"And so, with that in mind... Hey, are you even paying any attention?!"

Vincent let out a yawn then scratched his arm.

One of the many advantages of having higher stats, was the ability to transcend normal mundane worries.

One of them being sleep.

'I can't say if that's a blessing or a curse though.'

Unlike others, Vincent thoroughly enjoyed his rest ti.

Though, he hadn't been getting enough of it lately.

The scent of the morning air drifted into his nostrils, providing him with so form of comfort at the very least.

His gaze traveled in a wide berth, taking in the terrain that was quite different from what he was used to.

Today, under Hunter's rather annoying supervision, he had been relieved of his ship deck duties and was transfered to an outpost on the part of the wall right at the outskirts of where the forr Do of Sands had been drawn.

Apparently, he had beco so much of a danger to the female Hunters and mundanes who couldn't resist his charms and fell victim to his handsoness.

Simply translated, he had been outed as a perv.

But realistically, such things shouldn't have mattered too much if there weren't so many other things that were to be taken into consideration.

Except his own feelings of course.

'I can't believe that guy could do this to !'

As he lanted internally, Vincent had already finished taking in all the details he needed to.

With his special Devil Eyes, he could see very, very far away, with incredible detail to boot.

To handle his high caliber magic sniper, such precise sight was only par for the course.

With the Do of Sands gone for a while now, there was little protection on this side of the wall.

To make matters even worse, less than a kiloter away, was the site of one of the legendary battles that had happened six months ago;

The battle at the Devil Chasm, or what was it called again?

In any case, the thick Devilish Miasma still rise into the skies till this day from the remnant corpses of the Devils that had not been destroyed, painting that patch of sky a thick black.

On the other side of the chasm, however, was a long stretch of wilderness with mostly nothing to see.

This stretch of lowlands, seed to stretch out into infinity and beyond, reaching even past the horizon.

His enhanced eyes couldn't see their ends.

However, he could still discern a few things.

He turned to his side,

"No, I wasn't listening."

He wasn't the only one assigned to this wall.

Manny wore a displeased look on his face as he poked at his cheek,

"What's this?! Haven't you been a little bit too cocky these days? Want to put you in your place, heh?!"

Brushing his finger aside, Vincent quickly changed the subject,

"What was it you were saying?"

Manny sighed and pointed towards the empty plains,

"I was saying that this might be a blessing in disguise for us."

Vincent raised a brow.

Most of the ti, he could never tell what Manny was thinking.

Most of the ti, he seed rather simpleminded.

On so rare occasions, however, he beca rather full of surprises.

"How do?" He asked cautiously.

Manny chuckled and raised his shoulders proudly,

"Well, I just so happened to notice a few burrowing mutant creatures just a while ago. Our stay here is sure to be eventful if we hunt those guys down."

Vincent sighed and turned to the third person on the wall,

"Hey, if I jump off this wall, what do you think my chances of dying are?"

Calio trembled and wiped the sweat off his forehead,

"That... Ten percent, I guess?"

Vincent clicked his tongue and sighed,

"Too slow. Maybe it's because I'm not heavy enough."

'These two are insane.' Calio thought to himself.

'Why did I even need to co along? This is so frustrating.'

He let out a sigh and turned away.

Fiddling with his bow that he had unstrung and restrung multiple tis already, he couldn't help but think,

'Luckily, I only need to endure for three more days.'

He raised his glance,

"By the way, why are we even out here?"

His question was directed towards Vincent.

There was silent for a mont before Vincent answered,

"That is a good question under. We are out here to 'look for any changes'."

Calio's brows twitched,

"What changes are we even looking for?!"

Vincent shook his head,

"I have no idea."

'Damn it all!'

"But..." He said as he turned around and stretched.

"We'll know if we see any. That's what I was told, at least."

Calio huffed,

'In this barren place, anything could constitute as "change".'

Vincent chuckled,

"Still, don't you think it is a bit odd?"

Calio raised a brow and frowned,

"W-what do you an?"

Vincent chuckled ominously,

"Perhaps we are lying in wait of so terrible catastrophe? Or maybe there is so terrible nightmarish spawn we are to accost before it wreaks havoc on our prescious city?!"

Calio's gaze imdiately turned suspicious,

"You... Are you trying to jinx us?"

He panicked internally.

All he wanted was to conclude this stupid mission as quickly as possible. There was no need for it to be eventful, or for it to go on longer than necessary.

Vincent blinked,

"Jinx, you say..."

Suddenly Vincent chuckled,

"I don't think that would be necessary."

A terrible feeling settled over Calio's heart.

Manny's ears perked up as he gazed into the distance.

His expression turned rather strange, almost excited even...

"There's sothing headed this way..."

Vince guffawed,

"I have co from a thousand battles at sea. Now, I shall face the terrors the land has to offer! How exciting!" He said with his roaring laughter.

"Yes, how exciting!" Manny mirrored him as he drew the blades resting at his waist.

"I hate this. I hate my life. I hate everything..." Calio murmured to himself.

Vincent's eyes took on a strange shade as he peered into the distance.

"Now then... Let's see what the enemy looks like this ti."

Suddenly, he froze.

"That... There's no way."
