A shrill hiss cut through the skies.

Riding on the dark clouds above, an enormous serpent with silver scales, and four wings on its long back opened up its tenebrous maw and let out a scalding jet of wicked blue flas that scorched the world below, turning rocks into molten pools of magma.

Riding on the silver serpent’s back was a strange thing that looked like a golden man.

However, it was much larger than a regular human being, and the proportions weren’t right.

Even more glaring, the golden puppet had no face.

Its arms resembled that of Devils; two enormous, long bladed forelimbs.

Watching the world embroiled in war below, Enoch had little thoughts going through its mind.

Or any at all.

But it had been given its instructions, which were to assist in the battle below.

Not only that, but he had also been granted temporary command of all the other contracted creatures by that... man.

Although so people were not happy with this decision, such as the terrifying vicious creature that was busy with tearing Devils apart while imagining it was him instead.

If he has brows, Enoch’s would be furrowed in annoyance.

However, he didn’t.

So he stood on the flying serpent’s back with impeccable balance, expressionless.

A face, was in a way, a physical interpretation of a soul. Emotions were show through expression.

In a way, it was what separate the living from the non-living.

A creature like it was desired a face too. Sure, it could create an artificial one based on all the faces it has seen.

But it wouldn’t be his. It would just be a fraudulent imitation. So, Enoch chose not to.

It would remain faceless until it possessed a soul of its own.

The Silver serpent continued to swim through the air, dodging barrages of lethal magic and physical projectiles as it spat the blue flas.

If it had hair, it would be whipping in the wind at this point.

However, it didn’t have any hair.

Suddenly, Enoch paused.

There was nothing saying a soulless being like him couldn’t have hair.

Not all humans had hair, but most of them did.

However, his hair couldn’t be like a human’s hair.

A strange scene played out.

Strands of fibrous golden threads began weaving into reality in the reflective golden skull of the {Golden Steel Herald}.

Very soon, beautiful locks of golden hair were carried in the wind.

A being, faceless and soulless stood, gazing down on the twisted world of chaos and death below, a feeling of satisfaction brewing in its heart.

Or what was ant to be itself heart.

Because it didn’t have a heart.

It didn’t have life in that sense too, although it was living.

’Much better.’

Taking a step forward, Enoch fell from the heavens to the earth in a golden arc.

An ungodly gathering of living corpses bent their necks and glanced towards the sky.

A streak of light was descending upon them.

However, they made no move to avoid it.

Because {Zombies} were rather unintelligent creatures, no different from puppet. Except to attack living creatures, they remained unresponsive.

And since he had no life in the tal casing that made up his anatomy, Enoch was considering nothing more than furniture, equipnt at the very most, to this mindless horde.

Blades sliced through the wind an speeds greater that the ears could recognize, creating a droning sound.

Blood and torn limbs scattered into the air then rained back down onto the earth in a deluge of carnage.

Enoch had dropped dead center of the battle.

The {Golden Steel Herald} shifted into a crouching position as it shot through the horde of both {Zombies} and Devils.

Its tal body groaned as the sword arms it possessed stretched out even longer and sharper.

A terrible carnage ensued as Devil and Zombie alike were torn into pieces.

"Huh?" Noticing the disturbance, a rather large Devil with an enormous stomach that made it look less like a treacherous, bloodthirsty Devil and more like an alcoholic abomination stepped towards the approaching stream of slaughter.

With every step the Devil took, the ground trembled.

"What rubbish is this?!" The Devil said with a snarly.

Then it sucked in a deep breath and belched out a stream of dark rotten energy.

The energy blast eroded everything in its path, Devil and Zombie, turning them into white skeletons that clattered to the ground.

Enoch shot above the stream of rot energy, dodging it.

Landing lightly on the ground, the {Golden Steel Herald} froze.

It glanced down.

On the back of its calf, it had been grazed a bit by the rot stream.

Its golden flesh had rusted a bit.

The ground sizzled with the scourge of the rot as the Devils stepped towards him.

"Freaking gods must have shat this thing out. Where the hell did it co from?!"

A {Sky Devils} flew down,

"It ca from that troubleso snake, Gargon!"

The {Rot Behemoth}, Gargon, turned to the {Sky Devils} in a furious expression,

"Huh?! What the hell are you bastards doing then?! It’s already taking too much for to handle these idiots down here to prevent them from being killed, and you idiots can’t do your jobs properly?!"

"But—"

With a swing of its arm, Gargon smashed the head of the {Sky Devils} in, killing it on the spot.

"Disgusting fly." Gargon muttered.

This was the nature of the Devil hierarchy.

Gargon could do as he pleased, simply because he was powerful. One of the more powerful Devils on this battlefield.

After they had finally pushed the humans to the edge, the bridge had suddenly collapsed.

Despite that, constructing a new bridge wouldn’t be too difficult.

However, not all the humans had retreated. The strongest of them had stayed behind to delay them even at the cost of their lives.

To make matters worse, the humans they had believed had retreated had eventually returned and were now launching a wicked ranged assault that proved to be terrible, even for them.

Thousands of Devils were dying by the hour.

The humans that were supposed to be weak were turning the tides.

"What is an elental doing in a barren world such as this one? What made sorcery is this?" Gargon spat.

"My na is Enoch. An elental of tal born of the will of the city your kind has profaned."

"Kekeke. So that’s what this is? Very well then. It has been a while since I’ve tasted sothing exotic. Co!" The {Rot Behemoth} let out a terrifyingly sinister cackle as it rushed forward.

As a being with no soul or heart, Enoch could feel no fear.

Instead, he rushed forward.
