War...

"Creatures of war, destroyers of worlds and fate, destined to cause ruin and nothing more..."

"Feeling poetic today, Obegrin?"

The {Sky Corpse Rider} turned around to see Inixth standing behind him, a devilish grin on his face.

His rotting steed huffed viciously, a gust of poisonous miasma gushing from its rotting nostrils.

Obegrin frowned,

"What are you doing over here? You are supposed to lead the first charge?"

Inixth shrugged as he stepped closer to the enormous rotting steed.

The creature was vile, covered in decomposing flesh.

However, it was also rather powerful, with the ability to gallop through the air at high speeds.

The rotting steed glared at him murderously with his crimson eyes, its fangs bared, as though threatening to tear him apart.

Inixth chuckled, "How scary..."

Then he turned back to Obegrin,

"The scum will end up dead anyways, so why not take our ti?"

Obegrin glared at him, his eyes blazing with profane mana,

"Let make this clear, Inixth. If the plans fall through because of you, even death would be a rcy for you."

Inixth casually waved his hand.

He stared forward, his eyes burning with a dark excitent,

"Why do you always seem so apprehensive? What's there to be frightened of? They are just humans."

Obegrin frowned, "The prophecy—"

"Prophecy my ass. Do you seriously believe that crap?!" Inixth said with a snort.

Obegrin's frown deepened, but he remained silent.

Noticing this, Inixth grinned,

"See? Even you know it."

Inixth sighed as he spread his arms wide.

Below, thousands upon thousands of {Zombies} marched forward, all in differing stages of decomposition.

Their eyes were murky and soulless, and their bodies covered in black ooze.

Their lifeless growls and groan rose to the sky like worship to their devilish masters.

The sky itself has turned black, deeper than the night itself, as thousands of Devils flew, all headed in one direction.

The Do of Sands.

Death and Doom was coming.

Inixth spread his arms wide, his dark eyes filled with malevolent glee,

"Now that we have ascended, we have beco superior to these humans. From here on out, this world will beco ours. Just like countless others, they will be t with the sa fate, regardless of any prophecy."

"So I'll sit back and watch for now. Regardless, they will be crushed."

Obegrin hesitated for a mont, then clicked his tongue,

"Do whatever you want."

With a shrill cry, the rotting steed took off into the sky, leaving Inixth on the ground.

The newly evolved from a {Speed Devil} to a {Chaos Reaper Imp} chuckled viciously,

"There's so much prey to be hunted. I can't be too greedy, can I?"

Soaring through the air, Obegrin coldly assessed the current state.

Right now, the Devil Army was split into three main portions, each one responsible for bringing down each human Divine settlent.

One of the other settlents was already on the brink of destruction, leaving only two behind.

While the others didn't see the humans as an issue, he on the other hand saw things quite different.

"Maybe that is why he entrusted it to ..." Obegrin muttered to himself.

He glanced down as his fists.

His entire body was a killing machine. He was a Devil. One of the most fearso creatures in all of existence.

And so why...

Why was he enveloped with such an unnatural, ominous fear?

As though the ruin he ought to bring was destined for himself?

It made no sense.

He sighed,

"It doesn't matter. I'm probably overthinking it anyway." He muttered to himself.

But the feeling didn't go away.

***

The Do of Blood...

In a tall pagoda located right in the center of the Divine Territory...

"So? The Devils are already making their move?"

A voice ca from the darkness,

"Yes, Matriarch. Currently, the other two settlents are under siege, which ans we are most likely the next targets."

"Is that so..."

Sitting under dim red lights, surrounded by dozens of magic circles drawn with a deep crimson blood, was a woman with unearthly beauty.

So beautiful, she was, her features could excite, but condemn a man.

It was a cold, unfeeling beauty that could make any creature md with lust.

On her forehead was a rune with the appearance of a crescent moon.

She was the human chosen by the Celestial Deity of Blood and the Moon, the most powerful of the three Celestials that were present in the City of Zoan.

