The night was still young.
The surface of the lake was still and soft, like the back of a radiant young woman calling her spouse over to bed.
The water rippled ever so softly from ti to ti and the wind was so chilly, one would be worried the lake would freeze over at any mont.
However, it didn't.
Cain put the communicator down in front of him.
Projected from the communicator was a rather familiar face. One he hadn't seen in person for so ti now.
"Sentry, huh..."
Staring at the holographic display of Azazel, Cain couldn't help but feel like the Demon was immune to change.
"The Guardian of the Silver Moon. First born son of Darkness and the eternal companion of the Everlasting Willow Tree."
Cain raised a brow,
"That's quite the na. Then this Sentry must be a rather powerful Celestial, right?"
Azazel chuckled,
"No, quite the opposite. But, it is a loyal one."
Cain could see a strange look appear in the Demon's eyes.
"To answer your question, yes. I am rather well acquainted with Sentry. You could even say we go way back."
Cain let out a sigh of relief,
"Then—"
"But..." Azazel cut him off.
Cain frowned.
"But asking a Celestial to relinquish his hold on his subjects is beyond rude."
Cain snorted,
"It shouldn't be that big of a deal."
Azazel's smile faded away,
"No. It is. For a Celestial, its worshipers practically beco parts of itself. This is why those that rebel against their gods aren't dealt with lightly."
Cain humd,
"Is that so..."
Azazel nodded,
"But your case might be a bit different."
The Demon wore a teasing smile as he explained,
"Sentry usetk be one of Ashur's most loyal subjects. I wonder how that old dog will react when he sees you."
Cain's expression changed,
"Ashur, huh..."
It had been quite so ti since he last had any contact with him. He had no idea where the Celestial had gone. Was it still within him, or had it gone elsewhere...
"If you want to make contact with Sentry, you will need his divine remnant."
Cain nodded, "That won't be an issue."
Azazel raised a brow,
"But I don't see anything nearby."
Cain smiled and pointed at the lake,
"Water reflects the sky. The Direwolf Lord ntioned sothing about the silver moon in the sky. But there's nothing in the sky. However, I caught a glimpse of sothing being reflected on the surface of the water."
Azazel humd,
"I see..."
Cain nodded, "There is a moon in the sky. But my human eyes can't see it. But by looking at the lake, I can see its reflection instead."
It was a strange phenona that he couldn't explain.
But not everything needed an explanation. As long as it worked.
Cain let his gaze drift towards the center of the lake.
There, a lustrous silver moon was reflected despite there being nothing in the night sky.
He sucked in a deep breath and then reached out, as if to touch it.
The mont he did, reality seed to twist in upon itself.
Then the world began to turn in on itself.
Cain's face paled as he tried to rise to his feet. He fell down imdiately.
The surface of the lake imdiately beca unstable, churning and bubbling as everything around him seed to stretch into obscurity.
Steve and Blaze disappeared.
The tents disappeared.
Even the wind seed to vanish as well.
All that was left, was the lake.
And an enormous silver moon that appeared in the sky.
Beneath this silver moon, was an enormous Willow Tree that stretched into the heavens, the clouds caressing its leaves and crown.
Cain didn't think he had seen any tree quite as large as this one.
His gaze soon turned back to the frothing lake.
From it rose a wolf with fur as delicate as moonlight itself.
'Beautiful...'
The eyes of the wolf were oddly similar to that of Roc. However, this one was much brighter and laced with divinity.
The presence of the creature made Cain feel the urge to bow his head and worship.
He was in the presence of a Celestial. Of a god.
It was only right he did so.
He grimaced and shook his head to.get rid of such thoughts.
Sucking in a deep breath, he glared up at the celestial remnant.
The enormous wolf narrowed its eyes.
Cain knew he was no longer in the physical world.
Instead, he was in a domain created by the spirit of the celestial. It was quite similar to when he had co into contact with other God remnants in the past, so he wasn't put off too much.
'Still, for this to be a weaker celestial. Isn't that unreasonable?'
The entire world seed to bow its head in worship the mont the silver wolf rose from the lake. It took all his self control not to bow his own head.
"You have not co to seek my blessing."
The mouth of the silver wolf never moved.
Instead, its thoughts were imprinted directly into his head.
Cain took in a gulp of air to calm himself the nodded,
"Indeed. Instead, I have co to ask sothing of you."
Without waiting for a response, Cain pulled his communicator out and placed it on the ground.
Then he took a step back and waited.
A rather clear image of Azazel was imdiately projected from the communicator.
Azazel turned his gaze up and grinned,
"Long ti no see, Sentry."
The eyes of the Silver Wolf narrowed,
"Demon."
Cain instantly felt like he was going to die.
He felt to his knees, sweat pouring off of him in buckets.
'W-what is this?!'
Azazel frowned,
"This is no way to greet an old friend, is it?"
The silver wolf took a step forward. Its teeth were bared and itself eyes were wide open. Itseeyes were like golden orbs in the sky ready to scourge everything beneath the heavens.
Cain didn't thing he could look up.
If he did, his very soul could very well be extinguished.
This was much different from battling with Balangol.
Since he had touched directly upon the remnant of the god, it was as good as stepping into its mouth and praying it didn't grind its teeth.
In other words, he was at this thing's rcy.
Azazel sighed then steeled his eyes.
An incredible aura. One that seed more powerful than that of the silver wolf exploded out of the much smaller Demon.
Cain could almost swear that he saw a fake apparition appear behind the Demon for just a split second.
Sentry's voice akin to a thousand rumbling thunderbolts striking simultaneously finally spoke,
"What do you want, Demon?"
Azazel snorted,
"It is not a matter of what I want," He said pointing at Cain,
"Rather, it is a matter of if you are willing to believe ."
