Rabbit Island" was temporarily assigned for recording on the sea chart, and only spread after being passed down orally by passing sailors for many years.
There was a small fishing village on the island, not large in scale, usually without much presence. However, since Wild Rabbit Island was located on several routes leading to Suo Yu Bay, various vessels often passed by and occasionally stopped for rest and did so trading with the fishern.
Lorin, with rich sailing experience, had been to Wild Rabbit Island a few tis and, while not particularly close with the village’s head, was at least familiar.
Now, after encountering a storm, the ship needed a temporary stop for repair. She wondered if she could do so transactions with them, exchanging surplus supplies on the ship for so useful ship repair materials.
Pointed leather boots stepped lightly on the beach, leaving a faint footprint.
Lorin’s gaze swept over the front.
The Vengeance Blade Blade had already anchored near the makeshift port on the beach. The crew, under the command of the twin warriors Rein and Gordon, were diligently at work, while the minstrel Alton played a tune to raise the spirits and morale of the working sailors.
After so thought, she waved over to Xia Nan and Hai Yin.
After all, going to negotiate with the village wasn’t the sa as going into battle, so she had to choose two more presentable ones to follow her.
Otherwise, if she let Akken or Sasha follow, with the forr’s bald, tattooed, robust man appearance just standing inside the village, it might be unnecessary to negotiate and instead turn into intimidation; and the latter, being a mber of the Spotted Cat race, would be seen by the islanders, who grew up living in the nearby seas, as no different from demons.
In contrast, in most non-combat situations, Hai Yin appeared as a young and beautiful girl. Even due to her being a spellcaster, she had fair skin that the Fishfolk did not, making her stand out in a crowd.
As for Xia Nan... though his deanor was indeed a bit cold, and he usually seed sowhat silent, not saying much, one had to admit that his appearance was indeed quite good.
With sharp features complented by that good equipnt, just one look gave the impression of a senior adventurer.
Having these two behind her, this negotiation should not be too difficult.
Thinking this, Lorin called out:
"Hai Yin, Xia Nan, co with to the village."
"Everyone else makes camp nearby, but don’t let your guard down!"
"..."
Xia Nan naturally had no objections to this.
After all, even if he stayed here, he wouldn’t be of much use.
Unlike the little guy who could play tunes to boost the team’s morale, he had indeed hurriedly supplented many sailing and ship-related knowledge during his ti at Suo Yu Bay, but his foundation was ultimately weak, and there was much to learn.
His understanding of ship repairs and maintenance was only superficial, and rushing to participate would just cause trouble.
The only thing he could do was to use his advantage in perception to warn the crew temporarily stationed near the beach of surrounding dangers.
With Captain Lorin taking him out, he would not refuse.
The island had not undergone large-scale developnt, and only near the temporary wharf could traces of human achievent be seen. The surroundings were almost no different from the jungle terrain.
Above was a dense green canopy capable of blocking sunlight, and below was waist-high grass and shrubs.
Fortunately, there was a small fishing village nearby, preventing it from being a complete prival forest. People would intermittently co and go between the village and the port, leaving a faint, narrow trail, sparing the need to deal with those tough and tangled vines.
Walking in such an outdoor jungle was not an easy task, even for many adventurers.
Surrounding terrain restrictions were one thing; the most dangerous were those poisonous creatures hidden deep within the dense grass.
A slight inattention could lead to a bite and heavy consequences.
To so extent, this is why many adventurers consider detoxification potions a must-have on travails.
But the current situation was different.
Having roughly understood the environnt of Wild Rabbit Island, knowing there were no dangerous demons, Lorin still instructed Xia Nan and the others to maintain a cautious formation.
She led at the front, wielding the Scale Fire Saber to clear the way, with Hai Yin protected in the middle of the team, and Xia Nan bringing up the rear, all tightly positioned.
Thanks to the Yang Fla damage bonus against Snake and Scorpion creatures from the Green Pine Wooden Sword he carried behind him, the wooden sword had been warm ever since he followed the captain into the jungle.
Like a humanoid radar, he scanned the surroundings for poisonous snakes.
Moreover, his left arm’s Dark Scale Guard provided an Intimidation bonus against snake creatures, so as soon as Xia Nan’s gaze swept over the grass, there was a sudden intense rustling, and the vibrant scales quickly disappeared among the shaking foliage.