She looked up.

The roof of the pagoda seed to serve no purpose, as there was an enormous hole in it. Through this hole, silver moonlight stread into the room, providing illumination.

However, the light did not reach the dark corners, creating a rather picturesque contrast of light and darkness.

"I believe the ti has co then."

The voice from the darkness ca again. This ti, it sounded a bit surprised,

"You an..."

A vicious grin spread on her face as the moon shapes run on her face lit up with crimson light.

In the sky, the enormous moon that seed to stretch across the horizon, covering a huge portion of the Evernight sky began to change.

A single streak of red...

Then there was two...

Then five. Then ten...

Slowly, the moon began to lose its lustrous silver glow.

The pristine light, was instead replaced with a terrifying crimson.

The color of blood.

"The moon shall rise, and the world shall bow before the Queen of the Night." The Matriarch muttered to herself.

She glanced into the darkness.

It retreated, as though frightened by her glare,

"Inform the others that the ti has co. In a mont, I will take the shield given to us by the goddess's will away."

He turned around to glance at the moon, threads of crimson slowly devouring it.

"Tell them the order is to kill every Devil... and every human unwilling to submit."

***

"I don't know why, but sothing feels off today." Julio said, wiping his mouth after a coughing fit.

Cain glanced at him with a frown,

"If you don't stay quiet, you'll get both of us killed."

Julio grinned and gave him a thumbs up,

"You don't need to worry. The only person that can see or hear right now is you."

Cain sighed tiredly.

He had left Valestorm together with Julio a few hours ago, and both of them had ventured into the ruined city together.

Although they could be quicker, he had decided there was no harm in moving a little slowly.

So they had decided to take shelter in one of the many broken buildings dotting the broken cityscape.

In the darkness, Cain had covered himself with even more darkness that concealed his presence and form. Luckily, there was a lot of darkness around so he could easily blend in to his surroundings.

On the other hand, Julio had turned into a specter. Still, he could see and hear him.

He glanced at the item on his hand. It was a strange orb the size of a marble emitting a pale yellow glow darting within. Cain felt a hint of familiarity the mont he ca in contact with it.

'It's a spirit.'

'This guy looks too... positive for soone with thousands of lives on his shoulders.' Cain thought to himself with a frown.

Stretching his arms, Julio let out a tired yawn then relaxed, leaning against a wall.

He glanced at Cain with a smile,

"Hm? Your mind seems occupied. What's the matter?"

Cain blinked and turned to him with raised brows,

"What do you an what's the matter? We are currently at war with a world-devouring alien race. What else could possibly be the matter?"

'This guy definitely hit his head sowhere!'

Julio narrowed his eyes and pursed his lips,

"Hmm... That's not it. But I'm sure it will all turn out fine in the end."

Cain chuckled, "And how could you be so sure?"

Julio raised his gaze to look at the ceiling covered in cracks.

He turned to the side.

The room they were in seems to have been a nursery of so sorts, judging from the furniture, decorations and paintings on walls.

Now, the entire place was in shambles, with sars of blood on the walls and ceiling.

Cain could only imagine the horrific scenes that would have played out on that day.

"The spirits told ..."

Cain raised a brow,

"The spirits told you what?"

Julio chuckled wryly,

"Well, when I left, they told to head to the Do of Sands. That I'll et our salvation if I headed there."

Cain grimaced, "Oh, really?"

Julio's gaze suddenly beca intense as he locked eyes with him.

He nodded,

"Yeah. That's what they said."

Cain sighed, "I see."

He fell silent then leaned his back on the wall.

Julio laughed,

"I thought you'd be more uptight, but you seem like a chill dude?"

Cain chuckled, but didn't say anything.

Julio continued,

"Either way, I think this will be quite the adventure!"

Cain raised a brow,

"Adventure?"

Julio grinned, a strange looking on his face,

"A journey through danger to save people! A Hero's adventure!"

'He most definitely has hit his head sowhere!'
