Twin Ocean, a special mariti area located among the Southern Islands of the continent.
Just like its na "Twin", the seawater in this area is like a pair of twin siblings, different in color yet coexisting distinctly.
On one side is the clear and transparent reflection of the blue sky, while the other side presents a brownish-red color akin to rust and clay.
The two colors of seawater do not mix, not even a buffering zone of mixed colors exists, but a tangible boundary line, like "oil" and "water", divides them distinctly into two parts.
From a high altitude, it looks as if so invisible force has forcibly stitched these two completely different mariti zones together, odd and peculiar.
Nobody knows the reason for the birth of such a natural scene. Since the first adventurer from Suo Yu Bay set foot here, this area has always been this way.
So have inquired about the situation from islanders residing around the adjacent seas for generations, but each account differs.
So say it’s the remnants from a fight between the ancient Sea Goddess Ambory and the God of Sailors Vilco; others say a powerful demon from the deepest part of the sky is buried under the sea here, and its blood from its wound dyed the nearby waters red.
Over the years, many geologists and oceanographers have hired adventurer fleets to personally investigate, determining that the formation of the brownish-red mariti area is due to the red clay at its bottom and the special iron-laden rock stratum.
But concerning why these two completely different colored waters can be separated so distinctly, no one has given a credible conclusion, ending up attributing it to an unusual natural phenonon under the influence of magic particles.
Out of interest in the local cultural environnt and carefulness about the imminent mission, Xia Nan inquired quite a bit about this mariti area from his teammates on the ship during the nearly week-long journey from Suo Yu Bay to here.
The Twin Ocean itself is not just about having two different water colors.
Its ecological environnt, species systems, and natural scenery all have significant differences compared to ordinary mariti areas.
Firstly, due to the difference in density and chemical composition of the water on both sides of the boundary line, sunlight from the sky undergoes intense refraction at the boundary.
From a distance, it looks like a faintly distorted, semi-transparent raised wall in the air.
Birds unfamiliar with the local environnt often experience visual confusion due to this air wall and lose their sense of direction, diving headfirst into the water.
Secondly, perhaps long ago, when this sea area hadn’t undergone such a transformation, this place’s animal ecology wasn’t much different from other places.
But after centuries of isolated evolution, the animals living in the Twin Ocean gradually evolved into forms completely different from their original species.
Just like the Scorched Necked Shark that attacked the Vengeance Blade Blade before, and now this strange ribbon fish in Xia Nan’s hand with scales of completely different colors on either side.
Hmm... Others said that these differently colored fish, only found in the Twin Ocean, taste very unique. The at is firm, and after cooking, there’s a hint of mineral-specific saltiness, making Xia Nan irresistibly anticipate.
Finally, due to the unique nature of the Twin Ocean water, the sea salt harvested here has a deeper flavor, making it an excellent ingredient for seasoning or curing at, highly popular in the market; the abundant minerals on the seabed further enrich this mariti area’s ecosystem, nourishing countless diverse marine creatures.
Xia Nan placed the multi-colored ribbon fish into a wooden bucket, looked up, and his gaze went past the deck, towards the distant horizon.
On the broad sea that seed to extend infinitely towards the sky, a straight and invisible line divided the entire world in half.
On one side was the deep blue of the ocean, while the other was an intensely eye-catching, robust rusty brown that appeared sowhat murky.
At the junction line, the air slightly twisted, and the waves interwove and collided here, splashing crystal-clear reddish water droplets.
A seagull cried as it flew overhead, but its feathers weren’t the usual pure white; instead, they were a gradient brownish-red, reflecting the seawater below.
Especially as it flapped its wings over the invisible boundary line in the sea, the reddish-brown sea below further complented its brown-red feathers as if in harmony.
"Splash!"
An unexpectedly louder wave sound reached his ears.
Following the sound, he saw at the distant boundary, the two colors of seawater seed to be squeezed inward by two invisible giant hands, colliding and forming a spectacular, kiloter-long step-like wave staircase.
"This is the unique ’water ladder’ phenonon of the Twin Ocean."
Approaching their destination, Hai Yin concluded her ditation, walked down from the bow, and introduced the scene to Xia Nan from the inland.
"I heard so scholars in Suo Yu Bay analyze its principle, saying that the convection is due to the temperature difference between the two sides of the water in specific seasons.
Xia Nan, not being a physicist in his past life and having returned most of what he learned in school after many years, wasn’t sure if this theory was reasonable.
However, as he’s not one to overly scrutinize details, since the Druid explained it this way, he would just take it as such.
